    Born and raised Oceanside native. The city has made so many tremendous improvements from what it used to be. Walking distance to the north is the harbor which is a must see. Harbor fish and chips is the best! The filming of The Animal Kingdom in Oceanside. That Star theater is haunted, a historical landmark. Welcome to Oceanside! I hope you enjoyed your experience, blessings to you both!😉☀️🏄‍♂️🏖️🏝️ It gets hot here high 80s and 90s.

    Lived in San Diego and Temecula for over 40 years, been to Oceanside only a few times during the summer with my kids and love it there. Grew up in Mira Mesa back in the 80’s, as teenagers we would either hung out at La Jolla or Mission Bay Fiesta Island with lots of friends building bond fires and BBQ. San Diego is so expensive to live and too crowded with lots of traffics. Last year I moved to a rural town in Texas an hour and a half from Austin, I’m retire and just love the peacefulness and the cost of living is much cheaper here. Thank you for the video, enjoyed watching and kind of miss SoCal but happy to be in Texas.

    Got to agree, loved the Sunsine Brooks theatre I just live art-deco buildings.
    Oceanview is well placed between San-diego and LA.
    Hotel looked nice you book a great suite. The pier may be long, but a bit boring when compared to Santa-Monica's. I see it's close to Camp Pendleton.

    Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your content. I recently found your channel and it’s so relaxing to watch after I get home from work, especially now that I haven’t had time to do so many impromptu trips now that I’m starting my career and not in college anymore. I can’t wait to get to a point in my life where I can take time and wander around the country seeing even the most off the beaten path parts of this country. I was always doing little trips around the Northeast when I was in school still given that I’m not the type of person to go tailgating or sit around, I miss those days very much, but I know it’s only temporary! Cheers!

It was a shame you couldn't go inside the Post Office, maybe next time !! The Mission was beautiful, and the bells and the choir singing were gorgeous, I've always loved church bells. Thanks for the hotel room tour, it looks beautiful. Thank you so much for another wonderful video, I enjoy them so much. 😊

When I lived in California (Southern CA - College (80-81) and Northern CAl - Work (98-99), the rents were so high that everyone needed a roommate. LOL.

    Hi from a balmy South London, UK where the current temperature is 41. What a fantastic place to visit, when I was in California, back in 1981, I only managed to visit Venice Beach in Los Angeles and a tour of San Francisco, unfortunately I was on a very tight budget so couldn't head south, but still enjoyed what I saw. Next time Nicole wants to party don't forget to invite the neighbours from over the pond!

      Although admittedly anecdotally based, my growing impression is that there are more foreigners who visit California than non-Californian Americans. A lot of prejudice of various kinds against it particularly among Easterners. Many have pledged never to go there. Vicarious viewing on occasion is OK, however.

    Moved from Anaheim to Oceanside in 1991 when home prices in Oceanside were low compared to Orange County. We love it and yes the downtown is much different than in 91 but the vibe is still laid back. I walk The Strand a couple of times a week. Your wife is lovely!
    I lived in Oceanside, on The Strand, in 1980. The city was gross, back then. Trash in the streets, especially downtown, lots of crime, intoxicated people all over the place. I don't think there was a public intoxication law back then. You couldn't go to a convenience store without getting propositioned - day or night- in or out of the store. I think it was U-Totem. Don't know if it's still there. That theater was definitely a porno place. I went there once just to check it out with my then husband. The apartment, on The Strand, was in an old structure from the 40's. We loved living right on the oceanfront. All those old building are now gone but it doesn't make me sad. Oceanside looks so beautiful now. Glad you guys had a nice time there.

    Nice drone work, I really like the flight over the pier. Looks like you lucked out and missed the recent storm when you were in Oceanside, but I imagine it caught up with you at some point. (snow? in Huntington Beach?!) The Top Gun house is kind of cool, an interesting companion location to Kansas City BBQ in San Diego, which proudly advertises itself as the location of "the sleazy bar scene". The first taco you had looks like a quesabirria--yum yum!

    Your comments about the trash really amuse me living in Bristol UK as your country seems generally much better in this respect. My wife every morning goes out early to clear dumped food waste butts and glass bottles etc before the schoolchildren come along. The average house price in our area is over £500000 and so very middle class. Like you I really despise the litter dumpers but I guess people who only think of themselves are prevalent in all countries ☹️

    Good evening Lord Spoda,
    and we are at the seaside! Nice pier, very Victorian type of thing that were made from cast iron in the UK but sadly not many left. City hall and library, this reminds me of North Africa and the Moorish style when I was in Tunisia back in 1970, very nicely done. Bet Sunshine Brooks theatre looks wonderful at night if the neon's are working, it has a full rib coming down and if they cascade it would be beautiful. The church next on the playlist, St Mary's Star of the sea is a classic design. If I ever get to that part of the world I'll nail a $100 dollar bill onto yours. The mission, no side pews, and pulpit to keep the punters focused and lots of icons. I do not follow any religion so each to their own but I like the architecture, and the sculptures are Grade A for artistic work. Worth a trip for the artwork.
    You pulled a rabbit out of the hat here as I had never heard of the place. Looks rather nice and I miss having a paddle in the sea. Be safe!

    • @daviddecelles8714
      @daviddecelles8714 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only proper material for piers is wood. The Victorians were obsessed with cast iron with which they made many things for which it was inappropriate.

    • @JoeandNicsRoadTrip
      @JoeandNicsRoadTrip  ปีที่แล้ว

      You know what SF, now that you point it out you’re right, that architecture is definitely Moorish influenced. Good catch. I don’t follow any religion either, the architecture is almost always interesting, though. 😀

    Oceanside has totally gentrified. Less then 10 years ago it was the one of the worst beach towns in Southern CA. Now it's really nice.

      Is it super expensive, too?

      @Willie Beamish One of the cheapest least affluent beach towns in SoCal which makes it very charming.

      La Jolla is the most expensive place in San Diego county with many homes above 10 million dollars and it's more beautiful than Oceanside.

    If I could live anywhere other than Texas, it would be Oceanside.

    I rode my scooter from Carrollton to San Diego, up the coast to San Francisco, Nevada, Moab, pikes peak then home. 4100 Miles in 4 days. I loved the scenery in California but didn’t care for the high prices or the unfriendly people. My favorite part was riding Highway one along the cliffs but the gas was 7.50 a gallon
