@@ttsvc6638 You can play ColecoVision & Game Gear games off of a jailbroken Mega SG ONLY. You can't play them through a MED cart. Not a clue actually. If you use the BIOS files I recommended it should just work. If not this, it might possibly be the games you have aren't optimized for the MED Pro. What firmware are you using if I may ask?
Having issues with SegaCD hanging. I have a model 1 with a model 1 SegaCD attached, but not powered on. Do I need to disconnect the SegaCD or should it work? Having hanging issues ok bios boot screen. Also, should the Sega CD bios files have ".bin" in the name since the file extension is already .bin?
has anyone figured out a hardware mod to bypass the 32x with a switch or something so you don't have to disconnect and change AV cables when going back and fourth between 32x and SegaCD games on a gen1 Genesis?
Great tutorial! I have an issue. My ED Pro for some reason can't read .smd files. I tried renaming them but that never works. Any help would be appreciated
Hmm very interesting! I would say if possible try and test those .smd files on a PC emulator if you can -- Kega Fusion or Gens+. You want to make sure it's not a corrupted file/bad dump. It also could be a bad header, which was common with those files. Also try to use .bin or .md files whenever possible -- .smd is a long since outdated format that isn't widely used any more. If you must use .smd and it doesn't work in an emulator either, try converting the ROM into a .bin using this program: www.zophar.net/utilities/segautil/rom-converter.html Then test again! Let me know either way!
@@RetroSho Thanks again for your help! I downloaded the rom converter you posted and some of the roms work. Others didn't. I said screw it and obtained a pack.
Just got my Mega Pro Everdrive today and am watching this while setting up. :D I was wondering. In your sd card, you also have Sega Game Gear. Are these roms supported? I thought I needed the Adapter I bought and the GG everdrive for that. And how about SG-1000 and my card roms. Do I need the Master System Everdrive for those or will they work with this one? I have been looking around MSU-MD but don’t really understand what it is. Help?🙇🏻♂️ Last not but least: Mega CD & Sega CD, what is Mega CD? I found a batch of Sega CD roms but not Mega CD.
Yooooo congrats on the purchase! Enjoy the video! So, Game Gear games aren't supported! That was actually an error on my behalf in the editing -- I had my full pack of games installed onto the flash cart! 🤣 You definitely need a GG EverDrive (and a GG) to play those games. The Sega Genesis (and it's clone consoles, including the Mega SG in Genesis mode) cannot handle the full color output that the Game Gear has, so compatibility is broken in that sense. As for SG-1000 games, yes you can play them on the Mega EverDrive Pro just fine! It's hardware is just a small step down from the Master System's (and Genesis) hardware. You can also play MSX games that have been converted into SG-1000 & SMS games. MSU-MD, I've actually been slacking VERY HARD on creating a video for that (my apologies!). Something I will correct by the end of the year with all due hope! 😂 However, you can take a look at Zeldix's website: www.zeldix.net/f66-md-and-msu-md-hacks-database . They have a bunch of patches there to create your MSU-MD, but it does require a bit of a small learning curve, vs just slapping ROMs onto the cart. Mega CD IS Sega CD! "Mega CD" (or Mega-CD) is the naming convention that was used outside of North America to refer to the Sega CD. People in Asia, Europe, Africa, and Australia call them Mega CD games. Hope this all helps! 😎
@@RetroSho omg thank you so much for replying! You’re a godsend!🙇🏻♂️ I do have a couple of other questions if you don’t mind. First things first, I solely have a Mega SG and use the Everdrive Pro for that console alone. At some point I might get the 32x add-on but we’ll see. I played around with the roms yesterday and while I didn’t have any issues with Mega Drive/Genesis and Master System roms, the Sega/Mega-CD games either wouldn’t start or only started without music or without music but noises like for example clicking a button, opening a door or something like that. The thing is, I found only .chd files which I then converted back to .bin and .cue buuut apparently the .cue file is only 1-2kb. Might that be the issue for me not getting sound or do I have to do something in the settings menu of the Mega SG or the everdrive pro? I am actually shocked about the color palette of the GG. I specifically bought the 3 adapter set for japanese SG-1000, My Card and GG from Analogue for the Mega SG. I hope they adjusted the color palette so that GG games are being displayed correctly? I only bought one used GG game to test the adapter and it looked fine to me, but what do I know. I never owned a GG and I don’t have an Analogue Pocket yet (and sadly won’t for another year apparently..), so the Mega SG and the GG everdrive where my big hope to enjoy some must play GG games. Now if you don’t mind me asking, what are MSX games that were converted to SG-1000 and SMS? I know the MSX and that it has the version of the first two Metal Gear games I want to play. Are you telling me I could play those games in all their glory without any sacrifices in visuals, audio or gameplay on my Mega SG through the Everdrive Pro? 😱 Because I just bought the XB360 japanese version of the MGS HD Collection for that buut if there’s an option to play it on the Everdrive, I’d be thrilled. Thank you very much for the link about the MSU-MD and for clearing up that Mega-CD and Sega-CD is the same.😅 Now I need to look for SG-1000 roms..🤔
@@Lock2002ful Haha, it's all good my man! All good! So lets hit it one at a time! First off, I see that you're using the Mega SG! You'll need to enable CD audio there! Under Settings > Audio, you'll see the "Enable Cartridge Audio" option! Toggle that on, and you should start to hear the mixed in CD audio from the Mega EverDrive Pro. Leave "Automatically Enable CD Audio" toggled OFF. Lemme know if that corrects the issue! As far as the Mega EverDrive Pro, you'll just want to make sure you have the BIOS files for each of the 3 regions ready to go. 😎 So as far as the Mega SG is concerned, yes the palettes should work correctly with your adapter set! I'm currently (and ironically) using the GG adapter for one of my upcoming videos, so I can tell ya that it faithfully works in that sense, haha. HOWEVER you do want to make sure you've received the v1.1 of the GG adapter. DO NOT USE the v1.0 of the GG adapter should you receive it. It was built incorrectly and is to be disposed of per Analogue. If you received a v1.0 adapter you also should be able to contact Analogue and get a v1.1 replacement free of charge. You'll know if the color palette isn't working with the GG adapter, because the video will look AWFUL haha. It's very obvious! 😂😂😂 As far as MSX games they are mostly MSX1! More of the simple, earlier titles. MSX1 and SMS has very similar hardware, so many different teams converted games over as SMS games. You can see many of them here: www.smspower.org/forums/16445-MSXToSMSHacks The Metal Gear games you speak of are MSX2, which unfortunately has a bit more going one as far as system hardware, and is more powerful than the MSX1. If only such a thing could be ported over! 😯 And finally SG-1000 games are very cute, but it didn't land as hard as MSX1 or ColecoVision... 🤔 You're very welcome my man! Sorry I couldn't respond faster this time! Was a busy day yesterday! The grind continues...!😅

HI. Nice detailed video! I have a stock Japanese Megadrive Model 1 (first run) on the way. It is not region modified in anyway: No traces cut with switches or switchless mods. About to buy the Everdrive Pro but have a region concern. I saw in your video that you can select a title and set the Region. Say for example if all my roms are mostly USA will they play just fine on a stock Japanese mega drive or do I need to manually set the region on each ROM? Many thanks.
Heya my man! And you're welcome! 😎 Stock Mega Drives will also work just fine with the Mega EverDrive Pro! The MegaKey that is built into the cart acts as a software-based region unlock/bypass for those games that are region locked. You'll want to leave it on for your Mega Drive so it bypasses region for the games that require it (doesn't hurt or affect the console in any way to leave it on forever if you want). The reason why the individual region settings exist is just in case if there are issues with older ROMs and for some games that that have dual/multiple regions built into the ROM itself, like Mystic Defender. Have fun my man! You'll love it on the OG Japanese Mega Drive Model 1. I have one as well and the sound is juuust slightly different enough from the American consoles to be interesting. 👌🏿👌🏿
@@RetroSho Thanks Sho. based on your reply review and reply I just placed an order and it will be here in 2-3 days probably before my Mega Drive arrives.
I have a switchleas modded console. When saving Sega cd games if I press "start+A+B+C" to reset and exit to the menu my save is gone upon next boot. However if I hard reset after save by turning power on and off the save is there. Is this normal as I'm guessing the cart created a backup save file for mega cd games after a hard reset?
I can tell the Genesis 1 and 2 models will work, are there other variants of the console that could work too? Which one of them all would you say is best for use with Everdrive Pro? Thank you!!
All variants of the Genesis should play the Mega EverDrive Pro, but some will not be able to run CD based games without internal mods. Even some clone consoles will run the Pro just fine ! I would say the best use case would be any model 1, followed by model 2 and then modded NOMAD or model 3. 😎
So, how do flashcarts handle save data? Is it like with normal carts, where they use a battery that eventually runs out, and then you have to replace it or you can't use saves?
I have been trying for days to convert videos from mp4 to mcv and the convertor works but the playback is all garbled on every single video I try. Using the links provided this version coverts to MCV straight away unlike the others I have tried but still no joy with the actual video content. It plays but has interference all over the picture and on some has issues also with the audio any appreciation would help, do the MP4 need to be a certain standard?
Hey Sho, I saw you mentioned the Mega EverDrive Pro had no Sega CD support on a Pioneer LaserActive. Is that because of a hardware restriction? Do you know if the Mega Drive PAC (S-1) would play Genesis games with a Mega EverDrive Pro?
Yooooo! Essentially yes. The Mega EverDrive Pro cannot run Sega CD games as long as a connection to a Sega/Mega CD bus is live and active (connected). Since the Mega-CD is essentially built into the Laser Active, it's a permanent issue for that console (People with a typical Sega-CD set up can just disconnect their Sega-CD attachment, which closes the port for the flash cart). You'd see an error message that states "This ROM conflicts with the Mega-CD addon, Please try again without the Mega-CD addon." 💀 Mega Drive PAC (S-1) attached likely won't work for the same reason, though to be fair I've never heard of anyone attempting it. Here is a video of someone who tried to play Mega-CD games on his own Pioneer Laser Active in January: th-cam.com/video/8k7kWlHgDWI/w-d-xo.html (He couldn't play Mega-CD or MSU-MD games.) Hope this helps! 😅
Hello! You can update the firmware by going into your SD card (into EDN8 folder), and deleting the MAPS folder, mappers.png, MAPROUT.BIN, n8nsf.nes, and nesos.nes files. Then unzip the new firmware into the EDN8 folder, replacing those older files with the new ones. Hope this helps! 😎
Hello. I seem to be screwing something up as far as Sega CD function goes. Do you think the bios files I have are bad if it gets stuck on the (planet art?)? screen? It says Sega 1993 v 2.00 and just stays there for all of eternity. Thank you for the tutorial.
Hello, and you're welcome my man! 😎 It's definitely possible the BIOS is bad (though, this is uncommon). The BIOS file should be booting the game automatically. I do have a few questions for ya: 1) Is your card formatted as FAT32 or exFAT? 2) Do you know if your BIOS is a ReDump BIOS? 3) Is it possible for you to test the non-working game on an emulator? (If not it's OK!) Depending on the answer(s) it might be possible that the game you have is a bad CD image/dump. 🤔
@@RetroSho Lets see. 1) It is exfat. 2) I do not know (oops) I will find out tonight. 3) I am testing this tonight as well and I will report back. Thank you sir
@@dereklow4368 No problem! It’s possible that the BIOS is bad or the game dump is bad or both! If you can’t successfully test on a emulator, I would say maybe look for another game dump. You can also try to use a 1.XX BIOS instead.
You’re very welcome! This folder structure is known as HTGDB (Hardware Target Game Database). You run a parse script on ROM files you have in a folder and it will cross check CRC32 values to make sure they are valid files then build it into the structure you see in my video. It can make use of either no-intro or redump as long as the CRC checks off. Can find out more about that here: github.com/frederic-mahe/Hardware-Target-Game-Database
im sorry but i just ordered a mega everdrive pro for my model 3 genesis and youre the first to mention the CD functionality. Are you referring to the triple bypass mod? because im gonna be really sad if i need to buy that now lol
Yes I am! 😅 Doing that particular mod will not only clean up the video (at the expense of the composite being cut for RGB), but will also restore functionality for SMS/SCD/32X. It'll also bring up the audio out from mono to stereo for you. Can check out my modder's video here for the Genesis 3: th-cam.com/video/EcVnFEY-PgM/w-d-xo.html
@@RetroSho thank you, for your quick reply! I was actually planning on doing the triple bypass mod anyway, however i am pretty confused why none of the stores selling the everdrive mention anything about model 3 compatability. That seems like a pretty big flaw. Ive honestly been digging through every website that mentions the triple bypass mod and it only mentions it adds support for the genesis cd audio patch (i forget the name)
@@DeathCult696 You're welcome, Death! None of the stores mention the model 3 mainly cuz it's one of the more obscure models to have at all (many just assume you have model 1 or 2). It's a shame, but understandable. They should do better to be more comprehensive so that people won't go in and just purchase then be stuck without full functionality. You do wanna make sure you have a full understanding of the mod, or know someone whos good at modding however! Information on modding the model 3 is pretty sparse, so you'll be mostly on your own in figuring out how to go about it if you don't have a modder or know how to mod yourself. What you could do in the meantime is purchase a model 1 Genesis to use as a backup, as they are waaaay more cheap now than they were two years ago. 😎
I just purchased this and I was wondering if I can do this with my Android phone or do I need a computer we have a computer here I just wanted to know if I could do this on my Android phone instead
Don't see why you couldn't do this with an android phone. Just make sure of these things: 1) Phone has an micro SD card slot. 2) Phone can perform a format on the SD card slot for exFAT. 3) Phone can access the internet and download zip files. 4) Phone program can extract .zip files (to the SD card folder). If nothing else, try to borrow a PC to do most of the heavy lifting like downloading files and formatting the SD card. Good luck!

@@JWWEntertainment Actually this might be a fantastic video idea! Some issues with the playback might amount to the audio rate or the video size. Not a clue actually. If you use the BIOS files I recommended it should just work. If not this, it might possibly be the games you have aren't optimized for the MED Pro.
What firmware are you using if I may ask?
Would it work on licensed copies of PAL mega drive? I have one and it is not a original Mega Drive II.
It should work on every official Sega Genesis or Mega Drive. Since yours is PAL, it might need Mega Key activated to work effectively!
I doubt anyone will respond to this, but i tried to use these roms on my MEP and i get no music at all. Any idea what im doing wrong?
Sup! What's your set up like? Console/TV etc.
Let’s gooooo
Yessir! 👀 and working on the next!
Just got my Mega Pro Everdrive today and am watching this while setting up. :D
I was wondering.
Help?🙇🏻♂️
Last not but least: Mega CD & Sega CD, what is Mega CD?
@@RetroSho
omg thank you so much for replying! You’re a godsend!🙇🏻♂️
I do have a couple of other questions if you don’t mind.
Because I just bought the XB360 japanese version of the MGS HD Collection for that buut if there’s an option to play it on the Everdrive, I’d be thrilled.
Thank you very much for the link about the MSU-MD and for clearing up that Mega-CD and Sega-CD is the same.😅
Now I need to look for SG-1000 roms..🤔
So as far as the Mega SG is concerned, yes the palettes should work correctly with your adapter set! 😂😂😂
As far as MSX games they are mostly MSX1! 🤔
You're very welcome my man! Sorry I couldn't respond faster this time! Was a busy day yesterday! The grind continues...!😅
I formatted my card as exFat and Everdrive said it needed to be formatted as Fat32 when I booted it up.
hi friend, could you kindly tell me where I can find the right iso to upload to the evedrive? because I just bought it but I can't get the mega cd games to work. A thousand thanks
megadoom has no sound or music when i load it up i copied the music version from the same place as you
And you downloaded the version with music? It’s a much larger file than without
@@RetroSho yeah the 475mb no sound or music at all I can’t get to the bottom of it,
I downloaded and copied to sd card same as in your vid, it’s very strange as everything else works fine.
@@steveothehulk I would just say make sure your cart has the latest firmware and possibly give reformatting your card a try, if you can manage it. It’s an issue I’ve never heard about til your post. 🤔

@@steveothehulk It can be FAT32 or exFAT :)
Thanks for sharing, do you know if mega everdrive X5 can use 128gb sd card, maybe formatted in two partitions of 32gb and 96gb respectively. Thank you
You’re very welcome! 🔥. Yes, an EverDrive X5 should be able to use a 128GB card! However, I don’t think it’ll be able to see two separate partitions with in the card. It might just see the first drive letter that is reported 🤔
Stock Mega Drives will also work just fine with the Mega EverDrive Pro!
They are saved and recalled from the SD card as .SRM files. They should be good as long as your SD card is healthy. 🤔
Here is a video of someone who tried to play Mega-CD games on his own Pioneer Laser Active in January: th-cam.com/video/8k7kWlHgDWI/w-d-xo.html
(He couldn't play Mega-CD or MSU-MD games.) Hope this helps! 😅
i cant find the bios files anywhere , can you attach a link?

Could you give me the link where to download these sega cd bios thank you very much
Unfortunately, I can't share BIOS files, but it's easy to search for on Google. "Sega CD BIOS" and one of those first links got ya!
How to use cheats function ? I'm lost...
hi man
how i can update firmware or / and os on the cart ?
thanks
It's definitely possible the BIOS is bad (though, this is uncommon). The BIOS file should be booting the game automatically. I do have a few questions for ya:
1) Is your card formatted as FAT32 or exFAT?
2) Do you know if your BIOS is a ReDump BIOS?
3) Is it possible for you to test the non-working game on an emulator? (If not it's OK!)
Depending on the answer(s) it might be possible that the game you have is a bad CD image/dump.
You can also try to use a 1.XX BIOS instead.
was this ever resolved for you? I am having the same problem. When I run diagnostic i am getting Error 01 for BRM and Error 04 for SDC
@@steveb7932 Hi Steve. Yes I fixed it. I think it was a bad bios I had. Sorry for the late response, hopefully you have it resolved by now.
There's no save feature? How can you play the Rpgs then? The thing is useless.
Thank you so much for this. How exactly do you get that folder structure? Is there a tool that will generate those folders? NoIntro? Redump?
You’re very welcome! This folder structure is known as HTGDB (Hardware Target Game Database). You run a parse script on ROM files you have in a folder and it will cross check CRC32 values to make sure they are valid files then build it into the structure you see in my video. It can make use of either no-intro or redump as long as the CRC checks off.
Can find out more about that here: github.com/frederic-mahe/Hardware-Target-Game-Database
where can i find the roms of the games
im sorry but i just ordered a mega everdrive pro for my model 3 genesis and youre the first to mention the CD functionality.
Can check out my modder's video here for the Genesis 3:
th-cam.com/video/EcVnFEY-PgM/w-d-xo.html
I happen to have found 2.11x bios files are those good as well?
Yo! 2.11x BIOS should work just fine for most games! Some games I will not work for as well. 🤞🏿
those complete libs are like 70gb, why did you recommend a 256gb card
The price between a 128GB and a 256GB is like 10 dollars. It’s negligible and allows for space for the addition of MSU-MD and MD+ games.
Oh... so 32x roms only work with 32x attached to system.
Correct 😮💨. if you want 32X natively on hardware-based emulation you’ll need a MiSTer for that.
I just purchased this and I was wondering if I can do this with my Android phone or do I need a computer we have a computer here I just wanted to know if I could do this on my Android phone instead
Unfortunately my everdrive Pro isn't working yet I think I might have to do some computer I'll try tomorrow I'll let you know what's up
Don't see why you couldn't do this with an android phone. Just make sure of these things:
1) Phone has an micro SD card slot.
Good luck!

Does the battery needs to be charged from everdrive pro?
Shouldn’t need to have its battery charged if it’s your initial purchase. However, the battery will eventually die as any other. It will be good for a good long time unless you play Genesis nonstop every day 😂
recommend a 256gb sd card? i am pretty sure you could have every single game ever made all fit onto like... a 64 tops. just saying. Most of that would be sega cd also.
Yeah. The card isn’t that expensive any more and it’s to future proof for MSU-MD games too. 128GB and 64GB is also fine as well.
What's the VGM Players do?
Sup! VGM Players are ROMs that are designed to play associated game music tracks. It's basically a player for that game's music and nothing else. 🤔
@@RetroSho Thank you so much. Amazing video by the way. I'm not new to MEGA EverDrivePRO but I'm very new to MegaColor. My videos play back a little slower than original mp4 files. Anything I might be missing?
@@JWWEntertainment Actually this might be a fantastic video idea! Some issues with the playback might amount to the audio rate or the video size.
