Sportsters are a lot more fun when you add a tuner, exhaust, and a better breather (air filter) !!! This will wake up the engine and deliver more in the cruiser mode !!! 😎
i have a 2019 iron 1200, i recommend getting the Vance & Hines Big Radius 2 into 2 pipes, they sound fucking amazing bro. Along with the Arlen ness big sucker air intake.
If you have the 883 just upgrade the engine and not trade in for the engine. It is cheaper to do so, and if you get the right kits more powerful as well
@@RabidHedgehog oh no, I would upgrade the engine for sure, not trading in the bike. I find 883 is plenty fun enough as it is with 1200 it will be great.
One thing for sure, IMO, is that the Harley Sportster is the closet one can come to having a genuine vintage motorcycle that is brand-new. Yes, it has been improved upon over the years in small but noticible ways, yet it can never be confused as anything other than a Harley Sportster. Hell, if you took a 2018 Sportster back in time, one would be hard pressed to notice at first glance the difference between a Sportster of that era to one now. just saying ;-) *I am a satisfied owner of a 2015 Harley Super Low 1200 T
I have a heart for the Sporty no matter what and still think fondly of them. I would love to build one into something mad max like. But that will be in time. :)
I had an 06 Sportster 1200 Custom with an air cleaner and slip on exhaust. It was carbureted and I got 55 on the highway @ 70 M.P.H. Everything I didn't like about it they corrected on this model. I would love to have one. Only thing I don't care for is the orange graphics on that blue paint. Same with the black. The red offered on the 19 model and the silver on the 2020 model look a lot better to me. I put 600 miles on in one day several times. Not as comfortable as my Heritage, but it can be done. A good seat makes a world of difference.
Going to my local HD dealership in 2 weeks to probably buy an Iron 1200. I say probably only because I don't know what exactly they have in stock or the numbers yet.
just watched your video, I had no interest in a sportster, I ride an 18 Ultra Classic but while visiting the local HD dealer today, im more interested in the sporty, my wife just bought the 2020 iron 1200 in the same billiard blue as your riding, thanks for your review...
I have a 2019 in twisted cherry. The only thing I'd add would be a 6th gear, and better suspension. It's an AMAZING around the town bike for a solo rider. Tons of fun! Alas, I will take advantage of Harleys freedom promise in a few months and get a new softail.
Sounds like the ride was horrible. How does it compare ride wise to the Guzzi V9? I've rode the v9 and it rode pretty good the short time I was on it very smooth, mind the engine vibe. V7 motor was smoother than v9. Ride was good for both though. I like sportsers look and sound but just dont want a bike that's gonna beat the crap out of me.
V9s and V7s are far more comfortable than Sportsters. The V7 produces about as much as the 883 in power and such but the engine runs much smoother the ride is much more compliant. V9s don't actually make much more power, but their chassis and suspension also wins. You can also turn without touching a peg down so quickly as well on the V9s.
Rabid Hedgehog I’m new to riding. I’m enrolled in a safety course for next month, however I want a sportster so bad. But I can’t decide between iron 883 or 1200. I’m just trying to avoid any buyers remourse
John G I came from a 600 sport bike. I would get a 1200 or bigger personally. My 1200 has plenty of grunt. I’ve also heard that the 883 has gearing to match the 1200 output but it’ll be shorter gears. Which is why I went with a 1200 in case I was going to do longer rides it wouldn’t be higher in the rpm when cruising
KillerrKen just an update, I ended up going with the iron 883. While I love the look, it does produce a decent amount of power (for a new rider). I do plan on adding a 1200cc kit to it. Lots of plans coming up with my bike :)
Never understood why people waste money trying to make these bikes "fast". Always makes me laugh listening to Harley guys talk. Just ride it like it came from factory and put the money into the looks. A H.D. will never be fast. Even after you sink 6k in the motor
Jerk Ass uhhhhhh the 114ci with exhaust and intake will do 0-60 in 3.2 seconds.. and you can stand to actually ride it for awhile, unlike the rice rides. Those ricer bikes remind me of the puerto ricans who drive around in turbo honda civics LOL.. because it’s fast, but has nothing else to offer.. btw you mock trying to make harleys fast yet you have a vid showing your lincoln ls with an exhaust... LOL my tahoe is faster then your car!
@@doylee469 im a 22 year old Hispanic guy and i fucking agree with you about the puerto rican part lololol. i couldnt see myself on a rice bike the styling is just so bland. so i bought a harley iron 1200 as my first bike and i put a stage 2 cams on it and its pretty fuckin quick now. keeps up with rice bikes until i pass 80 mph when the bad aerodynamics starts to kick in lolol. ride safe man your bike is nice as hell.
man why yall sportbike people think yall are the only ones that can go fast lololol you sleep on harley. ive seen some damn tuned up baggers gap rice rockets.
Randy Lahey I appreciate it bud. Ride safe my man! The iron 1200 is a nice ass ride too. Classic iron beauty with the 1200 motor.. it’s about time hd made that a package.

Indeed, now if we can convince Harley that is how they should come from the assembly line.
Sounds like something I ll try. Adding a cotton air filter will definitely help
I’m actually in the process of buying a 2020 iron 1200 now haha
Ride it safe and enjoy!

My Iron 1200 with a stage 1 gets roughly 42-45 mpg in city. It is just at 50 going 70 mph avg on the highway.
I got a stock iron 883 and I am lucky enough to get 42 MPG in city. I do most of my rides in the city so maybe that is the reason it's so low.
That is. My Iron was a thirsty idler, but if I had her out on highways and constant speeds she sipped fuel.
I got my iron 883 and I love it. It's a cool bike to ride. Maybe I will upgrade it to 1200 later on.

@@RabidHedgehog I would, but my wife wants to ride 2-up and the sporty isn't really comfortable for her to be on the back.
Awesome video thanks! Would this bike be comfortable for me being 5’11”? Thanks!
I’m 6’2” and 320 and I ride one fine. Only thing I did was forward controls and a mustang wide solo seat. Made the world of difference
Love my sporty 😊
Not a fan of the seating position, but it seemed like it'd work okay if you want to stand up on it.
It can be done. Need to anyways as the suspension wears on you.

Just bought the 2020 Iron 1200. Great motorcycle. It’s a street style bike, not a cruiser. Great review brother.
Thank you and ride safe!
To sum it up, the one and only reason to buy this bike: it's a Harley.
Kind of sort of, or the pure motorcycle experience without all the techno doo dads of today... Well crap, I guess that means it's a Harley...
thats why i bought one lol my first bike i fucking love it
13" shocks would mend the ride quality.
Would you guys recommend the iron 1200 as a first bike?
I would not have any issue with doing so. My first bike was a Sporty.

John G good deal. The only thing that matters is what you love what you ride. Congrats
Literally rode that bike today at the demo event today 😅
Wonder if it was the same bike. Did the Low Rider S offered have a nasty dent in the right side of the tank?
@@RabidHedgehog nope but someone did tip over the street glide at my event 😂
