    Vilcabamba, summer camp for seniors. Been here 13 years. Still love it as much as I did on the first day.

    Thanks for all the helpful information. My wife and I are planning a 14 day trip to Ecuador in this Jan. We plan on making Vilcabamba our home base.

    So cute--a "chip"? I'm groaning at this end. Thanks for showcasing all the stuff we have going on in this village. Individual hobbies anyone? Weaving, painting, writing, playing music? Home gardening? We don't have the space you all do, but I am the queen of my geraniums and basil!

    Great video. Suggestion - Make a pdf listing all these wonderful activities and groups to join with contact information. That would be fabulous. I will be moving there within the next 6 months and am very interested in getting involved in the community. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the information that you share.

      Hi Diana! Thanks for the comment. We have thought about a comprehensive "Guide to Vilcabamba" in the past. The problem is, the information is always changing. Restaurants come and go and different organizers for different groups. We thought about a guide for "Where to buy things in Vilca and Loja. We just don't have enough free time to keep up with it. Perhaps that is a good project for you when you get here? Glad to offer my input where needed.

    Hi Guys, I so enjoyed finding you tonight on TH-cam. I ventured to Vilcabamba several years ago and spent a week at Ichcayumba. It was beautiful, but I couldn't find anything to do. I think my problem was, I'm a single woman and was shy about venturing out alone. I'm heading back to Ecuador in a few weeks to scope out a future home (I'm retired and free now). I'll be checking out Cotacachi this time around and will probably go back to Cuenca for a few weeks. May I stay in touch with you for advice? Brenda

      for sure, please keep in touch. WhatsApp is the best means to stay in touch when you get here. There are a lot of things to do here, but for someone passing through they might not always be as easy to find.

    My husband and I have visited both Cuenca and Loja/Vilcabamba, have our residency and are preparing to move this spring. As someone who loves music and dance, what I would most love in Vilcabamba would be an opportunity to learn the dances of the local people. I know salsa, and that salsa is familiar in much of Latin America; but am wondering if the people of Ecuador have their own traditional dances?

      I have no idea. I am sure others in this community could answer that question. It would be a matter of connecting with the right group.

    Do people do canning or preservatives in your town? Do they have local supplies for that ?

    • @jolifarms-Ecuador
      @jolifarms-Ecuador  ปีที่แล้ว

      We do canning (water bath). Not much available here for this.

    Unless I missed it somehow, I think I heard you mention every activity BUT fishing. What is the deal with fishing in Ecuador? With all the lakes and rivers there, you'd think there would be more discussion of fishing. Unfortunately, I can't find any info on that on the web. Are there regulations? I'm sure there are tours and such, but I want to know if and where I can fish if I move there. Otherwise, I'd probably just stay here in Florida

      People fish here, but more for food than sport. I am not sure about fishing all over Ecuador, but in Vilca I don't hear too much about it

    Thank you for a nice and informative video. This is the first time I have seen a clip from your channel. Liked and subscribed.
    I am a 48 yo single male from Sweden considering moving to Ecuador.
    You mentioned biking, are there also dirt bike trails?
    Is there paragliding there?

    • @jolifarms-Ecuador
      @jolifarms-Ecuador  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know about paragliding, but possibly at the coast. There are dirt bike trails, I am just not sure where.

    • @magnusb6311

      @@jolifarms-Ecuador Thank you. I know there are paragliding at several places on the coast, Quito and Cuenca. I was wondering more about the area where you are at. Same with dirt biking.

    What about coffee shops? Are there any down there? Also how much does it cost to open a restaurant done there

    • @jolifarms-Ecuador
      @jolifarms-Ecuador  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lots of coffee shops. Lots of restaurants. Not sure it is a very good business to be in here. Vilcabamba has a population of around 5k. There are over 70 restaurants. 2 are closing this week.

    again, its the person, not the country. Very gringo to think the town is boring vs thinking that THEY are bored. Thirteen year snowbird in Vilcabamba. Bored?. just hang out in the square.
