    The Italian commentators in the Roddick clip say: “A shot for the archives, impossible shot… he throws the racket and goes home, because at this point what can I do if not shake your hand, and say- great lord of tennis, to you I pay homage; I think this is the most spectacular shot I’ve ever seen”

    Bill Russell has more championships than Michael Jordan yet they say mike is better. Its not only stats, its the embodiment of the sport, the magic and essence of it. Federer is tennis.

    • @itsmano22
      @itsmano22 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well that’s not a great comparison. One is a team sport where you can be limited by those around you, the other is individual and you alone are responsible for the accolades you do or don’t end up with.
      And I say that as a huge Fed fan.

    • @pillopillo297
      @pillopillo297 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@itsmano22 context also matter. I do think Federer is the greatest of all time, along with nadal. People say djokovic but what was the competition at djokovic time? What was the competition at federer/nadal time? Big difference. Not taking anything from djokovic, he is great but he is not federer.

    • @eriknovak496
      @eriknovak496 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @pillopillo297 I do find Djokovic's game to be the least fun and pleasing to watch, but in terms of competition... what was Federer's competition until 2008? Roddick and Davydenko? Sure, there were good players around, but it's clearly as weak or weaker than the playing field post-2019 or so. Federer won something like 10 of his slams before his main rivals actually started consistently beating him. And that's expected, since he is 5 years older than them. But I don't buy the weak playing field theory for Djokovic. In 2011-2016, his prime period, Federer to a large extent and certainly Nadal were in peak form and he came off with more dominant results anyhow.
      I do find his game less fun than others', and while my last name is his first name, I've never really rooted for him. But it's a very hard numerical argument to make that he is actually worse than the other 2

    • @pillopillo297
      @pillopillo297 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@eriknovak496 pete sampras, andrea agassi and others. Also many years vs nadal. Who was djokovic competition? Old federer and old nadal? And you say weaker than 2019?
      Or who is the stronger djokovic competition according to you?

    • @G0ATdebate
      @G0ATdebate 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      This is so correct. It's about that aura...not statistics...why do so many not understand that. And for those stuck on statistics...if Murray had not been injured Djoker would have lost many of his slams...the one time he was faced with someone who resembled a competitor he actually started losing...go look up who Federer and Nadal lost to in finals and compare that to who Djoker lost to

      @alexandermallinckrodt2847 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nah pretty much every modern player could go back and play with wood rackets and be number 1 in the world. The stroke mechanics and athleticism of modern athletes is just far far superior.
      That doesn’t take absolutely anything away from what the people in the past accomplished though. Only shows that cross generational comparisons are a bit silly and how incredible the advancements in athletics and technique have become.

    • @nordattack
      @nordattack 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@alexandermallinckrodt2847 Totally no. The method used today for stroke production is based on modern advanced power tech in racquets and strings. A wood racket could not be played like that and the power that the tech produces today that allows these players to be competitive would be taken away. They would have to change how they play to accommodate the tech just like every player in the past did.

    To the fedfans here: why are you arguing with the djokofans? They are so damn insecure, they are free to have their own goat but they can't stand it when others have opinions

    Only magic fed had was selling the most running shoes!! He had a losing record against nadal /djoki and by a lot!! Fed only won 33% of his GS matches agaisnt Nadal/Djoki and that includes only winning 33% of his GS finals mataches against nadal/djoki!! 1 out of 3 tries is complete failure!! H2H has a losing record agaisn nadal/djoki. Couldn't even beat nadal once at FRENCH!! Lossed to Djoki 3 times in a row at wimbledon finals and GRass was fedsqasuh supposed BEST SURFACE!!!?? 50% of feds titles were on the B circuit 250/500. Fed was weak mentally, weak backhand and never evolved his sqaush game he relied on the armchair tennis fans to push him through

You forgot the moon and stars were different too besiudes the grass..Fed had a weak game agaisnt nadal/djoki because his game was sqaush and weaker . 2003-2009 fed won 15 slams in the goldilocks era when sampras/agssi were leaving and djoki/nadal got going later and that is when fed faded with his sqaush game
