I don't know why I said I graduated in 2013! AND I don't know how I didn't notice the mistake while I was editing it! I must have been wanting to hide my age subconsciously lol I graduated UW and went back to Japan in 2007 :P

I have the biggest smile on my face right now! You are a one of a kind Chika! I am happy to see you on this channel again and I really hope you have the time to create more videos for this channel!
If I were to pick my favourite video on Japanagos it would have to be your hunt for the hot Ginger Ale. (It says Canadian Dry on the can....I live in Canada...I can't find it here)! Why do I like it the most? I've never seen someone go through so much for a drink! It was a lot of fun to watch. Of course I like all the videos on Japanagos but the ginger ale one has to be favourite. Quite the adventure!
    See you next time!!

Definitely Autumn in Japan. It was about an area that doesn't seem to be covered in any guide books and was just GORGEOUS and totally fascinating. But it also helps that fall is my favorite season and I love the color of changing leaves.

I love your channel because you show the festive events and unique parts of Japan that aren't included in the "must sees" for tourists. My favorite video is the summer festival where you and your friend went on the cruise ship. My gf and I went to Japan and loved our experience there.

#presentingjapan Hi Chika! That's a very difficult question because I love so so many of your videos, if not all. Of the top of my head the 'hinamatsuri' video and 'mount fuji' trip and the 'new years' one were among my favourites. I love the fact that you put so much effort into creating the dolls and everything that came with it.But above all, that you explained the history and meanings behind it all. That must have been sooo much work, and it really shows, because the result was captivating. Mount Fuji was filmed excellently and the view and your commentary were always on point. I also loved the food and new years traditions you described. I am generally a huge fan of cultures ( especially the japanese culture) and love finding out about where things originated and the meanings behind them That's why those videos are my favourites. :D much love from Germany!

I also really like the one where you went to Mt.Fuji and showed us Diamond Fuji; I didn't know about it until that video! And also the Misaki Sunday Market video, I love how friendly the sellers seem to be in that video and I think it was in that video that I also learned some vegetable names, like ピーマンand キュウリ lol

I wish I could say I've seen all your videos, but alas I haven't. If you are going to pin me down to just 1; I think the mac&chz video with all your roommates. why...... why...... hhmmmm....... I love mac&chz and just the way you get everyone to interact. They are full characters, not chika playing Sachiko, but Sachiko the real person. And I picked a video from your other channel.
From this channel I think " Japanese Ajisai (hydrangeas) in Kamakura" The flowers, the bamboo forest and just the whole natural beauty.
Having said all this, each of your videos are unique and to say one is better than the rest, is like saying a sunset is better than a sunrise. I hope all of your viewers say the same in that there is no best one, because they are all the best one.

Hello Chika, I have seen a couple of your videos.
It is very cool, you're speaking Japanese without any English accent despite growing up in the US.
In one video you stated, you can't read traditional Japanese Kanji. Can people read the newspaper without this in Japan?
As far as I know many texts in Japanese use a combination of Kanji and Hiragana or Katakana. How do you handle it?

    • @Mikaela_Westmt
      @Mikaela_Westmt 7 ปีที่แล้ว

I see that your comment is a year old, so I don't know if you'll find my response or not..but let me explain anyway.
Literacy rate in Japan is over 99%, so obviously most every Japanese can read and write - this of course includes Kanji.
There are apprx 6000 kanji in Japanese language, 2000 of which are the simplified "modern" kanji taught in school and are used officially in everyday basis; 1000 allowed to be used strictly for ppl's names, and the rest is the "classic or the traditional" ones you rarely use, let alone see, in everyday life but are only used in some special ways. (FYI, it is said that over 6000 kanji are registered in Japanese computers.)
So yea, when Chika said she didn't know the traditional kanji, she didin't mean the ones we learn in school.
But then of course, those 2000 officially used kanjis do include some difficult ones, so sometimes we may be able to read them but have hard time remembering how to write them..The situation is not at all like being able to read & write the "ABC's" as you can imagine, some people totally suck at it. Typing in Japanese and converting what you type into kanji on PCs and cell phones is so easy, it is doing us no good as far as actually writing kanji is concerned. 😞

      16年間→ for 16 years
      16年位→ about(around)16 years
      I guess.

+Tyrell Thomas 位 is the kanji for くらい or ぐらい
So 16年位 means "for about sixteen years "
