- I know A LOT of people have been wondering if the #rrracing #tune is worth buying. To be honest it most definitely is! but it is not a necessity; I still think it is something you should get eventually once you get an instake pipe, exhaust and headers if you want to take to the next level. It does everything it is designed to do and I personally think rr-racing killed it with this tune. It made my 250 feel a lot more fun to drive and I could honestly say that I am happy with my purchase I hope this video answer some of you guy's questions! thanks for watching..and don't forget to like comment and subscribe!

Thank you for sharing this video. Many of want to order RR racing tune, but had doubts. But this video is your honest opinion. As a car enthusiasts many of us appreciate that. Not pushing to go get the product. Currently own a 2014 IS350 RWD.

This tune should put the 0 to 60 on the 3rd gen is350 around the 4.9 sec like the 2nd gen does since you can get to 60 in 2nd gear.

Really thinking about getting the RR Racing Tune for my 2015 RC 350 F Sport. I installed their cold air intake and engine light is on. ODB test shows lean fuel. RR representative stated Tune is recommended after cold air intake install. Appreciate the video.

Thanks for the follow up vid! I have a '16 350 and seriously thought about getting the tune, especially after Lexus revealed no new engine for 2021. This video pushed me to the 'no' side, because it seemed like the car held on to the RPMs in regular driving. I have rev matching, so when I'm busting ass, he'll stay in the power band. For my normal commute, I want Lexus Serenity. :-) Thanks again for the vids, you were a GREAT help! Keep making them.
It does hold on to the rpms which isn’t necessary a bad thing, ISF do the same where you have to change gear it won’t change for you anymore or as much. Now I do think you should get a throttle controller to give you some more throttle response. I personally feel the stock throttle is super laggy

If anyone is wondering, I tuned my RC350 Fsport (2015). I'm hitting 353HP. Also, in manual mode, stock it did take some time to downshift from 7th to like 3rd or 4th. Now, it downshifts almost instantly. Paid $489 for the tune and it's incredible. (Private party tuner). I don't suggest a chip. You're goanna be paying upwards of 280-800 for a chip tune. Realistically, maybe hit 20-30 HP. I had one and yeah it helped a little bit, but not worth the money since I can spend an extra $150-200 for a Stage 1 and increase my HP to almost 50+.

Definitely man I understand complete I personally feel like you should eventually get it, it really does liven up the car a little bit. But it’s best to take your time and get all the essential things done first you know

I used to have a 2012 caddy cts 3.0 witha muffler delete and it sounded pretty close to that. It would be a good match up for a fact. It was pretty quick for a caddy 270hp bone stock other than the muffler delete
I could only wish my is250 would get to 270 hp lol but I do miss the exhaust I used to have in this video

If yall want to make a is250 some what fast here are some mods I recommend to do if you want lol. Fsport intake and filter or k and n intake , rr tune , ppe headers , axleback exhaust,mid pipe , and lsd swap with a 2014-2016 brz (these mods beat a 350z and neck to neck to a is350) or a supercharger by rr racing stage 1 you can run up to 360 whp and last stage for the supercharger is 500+whp.
If your gonna get a supercharger it’s reliable but if you do I recommend you to get a lower mileage transmission bc ik the engine can handle it but the transmission is not gonna handle it as well. It would be perfect to supercharge a is250 make it a sleeper .

It would be fine with that axel back. Axel backs don't affect anything ecu wise on the IS
Just tune my 2nd Gen IS250 w/RR racing tune, worth the money. (Long tube headers SS, mid pipe SS and Tsudo exhaust muffler system SS, Fsport Intake) down fall: wish torque was improved a bit more...
Yeah I mean for what it is and what it’s going in, it’s a decent upgrade it’s a 250 is not meant for speed lol but you’re right if it had more low end torque it would be a lot more fun to drive.

I just bought the Q 300 from invidia axle back and plan to buy the mid pipe along with the ECU tune from RR racing.
I do.. my exhaust setup is a tsudo midpipe with a rc350 invidia q300 axle back.. an exhaust will definitely help free up some of the restrictive exhaust gases. So you’ll be good

Lol nah man no fuel pump needed, this isn’t like a stand-alone ecu tune for a 240sx.. this tune is more like a flash to your stock ecu. So it does change your fuel mapping amongst other parameters but it’s not going past it’s limit on the injectors. Lexus ecus has what’s called knock correction learning valve, which essentially means the ecu learns itself based on the knock detection but will not go past that point. You do not need a fuel pump but what I do recommend is a bottle of royal purple or STP 5-1 fuel injector cleaner, RR RACING intake tube (do not remove your stock air box), and an free flowing exhaust. As for headers you can get that later on if you wanted

Yep. This tune is no joke. There are gains from having at least a cat back exhaust, fsport Intake, lowered springs and lighter wheels. I just got mone today and tuned it right away. Easy peasy👍😁

Got mine today as well, the car drives so much smoother and the rev-limiter moving up higher to 7200 rpm is a real treat. I have fell in love with my car all over again.

My 250 0-60 is Nothing to compared to what a is300 would put out lol.. yours would be about the same 0-60 of a IS350 would put out if not a little faster with the other supporting mods

You may want to change the front Lower Control Arm Bushing on the IS to harder bushings.
Thanks for the update , Just to put it out there, I live 45 mins away from RR and last Monday drove up and had my 250 tuned . Love it 💯 but today I was driving and a check engine light popped on also I was driving with trac off and after CEL cannot turn trac back on. I used my buddies ecu scanner and the code is PO172 system too rich bamk1 . I let the car sit for a bit but still the light is on with trac off . The car seems to be driving just like it was after tune and no issues idling or anything. I sent RR an email and will call them when they open.
Damn sorry to hear dude but I looked it up and I found Out P0172 could be a number of different things 1. Dirty MAF sensor 2. Worn spark plugs 3. O2 sensor etc. I would start with the easiest thing and work my way down. If your engine is still running fine and not hesitating/ misfiring I doubt it would be a faulty injector or spark plug
Did you put an injection cleaner into your tank? If you did and filled up with Premium, this could've flagged the code too.
Just used 93 gas and nothing else.

Not necessarily tbh I mean driving with trac on everyday because driving without it is unsafe I really don’t feel the difference

Nah I got it while the tune was being loaded scared the shit out of me but it went away when the tune was installed
did the tune come with preinstalled maps or do you have to take the car to a local tuner?
The tune is all preset by rrracing no tuner need.. if you want to change some parameters you may need to contact rracing
I have 16 IS300 and I have been contemplating on getting the tune. I know the IS300 gets the most HP with the tune but the thing is, I don’t really drive in manual too much. Do you think it’s still worth getting the tune?
Personally yes because you do get the HP gain regardless of manual mode but you don’t get to hit the 7200 rpm. you do get the throttle response as well. So that hp gain is more then enough to feel a difference in your car

Yes and no, I mean I would only get it if I had the extra cash laying around but you do have a 300 which will give you a noticeable increase in HP according to RR RACING dyno sheets. As for headers that will free up exhaust restrictions which in theory give you the most out of the tune but it’s not needed for the tune itself
After my invidia q300 cat back my car 350 would pop here and there when I would slow down at stop lights. So the apexi throttle make a difference even with the rr racing tune?
Mine does the same, it’s loud now but mostly because of the bad gasket on the headers.. and yeah the throttle controller does work with the tune.. you really do feel it on launch or 1-3rd gear after 4-6 it’s pretty much non existent or for your sake 5-8 gear you’ll probably lose the extra push the throttle controller gives
How bad is the tune for your car in the long run? I’m not talking like how bad is it always driving at 7.2k rpm all the time, I know that the car doesn’t like that and it wouldn’t last long. I’m talking more in general, daily driving with the occasional 0-60: how does the tune effect the car’s reliability and durability. I bought Lexus because I want something that’s fun and will last. I’m really loving the ida of this RR Racing tune, but I need to know how bad it will be on my engine first. Thanks!
The tune isn’t bad at all RRRACING does all their testing in house on their own dyno so I’m sure a lot of R&D went into the tune before they put it out there and I’m not hyping them up but reason why I went with RRRACING was for reliability. As for driving at 7200 rpm all the time... yeah don’t do that lol but you do get more out of your powerband if you were to go full throttle. I haven’t had an issue yet.
i've had my tune on my FBO 250 3IS for the last 20kish miles, absolutely no problems whatsoever. I just recommend you get your spark plugs replaced bc you'll be hitting that 7200 rpm a lot

Check for leaks in the exhaust system, if not check your o2 sensor or possibly your catalytic converter

yeah it would, i recommend getting the intake with it. Makes a huuge difference 2nd-3rd gear with tune+intake

GSF is reliable, I have a RCF FBO, the engine is basically bullet proof, plus you can put OEM parts back on. Go for it. I don't have a TH-cam channel but my IG Burlhorse.
I agree the reliability has been awesome so far! And you can always return the tune back to stock if you wanted too which is the reason why I got this tune. And I believe RRRACING knows what they are doing for sure, otherwise they wouldn’t be in business lol

Sorry for the late reply, not really as active as I used to be on YT but not much I pretty sure it’s not a crazy amount. I haven’t dyno’d the car because it would be a waste of money but does the car feel a lot more responsive. definitely is it something I would buy if I’m on a budget probably not. If you have extra money laying around the yeah for sure. For a is300 it would be a lot more worth it

I just removed the IS250 badge and left the FSPORT badge, installed the sprint booster v3 and I forgot it was ever a IS250 lol
Honestly that’s all you need to do, add in some 300/350 brake calipers and no one will ever know lol

Does anyone know if this will make my 2016 Is300 make pops and crackles? Or does anyone know if any other exhaust or tune will help my car make pops? I currently have a Remark axle back exhaust.
No pops and bangs with this tune. The tune you’re looking for a call mforce.ca I think. My exhaust does pop when shifting the trans at high rpm and burples when coming to a stop but that’s cause of the exhaust and midpipe combo not because of the tune.
Just know RRracing will give you the most HP gain for your is300 as opposed to having little to no HP gain just the pop and crackle option. But it’s all up to you

What are the benefits of keeping traction control off?
I mean it feels slight more responsive then with it off but again it’s not noticeable really.. I’ve kept mine on lately and there’s no difference plus it’s safer lol

Hell yeah man if you want you can definitely do that.. it’s a really nice drive, you could even get a dyno on time lol but just remember you can always revert back to stock and if you have to do it yourself it’s really simple
Worth it for a 350?
It is if your what the 7200 rpm, faster shift points, better throttle response but as for HP it doesn’t give you much as a is300. With the support mods like exhaust intake and headers you can make something that’s noticeable. I left a chart on the video of what it was dyno’ day for 350.. it’s some where towards the end

The timing on the RedLine gonna blow up your engine. Hence the tune also turns off safety for your ECU

Bro get a GS350. I got one, they are a bargain. IS prices are inflated and as you know they are slow outside of the even more price inflated IS350. Don't torture yourself with a slow car, get everything you want with a GS350
Not doing RR but doing sector7. I think RR tune has been out way to long without making improvements
Which is a good choice, they really took their time with tuning especially trying to figure out the tq converter lock and trans tunes. Last I check they still were developing a engine tunes though. Are they actually done with it
Chris Kheluram definitely still in beta from what it looks like. The software development process is time consuming but looking forward to a more personalized configuration. RR has done a great job with their flash systems, but’s it’s time to have some more options. My opinion of course given that F owners don’t have many options. Btw f not f-sport 😆🤷🏻♂️😎
