Is Machu Picchu Worth It In 2020? | Traveling Peru
#Peru #Machupicchu #trentandallie
We studied South America back when I was in the 5th grade (late sixties.) I caught Inca fever back then and have always wanted to experience Machu Picchu and the Andes. Intrepid explorers such as you two bring it so much closer than National Geographic or an impersonal documentary could ever do. Thank you for sharing! Praying for traveling mercies for you (especially the white knuckle flyer).Glad you have Frank to help you.
Machu Pichu is incredible place. As I live in Chile I've been able to visit there twice when having family visiting me from Finland. And I still want to get back to explore more.
I'm keen to see where you get next.
Additional note; culinary experiences in Peru is one of the closest things to be in heaven.
There are days you know when you wake up, you will make memories that will last until you are old and gray. Those are the best days, and this was one of yours. Congratulations.
Jose is an awesome dude. He was the guide me and my friends had on our 3D/4N Inca Trail hike and really made the experience for us. One of my friends appreciated his help so much he left Jose that hiking backpack that he is wearing in your video!
That’s awesome!!!
"Those people knew".....I believe "those" people knew far more than we ever give them credit for. I hope this was a life changing experience. Just watching videos of what ancient cultures left behind for us to witness has been life changing for me. I can only imagine what you experienced.......thank you.
There's only one continent that I have ever wanted to visit because of how beautiful it is was Europe. I never thought of South America as a place I would ever want to travel; I had always written it off. You have really opened my eyes. While I still want to go see medieval castles and the Alps in Europe, I am now wanting to go see the customs and cultures of the South Americans as well. How beautiful, majestic, and so rich in culture South America is! Thank you for opening my eyes.
Glad to help show you what’s down here, we also had no idea what we were missing either!!!
Same here. For me in Norway it is a long way. But still they have opened my eyes and shown a part I wasn’t aware of.
If it's rv in Europe carefull of Italy France and U.K. The moped gangs new money racket. Another utube blogger just got funny gases 3-4 while they were sleeping, broken into and every thing was taken. Police recommend gas detector. Targeted because of passing through and alone. Beside eu states in recession. The hundred of thousand refugees. & The Gypsy thieves. Utube it. Times has change. Just info.
@@thomas4315 gassing in RVs is an urban myth that does the rounds from time to time. Violent crime in South America however is in a different league and you need to have your wits about you.

_"Is Machu Picchu Worth It In 2020?"_
hell yes, *a resounding YES!*
Allie , it could never be !meaningless to be in Macho Pichu.
This aged badly..
Hello, I read all the messengers and have felt prouder of my beautiful country. Thank you all.
We are full of history (at school we study all the cultures, 5,000 years of history, since the first city Caral in the dessert Coast jajaja) We had 12 cultures developed before the Quechuas or Incas, (the last culture before came the “developed” conquers).
They took all the experiences about construction, about hydrography, and improved them, how to use the “mamapacha” “Mother Earth” without damage her, because they thought, the earth gives what we need to live (food) and the rivers, coming from the rain and “Apus” snow (mountains snow) and grown waters (the water) So, they grew as I very respectful culture that loved the place they lived.
In Perú we are lucky, we have a tradition. In the last year (Senior?) most of schools have a trip, if the live in the rain forest go to the Andes or the coast to see the Pacific Ocean, if the are from the mountains they go to the rain forest or the sea, I live in Lima (the Coast) and usually is to Machu Picchu, mine was in 1972 (now I’m 63 years old) and never forget that travel. I return in 2007 with one of my daughters in her school trip.
All the Sacred Valley, Cusco, the archeological sites, and of course Machu Picchu, are full of spirituality. Many Peruvians go to receive the new year in Cusco to fill up of energy for the next year.
Allie and Trent thank you for showing my beloved country, have a very Happy Hollydays specially with yours families, and hopping your return to South America, that has a lot more to show. Kisses.
PD: sorry for writing to much. 🙈🙈🙈😂😂😂🎄🎄🎄
007nadineL Happy Holidays. Feliz Navidad y un excelente año 2020. 🎅🏻🎄🎁🎉🍾🥰🤗
I visited Peru last May and love it. Peru is so much more than Machu Picchu. The history, the people, the foods... Also went to the Amazon, Puno, Lake Titicaca. It was a wonderful experience 😍😎👍🏻👍🏻
The incas were also invaders of other andeàn people.
You truly are blessed. Peruvians are such beautiful people. We fell in love with all of our guides. How I yearn to go back. 💕💕
Trent the smile on your face and light in eyes was as though you had arrived home for the first time in a long time. 😎 Maybe you have been there before in another lifetime. You have a real connection. 😉
my daughter went there and hiked for 4 days on the whole trail of all the ruins along the way. she said best trip ever
Well it seems the answer to the title question is “YES!” I did the same as you, train to Aquas Calientes. The train looks way nicer, and the process more systematic and computerized. When I went in 2001 people were like “you’re going where???” We got back to Chicago days before the strikes on 9/11. I’ve also heard sunset is nice, and another time for less crowds. Glad you made it and had a great time!
Machu Picchu is sinking like Vienna. Go before they stopped tourism.
Blue Sky tourism’s will never stop.
It brings in way to much money. Money rules.
Pi Pi island in Thailand is been destroyed by tourism and shot be closed but the big hotel fight against it . Only Mother Nature can but a stop to it.
Thank you so very very much for posting your experience! We were there exactly this time four years ago and not a time do we think about Peru and Machu Picchu that we STILL don’t feel that Spiritual overwhelming feeling of Gratitude for being someone who actually stood and walked there. This video show the very pictures in my memory. So grateful for YOU!!! Thank you!!!!
Those stray dogs made me cry, but they’re friendly that means they are not abused😍
My heart went out to those dogs. I would want to take them home wit me, but know that would not be possible.
They are all nice there and mant belong to homes but are free to roam when they want :)
Wrong they are not stray dogs. These dogs wander the streets or guard the house during the day and they always go home around 5pm because the dog knows that if they are not home when there owner gets home they will not eat. A local told me that. When I was in Cusco.
They’re not stray dogs
Uhhh no, the stray dogs in cusco will bark and bite you, you should watch out if you're going to the less touristy parts
Watching this has brought a lump in my throat and if I blink, tears are gonna roll down my cheeks. Even thru your lens, this place is magical and spiritual. Thank you so much for sharing what I’ll never see in person.
Wow!!! I’ve seen it on tv before but this was even more amazing, it was like I saw it through your eyes.
I spent a month in Peru in 1983, including camping at the foot of Machu Picchu. I’m enjoying your videos and seeing what has changed. And yes Machu Picchu was magical. I was fortunate to be there when the crowds were tiny.
Machu Picchu was the first place in the world i traveled to once i left the rat race in the U.S......has a magical feel, amazing vibe....with the peaks towering around you and the valleys below like an abyss, it makes you feel like a tiny insignificant thing in the universe....
i left the USA , to Peru and for now i don't want to come back
@@claribellmunioz1478 because south america and central america are so awesome.....so many countries have the amazon jungle, the amazon river, the andes mountains, the pacific or atlantic coast....if you like travel, you should see SE asia....i live on a tropical island paradise, where everything is incredible; I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO THE U.S....
@ i feel just attracted by thai beaches, and food, but the oriental culture it's very different of my temperament ( sorry it's something very personal ) the Capital of Peru, Lima have some very European style neighborhoods , Miraflores it's SO nice! clean, modern and you can meet people of all over the world! AND THINK THE SAME OF YOU ~! NEVER GOING BACK TO THE U.S....
I completely understand this. I have had the opportunity to visit the UAE, Kenya, Tanzania, and Peru. The US is so much of a rat race we forget we are all on this planet together. The culture i have experienced over this world has amazed me enough to plan to move out of the US to explore the world. I have been lucky enough to attend nursing mission trips to be able to meet locals and get a true feel for cultures, not just the tourist destinations.
@ i never said " bad" , you made a distortion of my personal opinion , and also made an affirmation without meet me . you're complete wrong!~! i'ts like you searching to pick up a neighborhood to live in any city , and one of the options it's , Chinatown! and i decided another neighborhood , under your statement how i choose another area, I.M A RACIST! come on ,, wake up silly man! ! so idiot!
Watching your trip to Machu Picchu was more than wonderful. I have watched many documentaries about this area, but you two have captured the very essence of the hills. Thank you for taking your fans along! Yes, I would get up at 3:30 to see it as you did! Safe travels for your trip back to the U.S.!
I've had a longing to see Machu Picchu since a young age. I am particularly pleased to see you two experience it and blessed to find it FILLED WITH A BUNCH OF DOPE BACKDOOR INSIGHTS! You guys freak'n ROCK!
Amazing ! You’re right, it’s a once in a lifetime trip so no matter if it’s hard...
I’ve been binge watching your channel all day, and this is one place I’ve ALWAYS wanted to see! Thank you so very much for sharing your journey with all of us! ❤
I hiked to Macau Pichu in the 80s. Our train was the native train to the trailhead rather than the very expensive tourist train.
The experience on the native (poor person) train was amazing .
I am surprised you calked Agua Callienti a city but maybe it is where the tourist train stops. I guess you did not have time to walk through the tunnel to photograph the poverty in the native village less than a mile from the tourist fantasy train.
In any case machine pichu was the most spiritually amazing spot, and the hike the most demanding ever.
Good memories - thank you
Three years ago we got to spend 9 days traveling through Peru and see Machu Picchu and it was incredible! My favorite place in Peru though was Oxapompa and hiking to some amazing waterfalls near Tarma. Was a trip of a lifetime. This was awesome to watch and bring back all those memories! Thank you!
I felt the gratitude for sure. This is one of those times when you feel a connection and have such happiness for another human being. Just because you saw them touched by their experience.. Thank you ✌❤
So many wonderful memories you are gathering as a couple.
Wonderful. You four are a great traveling set with like mindsets. I hope you catch back up with Sara and Luca when you return to Peru.
Peru might be my favorite place that you've been so far.
Exactly what I said!
You are excellent models of respect for the people and communities you visit. Beautiful lessons!! Please keep sharing this beautiful way of being in the world.
We really enjoyed your video, it was exiting to watch and learn about this location in Peru! Great footage of Machu Picchu.
I never in all my 68 years would have thought there was such a beautiful place! Amazing, thanks for sharing!
Allie’s description at the end; perfect.
Agree!!
I am sure you will never forget this adventure to machu pichu. this is once in a lifetime. Happy you had the chance to live it. I can just imagine the feeling (s) visiting this place where people used to live years ago . And the spiritual feeling must of been great too. I am sure the energy there must be special.
This is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Packed full of history & kind people. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Glad you enjoyed my country, I went to Machu picchu this year (I'm 28 yo) and I was like wtf why haven't I came before? I loved it!
It’s totally awesome!!
I bet it felt surreal. It was pretty surreal just watching your video.Even Frank got to have an adventure of his own too! Thank You for taking me there because many of us don't have the means to do what you and Allie do.Machu Pichu must be regarded as a must in Life if 500 people were waiting to go up there that early in the rainy Season ( or so it seems to be)
the indigenous people did all this without the aid of modern methods. They built this by hand and I can only imagine the degree of difficulty involved. The Andes are indeed beautiful and their people too! Just breathtaking scenery! I'm happy this site is protected and still standing.Thank goodness someone never tried to make it commercial as they have more people wanting than it seems they can handle.I hope your Family enjoys their textiles.I would love to have bought some instead of through a catalogue. At least you are helping these people stay self-sufficient which is so rare nowadays.
I was there with my husband last week!!! Its sooo amazing! Did the Salkantay Trek to get there... 5 days and 50 miles!!
Happy you loved it! Aaannnddd that you got in early! It gets so bad mid-day! Good choice!
Thank you for sharing your exciting adventures. I love to see young people enjoying and living life. I can feel your zest for life, your love of critters and how you touch people you meet. Watching you and Frank, with your friends make me incredibly happy 🙏 safe travels ❤️
Soooooo amazing! And then Frank! Thank you sooo much for taking us along.
Yes
Did the same train ride and tour with some of my family and a school group two years ago (except the bridge.. guess our guide thought better than to take a bunch of kids up there). I really enjoyed re-living it with you all! Thanks for sharing.
Great video as always. You guys make it so informative and fun to watch. South America apparently has more to offer than I thought. Thanks so much for sharing your trip. Always watch your videos with eager anticipation and you guys never disappoint. 😊👍
It's has a neatness & solid stone feeling of nature & isolation. I remember when I first seen it. It's was how is it possible ? And it was discovered just a few decade ago everyone just Walk below it.
This was very interesting, so beautiful! You both do such amazing vlogs. You deserve your own travel channel! Thanks for not only this vlog but all of them. You get better & better each time. I'm glad I get to come along with you on all your adventures. I wish you both safe travels & happy holidays!
Thank YOU so much for taking us to Machu Picchu. I always wanted to go and never did. I appreciate you for taking me. Frank is always so excited to see you. So cute. Love you guys!!
For anyone considering hiking to Machu Picchu instead of taking the train & bus, I highly recommend it. The 4-day Inca Trail is absolutely stunning and you learn so much about how the culture and how the trail was built. Be sure to get your permit months in advance... I’m pretty sure I booked mine 6 months before my trip. 👍🏼
Wow! Wow and Wow! Words can not really explain what you both experienced and what a day! You are blessed to do what you are doing and best wishes!
Thank you for sharing this particular trip. Up there as one of the best. You guys look so pleased to have ticked this particular bucket on your bucket list. Safe travels
Ahh yes some nostalgia from when I went thank u
Happy holidays Trent, Allie and Frank. I look forward to continue to follow your journey just like I have this year. One of my favorite things about 2019 has been to be part of your journey. Every other day I look forward to your vlog. You always make my day brighter and I have learned so much from you guys. You are my American Continents teachers. I love you guys. Enjoy time with your family and happy holidays! I look forward to where we go next.
All the best.
We wouldn’t want it any other way!! Thank you Jen Jen
I love this. My experience of Machu Picchu was absolutely amazing! Especially the hike up Huayna Picchu was breath taking.
Thank You both trent and Allie for sharing your travels with us. i enjoy watching all your adventures to South America, they are the most beautiful places even the small villages! once again Thank You and that being said, i am sending you both and Frank Safe Travels, much love and huge hugs out your way. please keep these video's coming our way.
Glad you took us along to these gorgeous ruins!
You two need be on Prime time TV, this channel is excellent! Thank you?!
Thank you that’s very kind of you
I loved seeing this, my favorite episode so far!!!! It took me back to when I visited Machu Picchu, so beautiful there!!!!
Did the Salcantay trail to Machu Picchu and so I know what you guys felt when being there, it's a magical experience, even with tons of tourists it's incredible and one has to wonder how insane it's must have been for the explorers who first set foot into those ruins, not to mention the original inhabitants! You guys are on an epic trip!
Allie you are so up all the time and Trent brings it back to realness. I like how you're up but I love how Trent evens it out and lets us know how it really was.
Wow!! Just WOW!!! I can't imagine what y'all were feeling seeing such wonder! Much love from Nashville!! Darren
Yes yes Magical, spiritual!!! I’m so glad you got there and felt it. ❤️❤️❤️🌞🌞🌞
Wow. There are no words to describe this place. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Thanks! A high point of my young life was a 1964 visit to Machu Pichu while our family lived in Peru. It was not uncrowded even then, but I recall the visit in vivid detail like it was yesterday. I'm really heartened to see Central & South America, and especially Peru, modernizing into the potential it's always had. Also - am I the only person who noticed the cool boots Allie has (and I'm not normally into shoes)?
this was really one of your guys best videos. :) Of course Machu Picchu itself helped, hehe. That sealed off pathway against the mountain is insane!! This was really better than any DOC on cable so thanks Trent and Allie.
I love it how Allie corrects your Spanish Trent! Always makes me laugh. Great video as always, thanks for sharing 👍
One of your very best videos on this epic trip south.
What fabulous pics & info - love Machu Pinto. Thanks Trent & Allie!
What a huge ✅ off your all’s bucket list! This will be one of those days you’ll never forget. What a beautiful place, and to think of what it was like for the people back then...wow! So happy, for you all, that you made it!!🤗 😉😊❤️
I LOVED MACHU PICCHU I got to hike it about a year and a half ago and wow truly amazing. Worth every minute of sleep lost and definitely something you can’t miss if you travel to South America!
u r knocking these productions out of the park you two... thanks so much for sharing ~ S
Thank you for a wonderful day of Machu Picchu. I could never have walked those narrow pathways. You did it for me. Forever grateful.
Thank you guys so much I have hard core altitude sickness so I appreciate your trip to such a beautiful site! I travel through you.
She made me so happy ! What a beautiful soul! You two are such an amazing couple! Twin flames for sure! 🥰 new sub!
Memories to last a lifetime. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Another epic edit!! What a wonderful job! Nice work.
Wow! AMAZING views!!! Thanks for sharing Manchu Picchu & it's history.
Went there last summer, did the 4 day Inca Trail hike and I highly recommend doing the hike. Even though it is 4 days it is not that difficult, only around 10km per day. It also makes the destination even more special when you see Machu Picchu appearing in front of you after a few day hike.
I wish we had time to do it!!!
@@TrentandAllie you will just have to come back!!! I came 5 1/2 years ago and didn't leave! I will always have a room for you guys!
Awesome experience for you guys and for your viewers! My son and his wife have been to Machu Picchu, but I have yet to go. Just wish you could have had the drone circle the place more but thankful for what you did get as I may never get there. Thank you so very much for the work you do and for sharing all of this. 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Magnifico!! So happy for you guys and thanks for taking me on a trip of a lifetime💛👍
What beauty this area brings, breath taking!!! Worth missing yoga for, my God the hiking you did was impressive!!! That narrow trail with no railing.... that gets your attention, instant death??? All those dogs hanging out st the bus station, where they strays? The golden retrievers were good looking!!! You two are PRO TRAVELLERS!!! w.w.
Yeah they were strays
This was a great video. Such a beautiful place. You guys are living a special life. So glad you bring us along.
Absolutely breathtaking, thanks so much for taking us along ❤️
Thanks for filming such an awesome place. Your both such a wonderful couple.
This was amazing, thank you for taking us on this fantastic journey. 🇦🇺🐨👍🏼🧡🌞🧡🧡🧡🧡 Australia
Machu Picchu is Worth it!…
But Trent and Allie are Definitely Invaluable!! ❤️❤️❤️😎
Beautiful planet we share. Merry Christmas to your families and Italian travel buds! ❤🐕Frank too.
I found you two through Leave Everything and Wander, you are also a beautiful couple, I enjoy the quality of video's you make. Thank You.
OH MY GOODNESS! Amazingly gorgeous! Thank you again for sharing your fantastic footage. So beautiful!!
Wow what a great video! If wanted to go to Machu Picchu for years definitely definitely want to go now! Safe travels
I was amazed at the number of people wanting to see Machu Picchu! You were smart to get there early #TA
My Dad, who passed away in May from Alzheimers disease, should be whispering in my ear, "Awe, did that bring snot to your nose?" 😂 You guys really touched my heart with this one. Thank you ❤️
I knew I wanted to go but I forgot about it. You opened my eyes to this beauty and convinced me.
Now, I have to convince my daughter to come along!! Beautiful video.
Thank you for sharing your adventures. Diane xx
What an amazing experience! Trent was grinning from ear to ear on arrival. How can anyone top such a fantastic bucket list video? Thanks for sharing!
Looks amazing guys! Trent is in his element! Take care 💙
Awww Frank is always ready to love you
My daughter will be going next year after graduation with her honors Spanish class!!!
I am worried and excited for her at the same time😳
I do know it will be an awesome experience for her!!!!!
She will have so much fun!!!
So glad you had great weather for Machu Picchu. We did 2 days in July. So glad we did, because it rained the first day. Still was incredible, but lucky we were able to go back and hike Inca Bridge trail with nice weather. What a magic place to experience.
Congratulations for getting there. Thanks much for your content. You are teaching us all that we can do what are dreams are asking of us! 💪😁💯
Yet another place I’m putting on my bucket list to go personally. But in the meantime I enjoyed my trip with you guys. 😎
What a nice place those stone masons were the bees knees back then 👍👍👍
Amazing place! It should be on everybody's bucket list.
Went in 1995 via Inca Trail, things have changed a lot since then, I actually got to hike the trail to the top of Wuana Picchu.
I went via the Inca Trail in 2001. Day two nearly wiped me out but I made it to Machu Picchu in time to see the sun rise over the Sun Gate. One of the best trips I ever did.
