It's not a bad idea, it just seems to me that in the photo the person does not look as natural as it does when shooting natural light. The separation between the two is good, but the face, clothes and person seems a little underexposed almost. It may be my personal shooting style that has me thinking this way, but it doesn't seem to be as good a photo with flash vs without. Great tips though, and I always love to see what you share!
Agreed, I much prefer the no flash shots here, they look much more natural and beautiful. The exposure principles shown in this video have incredible uses, but for portraits like these, the end result is better without using the flash.
For soft/natural outdoor ambient, reflectors > flash.
This also goes as ambient light color temperature changes from time to time so a mismatch of ambient light to flash will give off an odd look

I had an experience not too long ago where 90% of the photos that I used with flash during a sunny day was far better than without (which was barely 15%)
With flash it's 100x better filling in the shadows

I don't know why ; but when I use my godox speed flash I can't put shutter speed and over 160 I can put below I can't over 160

Hello Andrew, I really enjoy your channel and teaching methods. Quick question, when you spot metered the ambient light in the background, how did you know to push your shutter speed exactly three stops? Was the model originally underexposed by 2 stops and you brightened the photo 3 stops to bring her exposure to -1 to match the -1 spot metering of the ambient light? Didn't quite understand the correlation between the -1 spot metering and you brightening the exposure on the model three stops with the shutter. Would appreciate your feedback, thanks!

you need more power than a speed light and the direct flash look is terrible.
It is ok, this is a quick setup shoot.
70% of our viewers are not strobe owners like you, sadly.
Those are covered in other episodes... this is mostly a 'on camera single flash' for travellers 😍
Remember, some Lamboghini owners will find most other simpler and cheaper cars 'terrible'. Some, like yourself.... 😁
No offense but these are quite bad examples, now do examples with off-camera flash with a 600W strobe. :)
