As per Evil Empire's reply in the comments section here, they're aware of the state of meta-progression, and have mentioned they'll be adding more of that throughout the Early Access period. I'm really glad to hear it, and looking forward to it eagerly, since this is something that'll make the game enjoyable to many, many more players.
I swear Lost Crown and Rogue Prince of Persia further shows the greatness that is movement mechanics mixed with intergradable combat that accompanies the movement. Also even now your way of reviewing games I have appreciated how much simple you explain games while retaining all necessary and even technical or thematic aspects of a game. Note: I am happy that the 2 new prince of persia games are really good.
Thanks Kazuto. ^_^ I definitely hope we get to see more Prince of Persia, in general. The series has been dormant for way too long, and Lost Crown blew me away from start to finish.
Now that prince of Persia is going in this route, i think Ubisoft would probably go with the sonic format of games where they will release a 2d and 3d games from time to time unless they completely erase the 3d games
I think I'd enjoy that. Some really creative ideas lately, and we can still get the bigger 3D titles. Lost Crown was one of the best videogames I've played in years and I rate it very, very high on Prince of Persia's strongest entries.
Pop was one of the first games I ever played and I'm so happy that this franchise is getting revived. I wonder how many of the new mechanics in these new games will make it into sot remake
I imagine SoT Remake will seek to be pretty faithful to the original game, since _that_ is what defined a lot of these fun mechanics we're seeing in the new ones, in the first place. I would love to see us maybe get a more meaningful ranged action for combat to keep people at bay, whether that's throwing a small knife ourselves or commanding Farah to fire on someone specific.
@@LeoKRogue Touche. But I think they could add some quality of life improvements from forgotten sands like being able to wall run while hanging from somewhere
Your second review that persuaded me to purchase the game (first was with Mirage). Great analysis and breakdown that tells you everything you need to know about the game and without any unnecessary praise
I hope you don't regret it, since I don't unambiguously recommend this one, I hope that was clear enough from my wording. 😅 I think it'll be really nice one day in the future but right now it's still missing a lot to make it truly hit.
@@LeoKRogue Haven't purchased yet but I think will in the nearest future. For me the style and movement are two selling points, so that's enough for me. Really love what they have done with the wall run. Looks really fun and unique in some sort
Your review videos are great, always a pleasure to watch them! I also just got the first PoP game and I’m excited to see how it plays after watching and hearing about it a lot
@@LeoKRogue oh I meant sands of time lol. I played a little of the actual first one and it was definitely interesting, i didn’t really have fun though, the combat was especially frustrating, so I dropped it.
Thanks for the kind words. Please watch Hayete Bahadori's Lost Crown No Damage run on TH-cam, I love that video and his commentary and gameplay are both perfect.
I'm waiting up to get a better laptop to play the new parkour game on steam "Rooftops and Alleys" But for now this game will most definitely scratch my freerunning itch for the time being. Beautiful animations and expressive mechanics. Downloading now. Thanks Leo lol🔥
I'm a huge POP fan. I have played all the games except the new ones and the mobile. This game sounds fun and it might be a good way to delve into Roguelikes, but since it is on early access I might wait for it to be finished or a bit more advanced and in the meantime I might play The Lost Crown. A question: is The Lost Crown finished or is it also on early access?
Coming: When It's Ready. Honestly, SoT remake is the most popular and will sell the most but I think Warrior Within straight-up just actually needs it more. Game is a mess but could be brilliant with some love and polish.
Wait, im so confused. Academy isn't part of streamer demo and game hasnt been out yet, and you can't telecast any gameplay as of now, then 😭😭😭 Oh wait, i read description, you got a review code.
It's possible that separate types of access may involve separate conditions and requirements. For the agreement with the key they gave me, my embargo was up as of an hour and twenty five minutes ago.
@@LeoKRogueoh, no. I thought you had Alpha testing which has an NDA period of a few years. So I was genuinely confused as in how'd we get review this early when game hadn't dropped yet
To be clear this was Evil Empire, Ubi just gave them the okay to make the game. If you want to play something by the awesome people who make those Rayman platformers, play Lost Crown! You can really feel a lot of the same magic and quality.
Happy to report that's not the case. It doesn't feel delayed or sluggish at all. May be an instance of something looking different on video than the way it actually feels in your hands during gameplay, but I can peel out in any direction and it feels quite snappy. It's something I never really need to think about as I run around. Movement in general feels pretty fast and smooth, with those rare exceptions I mentioned. (Pathing into an object during a vault etc.)
I never actually stopped posting, it's just that I only write something there when I have a proper idea that I want to explore. Most of what I write nowadays gets voiced and made into a video, I suppose.
It is very, very cool, look up the Academy and Aqueduct OST if you can find it somewhere and tell me you don't want to run around and backflip off walls listening to that all day. This game is super stylish so far.
Well metaprogression its not a thing for all roguelikes. I get you liking it, but heabily comparing it to hades whem its now trying to do that thing its unfair Theyre not going for the same in terms of progression
It's not unfair, let me explain why. This game is competing for players' money, attention and time _at the same time as HADES II,_ and they're _both_ being sold under the Early Access format, which means it makes perfect sense to compare them. They're both under the same wider genre and both being sold under the same format. I don't think they need to be any more similar for a valid comparison to be made, and besides it's just a useful way to give people perspective. I don't want them to go into this expecting the same kind of experience, because it's not, it's fun in its own ways. I'm not saying lacking metaprogression is a _bad_ thing, it can be part of a game's vision and direction, I even make sure to say that so maybe you didn't listen to that part of the video. I AM saying that it's important for players to _know_ what they're buying though, I'm not just going to lie to people or omit that very crucial information. This is something that will change players' purchasing decision, and it matters that they know the state of metaprogression in the game so I don't mislead people into buying something they're dissatisfied with. I'm well aware roguelikes, especially ones that lean more -like rather than -lite, offer less (or sometimes none) metaprogression, but wouldn't you agree this is something that makes sense to talk about? It's an expectation many players would have, and if that's not something they might like, then I don't want them to spend their money on something they might not enjoy. I want people who will truly love this game to be the ones who buy it. Finally, Evil Empire have mentioned they're going to be adding a bit more metaprogression eventually in this video's comments section, so you saying they're going for something different is only partly true here. Thanks for the comment, and for the chance to clarify further.
For _non-roguelite_ players, it will be very rough. You get very, very little in the way of persistent upgrades for your character, so if you can't improve your personal skill as a player, you're going to feel it's very repetitive and frustrating since you're not actually getting stronger for the time you're putting in.
Hey and just to add to that - we are well aware of this and it will be something we will add during Early Access (meta progression/upgrades), as well as difficulty settings :) @@LeoKRogue

Technically Motion Twin "made" Dead Cells. But Evil Empire have been working on it since 2019.
