I use one of these and you’re right, definitely a two man job. I use a 57 mm bolster chisel I create a channel in the ground to allow the upright spikes to fit in without having to hit the fittings. The length of the channel gives lateral movement to adjust the uprights. Makes life easier if the grounds hard.
