I just got for this Amp based on this review and I am absolutely blown away!! I was worried I was going to regret it given the small size, but wanted something compact for use in my home studio, and I absolutely fell in love with it. The tones are super clean, no distortion at all, loud enough to fill an entire room, and the effects are sweet. I can’t put my guitar down :) ….Highly recommend it, you will love it.
Phillip, I have the Boss Katana II 50. Is the Fishman Micro worth buying for acoustic playing or do you think the Katana covers both the electric and acoustic well enough? Is there a really big sonic difference?
Cool. I too dig the Loudbox Mini. It’s such a workhorse. Not only does it sound very good with my acoustic guitar and vocals, I use it for all sorts of things with my electric guitar and bass with a looper. It sounds pretty darn good with my pedal board run thru a Joyo American Sound pedal for home practice. I’d bet the Micro would be just as practical.
Thanks, Phil! I have wondered about this smaller Fishman Loudbox amp and how it compares to the next size up. I wish you would have let us hear a side by side sound comparison between both models so we could hear the difference in volume and bottom end. This model does sound lovely, though. What would happen if you plugged an electric guitar with to humbuckers into one of these Fishman Loudbox amps? Are the tones usable? Or is that a bad idea, lol?
I have a Fishman Loudbox Artist I got back in 2017. I love it. It's probably overkill for my needs. I can easily believe the Mini or Micro would be equally great when you don't need the extra volume.
Phil, I love my LoudBox Mini, what I didn't like was the cheap leatherette covering that disintegrated over the number of years I've had it. Being a woodworker, I rebuilt the box out of clear mahogany still looks and sounds great. Not sure the newer ones are tolex.
Where the fishman really shines, is with raw piezo pickups often found on mandolins or ukes. We have the 100 watt model with two row of knobs and it takes a "honky" sounding mandolin and makes it sound wonderful. I normally use the fishman bar (magnetic) pickups for acoustic guitars. They do sound a touch electricish but pretty good and will work fine with any transformer style DI boxes . Just makes my life a lot less complicated. If I really want pristine sound for recording, mic it.
You play beautifully on this video. I feel like the less is more approach to playing works great for gear demos since you can hear every note and the articulation etc
How does this sound with an electric guitar through a modeling pedal (UA or other)? I’m looking to both downsize and consolidate and play acoustic and electric guitars (including a hollow body jazz box).
Thanks for this timely review, as I am looking to purchase another acoustic amp. A big shout out also, for you using an Orangewood, I have one too, the Sage Live, equipped with LR Baggs Anthem electronics, which sounds incredible plugged into to an amp or direct.
I love Fishman - but I think i´ll wait til this MICRO is available as the CHARGE version. I´ve had my LOUDBOX MINI ten years . Its been through the wars, I ripped off the crappy plastic cover - reminded me of my old early 80s school bag!!. I removed the brick of MDF off the top to help the heat sink - and drilled extra vent holes in the sides - lined with Fender machine head ferules!! Mr FISHY is Good for another summer .
Hey Phill… any chance you could do a video on using the Loudbox Mini as sound and power with a pedal board for something like a UA Dream or even a Joyo AMS. As a guitarist who also does vocals and acoustic, and lugs a full PA to our band’s gigs, having the Loudbox Mini around is extremely practical. I an use it as a monitor on stage, a powered speaker for my pedalboard for home practice, etc. It also works great with my pedalboard run through a looper with drums. The full range speaker sound Eyal good, to my ears, for both guitar and the drums, and even my bass guitar run through a Tech 21 pedal. The Mini is probably my most useful, cost effective, practical piece of musical gear.
you can but acoustic amps have a tweeter typically. I used a fender rumble bass amp with a tweeter for years as an acoustic amp and it sounded great...musch louder that an acoustic amp to boot!
Amplified acoustic tone really benefits from a full range speaker arrangement. Acoustic amplifiers will typically feature two separate drivers. One coned driver for bass/mids and a separate tweeter of some type for the high end.
This is a great sounding little 2 channel amp …I would like another demo with a microphone and looper . I have a Fishman acoustic pickup and it comes with a humbucker and sound hole cover . The wire gets in the way while I play… a little distracting …I like the pickup you’re showing …much better.
I recently checked out the Godin grand master nylon and they plugged me into the Mini at Sam Ashe. I was really impressed with the guitar but the amp really surprised me. Great little amp? The micro was right next to it and something a little bigger but the clerk said the Mini was the better amp for that guitar. Sort of the 3 little bears story. hahaha.
Holy crap, Phil! I had my headphones turned up so I could hear the video and then about 1:51, you about blew my ears out! Great video, but that audio scared the living crap out of me. Ha ha ha. Thank you for your work! ;-)
It sounded really good through the studio monitors that I have my laptop plugged into. That might work for a small room using it for a monitor/controller into a small PA? (sorry if you said that, didn't catch it). As I get older I look for smaller, lighter and less things to haul around. 8) Great review!! 8) --gary
I have a Loudbox Mini. If you put a Joyo American pedal in front of it, it is a KILLER electric guitar amp/ pedal platform. Destroys my Supro Delta King 12.
i've been beating the snot out of my Loudbox Mini for over 5 years and it still looks and sounds great. the micro is cool but the external power adapter is a deal breaker for me.
I get it, I do, really. But the whole giveaways are for the US only is a real drag for anyone that is not a US resident. I was watching a Canadian channel with a sponsored giveaway and the winner there also had to be a US resident. These companies make big profits from this marketing venue they should be will to support the channels by offering to cover any int shipping.
Don’t think you do get it. It’s not just the shipping fees, each country has its own laws around giveaways and sweepstakes so most people don’t want to risk not being in compliance with the many different variations of the laws, so they just do US only.
@@deluxeg That would be the list of ineligible countries that is listed on the Big Sumo website that is used to run these giveaways. So no, it's not that complicated.
We have a winner!! Congratulations Prannoy Pinto. He has responded to my email and amp is going out tomorrow. A huge thank you to all who entered.

Would like to know too
Ditto

does it handle distorted/ overdriven sounds from your electric and pedal board?

It’s not bad for jazz guitar.
Man!, your playing sounded so good, thanks Phil. 🎸🎶🎶🎶

Keep artist and get micro for something more portable. That way u can choose which one suits ur needs that day
Love it. The only problem I had was the sides peeled off on the mini. Does it do that?
I ended up rebuilding the box out of mahogany looks wonderful and still sounds great
Yeah, Simone else also said that earlier, cool.
Fishman has improved the outer covering since the first series.

I just purchased on Philip to go along with my Fishman Loudbox Performer. I am using it as a monitor on acoustic gigs.
I have the Boss Acoustic Singer and it is just fantastic. I prefer that over the Fishman Loudboxes
Christopher Cross, perfect to showcase the beautiful sound quality of the amplifier. Well played Philip 👏 KYG!!! 🤘🤓
The Fishman amps are huge with all the local bar / marina / restaurant "barstool" solo players down here in Florida

I am going to buy a PRs guitar Saturday. Do you have a link for Guitar Center? Thanks
Very cool amp. The reverb and chorus sounded good. Thank you for the video!
I love m y Loudbox Mini. This seems like a great addition to the line. Peace

Is there any reason you can’t just use a regular guitar amp on clean for your acoustic guitar?
A keyboard amp would probably be better...guitar amps color your tone

Thx for this Phillip. You’re the best. More acoustic guitar “stuff” would be nice.
Phil do you have the capability to run two guitars into the Micro?
I recently checked out the Godin grand master nylon and they plugged me into the Mini at Sam Ashe. I was really impressed with the guitar but the amp really surprised me. Great little amp? The micro was right next to it and something a little bigger but the clerk said the Mini was the better amp for that guitar. Sort of the 3 little bears story. hahaha.
The acoustic tone is awesome. Would be cool if Phil just hung out on stream and jammed for an hour.
I’ve used the Fishman as a monitor, using it with the Bose L1 systems with great results, so this new one might be even better for that setup!
Holy crap, Phil! I had my headphones turned up so I could hear the video and then about 1:51, you about blew my ears out! Great video, but that audio scared the living crap out of me. Ha ha ha. Thank you for your work! ;-)
I need one! I had to borrow my cousin's amp for a gig the other day and it made me realize I need an acoustic amp!
Really good presentation Phil!
I like the way the guitar sounds through this amp.
Anybody know what happened to the h-150 review?
Fishman makes great products....never been disappointed.
Great rundown of this amp
It sounded really good through the studio monitors that I have my laptop plugged into. That might work for a small room using it for a monitor/controller into a small PA? When you said matrix infinity I thought you were going to install a PS2 modchip in your guitar 😂
I have a Loudbox Mini.
If you put a Joyo American pedal in front of it, it is a KILLER electric guitar amp/ pedal platform.
Destroys my Supro Delta King 12.
Is there a link to buy your guitar stand? I can’t find it. I must be blind. Are you still selling them?
Lol Zager Easy Play Guitar Ad appeared before your video 😆
i've been beating the snot out of my Loudbox Mini for over 5 years and it still looks and sounds great. the micro is cool but the external power adapter is a deal breaker for me.
Oh man I want to know more about that pickup and how to instal if you get a chance
We need to hear a piezo guitar through it.
Great video! Thank you.
Sounds great very clear
Nice review, Phil!
Phantom power for a condenser mic?
Unfortunately not.
Niiice, I have the mini myself. If I had any more room I would consider this little thing.🤪
Fish Man makes neat stuff.
Great review !
Well done Sir!!! Oohraahhh!!!!!
Fishman my main money maker
anyone knows if it is possible to use the( Positive grid Bias fx 2) software "from a ipad" into a Fryette ps100 into a cab or into a amp then a cab?
⚓️ Thanks Phill 🌈
Nice and thanks for the chance 😎✌️🤟🎸
that sounds wonderful!
Nice review
That’s a nice little amp!
I think I might grab one of these. Presuming I don't win this one, of course 😉
Angel eyes steelheart
Ok
Micro is for on time.

Yep. Australian here. 😢
As someone in the UK I hear you, but I guess logistically it would be a nightmare - taxes, import duty, shipping.

Coomlord dont be a asshole
Sailing.....takes me away...
Bro i almost watched a video for an amp for acoustic
Youpity boop-boop!
Sweet!
I never understood the headphone jack. Couldn't you just not plug the guitar in instead of using headphones.
Your live premears, are too short!
Cool.
Kinda looks like a Fisher Price toy!
