Man that Les Paul and a wide open Tone Master in your hands just sold Andertons and Fender a lot of these amps. I’m not sure you know just how important you are to guitar players everywhere in this crazy time we find ourselves. Keep being you, brothr

Yes, I agree with your post! Also, Dave, having an open mind to solid state and modeling amps, offers a breath of fresh air approach to reviewing these amps. Rather than getting hung up on the fact that these are only traditional cosmetically, Dave just plays the amp and judges it with his ears, if it sounds good, Dave's playing goes to a whole 'nuther realm!!!😎👍

Lee should really consider adding Dave to his payroll and making him a regular gear reviewer/demo man. Don't get me wrong, Pete and Rabea and the rest are good... but Dave's playing is more engaging, with a much broader range. He brings something unique that none of them do, and an enthusiasm and authenticity that can't be matched.

I want to see Dave stay independent if possible He is so unique that tying him to a machine like Andertons doesn't feel right to me. Imho of course.

Thank you Dave! I ordered a Deluxe Reverb Tone Master a couple of days ago. And whilst I've been waiting for it to arrive, I stupidly went and read discussions by opinionated people arguing about the tone of this amp on the internet, which... made me feel sad and gave me buyer's remorse. But Dave, you have cured that remorse and doubt! This amp sounds GLORIOUS! I'm now excited again about the amp's arrival.

I played one in a shop when looking for a new guitar....I was amazed, and I own a tube Fender. This was when it had just come out, so I hadn't read about it yet. I own a DR Tone Master, the Blackface version, and I so deeply love it, it's just the perfect amp for me, the best I've ever owned so far. It sounds beautiful, weighs nothing and is versatile and loud enough for every possible scenario I might need it. Recording on a studio? Yes, both from the speaker and the direct out with IRs. Playing live with my band? Yes, and I can adjust the attenuator on the back to keep my front pannel volume unaltered and still adapt the level to the room. Rehearsing or just noodling in my room? Yes, it can be quiet enough to play at 11:00 p.m. without sacrificing tone and upsetting the neighbors. My only advice? If you use distortion pedals (overdrive, fuzz, distortion, boost or even compressor), you might want to upgrade the firmware to get rid of the virtual bright cap. I upgraded mine to the firmware for the Blonde version, without bright cap and improved reverb control... And I'm convinced I've never played anything as good and versatile (again, for what I play/look for/do)
Do enjoy your Tone Master and tell those tube snobs to keep their mouths shut! Greetings from Mexico!

I know it may seem rather simple, but I absolutely love that Fender includes the foot switch. Other brands (Boss) make you buy foot switches separately for their solid state amps. The Katana line is great, but it sure is annoying having to go out and buy something immediately after making an amp purchase.

I am obsessed with the Deluxe reverb tone master. Lmao. I bought the Blonde with Oxblood speaker cover and then watched this video hundreds of times. Even after I bought it. Which was almost a month ago. It just sounds sooooo good. You really need to try the Blonde version bro. Seriously. I have played both. The Original you have and the Blonde, which I now own, but in the store when it came out. But I played that Original multiple times. It sounds the business absolutely. But oh my, there is something about this Blonde that says, "I'll take that bet and go all in". Oh sweet baby Jesus, this amp is a you must demo it. Andertons did a good job, but your in depth version is breath takingly great. You put the amps in ranges they don't. PLEASE demo this amp. I want to see you loose your mind on this one. If you think that super reverb and deluxe are amazing, do the Blonde Deluxe. Please. Do the Blonde twin after, but the Blonde Deluxe has that midrange push with the Celestion that sends it to almost Super Reverb Tone Master. Just please. I would love to hear you demo that. I don't have your experience or skills in playing, yet. I just started and have been doing your blues lessons. BTW, tremendous. Thank you

👏👏👏Best ToneMaster (TM) review I’ve seen ! I’m a new Blonde TM owner and did a lot of research. I love this “virgin” approach of a simple camera/room mike setting, the unboxing, spontaneous genuine reactions, starting with the normal channel at low volume then moving through all the settings arriving at the maxed out overdrive setting attenuated to a tolerable level. Your decades of experience oozed out of your playing …the viewer can tell the amp is inspiring you and ultimately took you on an invigorating, transformative musical journey. Thank you for sharing and posting this. 👍😎

I see the Rory Gallagher album. He is one of a few blues players who cannot possibly get old to listen to. I think I heard his influence in your playing especially when you picked up the Les Paul. I have to say, for a room mic, that’s a killer sound and that goes for microphone sound quality in general really. When I get home from college I’ll be buying a Tone Master Twin Reverb Blonde to replace my Vox AC30VR. That Vox is really far from the classic Vox sound. This video is demo enough for me to feel confident in my choice to replace the Vox. My next Vox will be the Conqueror. I like Rory Gallagher’s sound, but the late Beatles’ only Vox amp is more my thing. It’s also because of them that I’m getting the Fender. A Fender hit with a fuzz is a good Beatles sound.

I bought a Bugera attenuator ( $100) for my Bugera G20watt amp and I love it , turn all knobs to 12 o clock , then attenuator I turn down to low wattage and then jam as I have my tv volume at regular listening level and my neighbors don’t even know I’m rocking next door with all my tones sounding off 👍
Btw ... love that new amp you just unbox and made remember how much I missed my old 100 watt fender frontman amp ...

These have been out a couple years now. Where have you all been. I bought one as soon as they came out. I’m an older dude with a bad back. The light weight sold me, of course the great tone.

Superb video, Dave. It was made all the more impressive because of the high-quality room mic and the obvious sincerity you showed when just testing out the TMDR while just getting lost in the tones!
Is there any chance that while you have this amp, you could do a side-by-side video of the TMDR and a much cheaper modelling amp (Fender clean to OD tone of course, including reverb) such as the Katana and/or the Fender Mustang? I'd certainly appreciate it as I'm really leaning towards the TM but as you put it, "I can't afford it!", and I'm sure it would interest many others too. Keep up the great work!!!

Congrats Dave, that should be nice cooperation with Andertons. Rob is on Malta and he cannot be involved so maybe it`s a chance for you to cooperate with Lee. I would like to see that, your last intro jam with Lee was insane.

Absolutely drop dead amazing Fenderlicious sounds, all the better by being Dave Simpsoned. For clean you just can't do better and this should be part of any recording setup. Marshall/Orange is the Ying to fenders Yang and life is not complete without both (sobs as he realizes he does not have a Fender lol).

That slow bluesy part you played from 25:26 was absolutely amazing. Peter Green is smiling somewhere.
On the subject of the amp - great sounding but I wish it was more affordable. It's a lot of money for a digital processor with a speaker.

  • @youngandrew66

Dave these are great. If u have a treble booster set the deluxe to 6 or 7 and hit it with the booster. You can get an almost dumble like drive with your guitar volume wide open and glassy tones with it rolled back. Try it sir.
