I like how Aegon V's sons all had uncommon relationships for the Targaryens at that point in time: Duncan married a common girl and gave up his claim to the throne. Jaehaerys II returned to Targaryen incest which when I thought about it hadn't happened in the direct line of succession for generations. Previously, Aegon V, Maekar I, and Daeron II all married non Targaryen women. And lastly Daeron was rumored to be gay which was also unique with the Targaryens and died with his lover

If only Duncan the Tall had been able to give his namesake a few clouts in the ear. Imagine going into combat against a man who helped save your life because the son of your friend and sworn king had selfishly insulted him. Also let’s not forget poor Rhaelle-while it seems the marriage turned out well enough she was plucked from her home and sent off to the home of a proud man who had just rebelled against her family.
This is a big mistake. Aegon Targaryan should have killed the Baratheons and should not have allowed his daughter to marry a traitor. If Aegon 5 had killed the Baratheons, Robert would not have killed Rhaegar.
@@ВелиалВинчестер if he had massacred the Baratheons it would’ve been almost as bad as Aerys II killing the Starks. Lyonel agreed to single combat to settle the rebellion after minimal bloodshed. @@Jake-h7g Duncan knows full well that when princes make decisions like this, it’s the smallfolk who suffer. He ended the rebellion quickly before much blood could be lost, but even in his victory he likely wasn’t happy. It’s implied that Jenny was a see’r and her friend being a child of the forest very probable that Jenny was an agent working on behalf of bloodraven who is well established as three eyed at this point and knows that the targ line cannot continue through Duncan so Jenny bewitched him which is actually a kinder fate than befell other targ princes and kings… Often thought of the ramifications of no Jenny and it’s a typical grrm set up and bait situation. I'd be very interested to see this part of Targaryen history in HOTD. I pity Aegon the Unlikely since his 5 children resulted in 4 broken betrothals. Yes, Egg chose love himself but he wasn't in line for the throne then. He tried to take his brother Aemon's advice to "kill the boy and let the man be born" once he became king but that failed miserably
i do think a lot of the issues he faced as king was down to the very fact he was never expected to be king and thus didn't have the preparation others heirs did. Maybe if Maekar had lived longer things may have played out differently.

Judging by what we know of Dunk, I think he would have approved of Duncan the small marrying Jenny

It might look like a love story on the surface-but LOOK at what this marriage does to the targaryens specifically and the world in general.
Wonder what happened to Jenny after the tragedy of Summerhall abd the death of her husband?
She probably died there with Duncan
She's very likely dead. Her friend the Ghost of High Heart manage to return to the Riverlands and still cry whenever she listen to Jenny's song.

I think Barristan actually defeated Duncan the Tall not the small at the Winter Tourney. Makes sense given Duncan is notorious for losing jousts.
