Ya no shit eh!! Lol that's the sign of a truly excellent, talented band! REM is a very underated band, The Tragically Hip is another band, very similar to REM , they were just amazing live, Gord Downie May he RIP, was such a great frontman, again very similar to REM's lead singer! That could be the Canadian in me speaking lol no the Hip were an excellent band, I'm so grateful I was able to see them in their prime several times. 🍻☮️🇨🇦
A lot of people seem to think the editing is crap... maybe you haven't seen the real video! Personally, I think they did an excellent job on it giving the impression of a bad frequency with cameras all over the place and the sound is not easy to produce from a live show either! All respect to you Michael for wearing a violent green Irish jersey too 😊
Excelente lisergico video en directo para una de las canciones que más profundo llega, y que es producto de una anécdota. De lo mínimo hasta lo máximo. Muchas gracias, a quién la compuso y canto, y también a quién la subió.
Contrary to popular belief this song is about the forming of the London congestion charge zone. During the consultation period prior to its implementation Livingstone was quizzed about traffic regularity and volumes by an interviewer, who supposedly asked him, 'WHAT'S THE FREQUENCY KENNETH' ?
Back in the days you could hit the Masquerade club in Atlanta to see where alot of thes bands, esp the GA guys came from, Talk about a wild night and experience!!
I was lucky enough to see them after they released UP and they were fantastic. I hope you can catch them live if they ever reform. Until then we have wonderful a TH-cam vids!
Yes the camera crew has apologized for that as they had been on an all day Guinness binge which is what is expected on a visit to Ireland, they said never again as they suffered for a week after and it put them off drinking for life.
"What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine, uh-huh I was brain-dead, locked out, numb, not up to speed I thought I'd pegged you an idiot's dream Tunnel vision from the outsider's screen I never understood the frequency, uh-huh You wore our expectations like an armored suit, uh-huh I'd studied your cartoons, radio, music, TV, movies, magazines Richard said, "Withdrawal in disgust is not the same as apathy" A smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth You said that irony was the shackles of youth You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh I never understood the frequency, uh-huh "What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine, uh-huh Butterfly decal, rearview mirror, dogging the scene You smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth You said that irony was the shackles of youth You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh I never understood the frequency, uh-huh You wore our expectations like an armored suit, uh-huh I couldn't understand You said that irony was the shackles of youth, uh-huh I couldn't understand You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh I couldn't understand I never understood, don't fuck with me, uh-huh
Paul Murphy, do you have the dvd and could you torrent it? I live in Brazil and there is no way to buy the original here, moreover due to the covid 19 everything that comes from abroad to customs
+therickoshae Tugger the mugger was a person who was disturbed me mentally (or maybe he was more sane than us)...Kenneth would basically be a fictitious character...the guy...the mugger named William Tager said newsmedia beamed signals into his head "....and it was only a matter of figuring out the frequency that he had to block....hence "what's the frequency...Kenneth"....
+therickoshae Dan Rather from CBS was walking in Central Park and this guy William tager thought CBS News was beaming signals to his head when he saw Dan Rathers walking down the street, he ran up and beat the crap out of him, repeatedly requesting the frequency ( Kenneth Whats the Frequency ) of the signals so he can stop them, while addressing Rathers as "Kenneth" for no apparent reason to this date. and then REM made this song
My fave R.E.M. tune ever...so catchy, so unconventional, so R.E.M.!
Dylan Pacis it’s just a great song
it is a banger
You should listen to Michael Stipe explain the meaning of this song via interview
Mike Mills playing bass AND singing high parts. That is called talent.
i dont see how the voice and the fingers are different things only
Yeah, I mean nobody's ever done that before. 🙄
When you play bass, you tend to 'keep in tune' with the instrument. That he does requires ability to multitask, focus, etc.. or just talent..
Yeah...because Michael Anthony, Paul McCartney, Geddy Lee, etc, etc never did that...
And someone said Michael Anthony, Paul McCartney, Geddy Lee, etc, etc have no talent?!
I have never attended an R.E.M. concert, but it looks like it would be a great live show.
I was at 2 great rem shows
Neither have I n it's something that I will regret for the rest of my life. Been a fan for 35 yrs.
pro trick : watch series on Flixzone. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Harry Kai yup, I've been using Flixzone for since december myself :)
@Harry Kai Definitely, been using flixzone for since november myself :D
Mike Mills and Michael Stipe harmonising with each other .... glorious.
I saw them in Glasgow in this year 2005 and they blew me away! Best gig I've ever been to and I've been to a lot! Love R.E.M ❤
Great upload! I wish these guys never parted ways
Same here...
Love Stipes melody in the second chorus sheer power!!
Wow, a live version where the lyrics are actually clearer than the studio version!

Powerful performance
2005 Glasgow Green gig was amazing!
I couldn’t understand then,
I understand now.
I was lucky enough to see them after they released UP and they were fantastic. I hope you can catch them live if they ever reform. Until then we have wonderful a TH-cam vids!

Great song, but the video is completely unwatchable, was there an earthquake?
A 4-minute-long earthquake!
Phillip Rodgers totally with you.. shame cause it's a brilliant performance
Yes the camera crew has apologized for that as they had been on an all day Guinness binge which is what is expected on a visit to Ireland, they said never again as they suffered for a week after and it put them off drinking for life.
Just Benzedrine things.
"What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine, uh-huh
I was brain-dead, locked out, numb, not up to speed
I thought I'd pegged you an idiot's dream
Tunnel vision from the outsider's screen
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
You wore our expectations like an armored suit, uh-huh
I'd studied your cartoons, radio, music, TV, movies, magazines
Richard said, "Withdrawal in disgust is not the same as apathy"
A smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth
You said that irony was the shackles of youth
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
"What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine, uh-huh
Butterfly decal, rearview mirror, dogging the scene
You smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth
You said that irony was the shackles of youth
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh

What would you do if someone punched you in the back of the head and said: "Kenneth, what's the frequency?"
Ckom -- Run.
@michaelestipe ❤️❤️❤️❤️Amo 🌺🌻☘️
Guitar sounds fucking unreal
"Butterfly decal, Windy Miller, dog in the sea..."
great song performed brilliantly . i would like to know what it is about ? Can anybody enlighten me please ?
It's about Dan Rather being mugged and the mugger kept yelling at him What's the frequency Kenneth?
ok thank you for you reply but ,,,,,why would a mugger say that,,? and where did you get that info please ?
He was strung out on something. Just Google dan rather mugging or title of song. ::)

Imply against your own nationality chickenshit
Amazing performance. Terrible editing.
Song of Dan Rather getting mugged in the Park. ( ;;
please get back together again. you don't need bill Berry to still make music like rem. he's a drummer for Christ sake.
horrible editing and shooting 😢😢😢
The video ruins a great song and performance here...
Pointless camera work. Unwatchable.
If only the cameras weren't on amphetamines...
Goosebumps!!!
