"Royal Navy Sea King is better equipped to operate in bad weather", is such an understatement. The crews are just amazing holding the aircraft steady in gusting winds.
I remember it well. I used some of the timber off the beach to build a horse shelter and the rest is still in my wood store. The woodworm still haven't bored into it yet because of the salt flavour.
After a ship in distress requests assistance, a salvage situation arises and the Salvage Convention applies. In this instance, the parties have agreed the salvage terms are to be the LOF (Lloyds Open Form) with SCOPIC (P&I) terms annexed. After the successful operation, the vessel and its cargo remain the property of their owners. Even though LOF & SCOPIC have been agreed, the salvage award is NOT a contractually agreed amount but a percentage of the value of ship and cargo. The percentage (always less than 100%) is then set by an arbitrator or by a maritime court. In this case, the timber on the beach (if recoverable) still belongs to the cargo owner, but may be treated as assets for the salvage award arithmetic.
Luckily the ship wasn't too long so it was less prone to breaking up. Safety was their first priority, the salvage operation was second. I like the way they got power back into the bridge.
This was the Cornish coastline...the age-old haunt of smugglers. Thousands of planks of wood fell into the sea....the Cornish pricked up their ears, their eyes narrowed knowingly.....slowly they drew their plans............the planks were never seen again.
Hope this narrator never goes to Plymouth or Cornwall as the Cornish will be upset as Plymouth is in Devon and the Plymouthains will be upset as they are not Cornish.
I believe that. for every one hour of flying in a Sea King requires 75 hours of maintenance. In Canada they would not rreplace the sea Kings they were in bad condition and the Prime Minister Gretchen and the minister of defense would not fly in them after saying there's nothing wrong with them LOL.
The deck load shifted due to insufficient lashings and once she started to list the holds started to flood and increase the list and the hatches were probably carried away.
"Kodima’s timber deck cargo shifted as a result of her wire lashings being insufficiently tight to hold the cargo in its stowed position when the ship was transiting heavy seas."
Great programme but the music is too loud especially when the commentator is talking. I don't know why we need loud music all the time it's not making the show any more exciting in fact it's shit who are these people
Listing and grounding of vessel is only due to incompetent chief Mate and Loading Master and not due to Engine or steering gear failure. The ship owners and master of ship rest all faults to Engine department to claim insurance and thus fools PnI club and insurance companies

The wood probably went into many sheds and heating stoves.

fascinating and dull all in one :)

But for a week heavily loaded carts pulled by four horses were heard passing Jamaica Inn during the dark hours of the night.
She was lucky enough, she landed on sand, not on reef...no holes on the hull

Great video..Great story..Great men!!
Well done everyone , good to see it saved and not scrapped.
It was scrapped.
@@joebrunette5594 That’s terrible news. It takes much less energy to restore than build new! Sorry to hear it was scrapped.☹️
@@nickybritain4900 not always true! also you can be sure everything usable was refurbished and all the steel recycled
there was no shortage of decking and sheds for some time in the area :)
The generator may have taxed the lifting capacity of the helicopter, but that didn't stop them carrying a passenger.
Great job. Thanks for your video.
Very good work.
The stuttering frames make my head hurt. Good program through. Enjoy these little docs
it is a 3:2 pulldown done badly sadly.
Beautiful job boys again still looked a bit pissed in the water but great job! 👍
So many of these salvage operations I've watched by several salvage companies, it looks like they are all sponsored by tobacco companies.
Europeans all smoke.
Amazing workers they are brilliant
Cigarette smoking is the least danger in their jobs!

As the shipowners saved 5000 on maintenance it costs 500.000 to salvage the ship. But nevertheless it must be a nice job to work for wijsmuller
Good job guys.. I know if I live there I be scrounging a lot of that Lumber😉😉

Wurde die Modima wieder flott gemacht! Leer gepumpt und repariert? Was war geschehen, dass sie zur Seite kippte? War die Fracht verrutscht? Lg.ff.
please show the floating wood inside the boat one more time.
How much money did that cost?
I was going to pull them shits outa there with my jon boat for $200 but then this group of guys showed up and took the job from me.
Great Story and Great Story is a Happy Story.
How come the salvors don't wear hardhats/climbinging helmets?
Cause if you fall into ocean will plummet like a torrpedo to sea bed unsafe
why were the lids open

It seems that the vessel is scarcely maintained...
Very interesting
Looks like smoking is mandatory for salvage crews... I wonder how safe that is?
Nicotine dependent working conditions?

Unbelievable to watch men working on a deck at a 20-degree angle covered with oil without a life vest on. Where is management?
