I'm not normally prone to impulse buys but after watching this morning I whizzed off to my local stockist and bought one. Once home I had it up and running in 15 minutes including finding a suitably covert hiding place for the device. Left the key fob at home and took a quick spin round the block to test it and when I returned my phone had a missed call to tell me my bike had been moved and 4 messages to give me up to date GPS locations. I'm very impressed so thanks very much for the helpful review! Childs play to install and very cost effective compared to other solutions.
I can understand why you wouldn't do negative review, like opening pandora's box... but you should really do those too... i think you are a very balanced guy, so your review would be spot on... just saying that...
Another nice review! BUT I don't see an issue of showing the device as you can see it on the Monimoto web site. An issue is that I have heard of is a number of reports of the police not being interested when someone knows where their bike is, yet the location is provided by the owner vs a tracking company. Not a device issue per se, but it would be interesting to know how the police would respond to an owner with one of these (or similar) who has pinpointed their bike to a location that does not have public access eg garages. Maybe a subject for a future video, perhaps an interview with a representative from the local police? Having said that, for the price and what it could offer, it's another layer of security which I think has to be worth it! It just annoys me that we have to think about multiple forms/levels of security! A useful scenario..you are touring...would I like to get an alert if I'm at a hotel and my bike is being moved? I guess I would..ditto parked in town while shopping, at a venue with your bike parked outside....which for that reason, this would be very useful and for that reason, I'll probably buy one!
I found my stolen bike within 28 minutes from the device phoning me. Can't recommend this enough. They burst my steering lock and hid the bike in a nearby lockup. With help from the police and the fire service I got my bike back :) Great piece of kit.
I bought one of these back in August as I was about to start riding to London for work. I've had some issues with it to be honest, when I stayed in an AirBnB that had an underground car park, the app constantly told me that the tracker couldn't communicate with it and when I went back home that weekend, I had to actually fully reset the device in order to get it working again, which meant removing it from the bike. I did also have a couple of false positives in London, where the tracker alerted me to the bike being stolen, but in fact it never moved from it's parking spot and I knew this, because I could see it looking out of the window of my office. I think this was down to a bunch of kids leaving the school opposite my office and making tonnes of noise, but it could also be because it was located somewhere on the bike 'loosely' at the time, so the unit may have slipped and moved just enough to detect 'tampering' and triggered an alarm. Over the last few weeks, the unit hasn't contacted me at all and I'm starting to get concerned that the battery might be dead, or the app isn't synced up anymore or something. Not a huge concern for me with the bike being in the garage at the moment and a bunch of CCTV covering it and someone is always home, I always know where the bike is anyway right now, but I'm concerned it isn't as reliable as it should be... This all being said, I moved the bike from the driveway to the garage the other day and forgot to take the fob with me, the tracker called my phone and began sending push notifications to the app, so it is still working! I would definitely buy one again, despite the flaws, as when it's out in the open (Which it would be when parked up away from home most of the time and certainly would be if it was being ridden) it works perfectly and I quite often find the 'daily report' tells me where I was in the country at the time it triggered the report, which is reassuring that the GPS is working, even on the daily report, not just when the bike is 'stolen'. I like the fact I can fit it where I like, I love the subscription cost and at £150 to purchase, even if it's not 100% reliable, it's reliable enough to give me peace of mind that should my bike be stolen, I probably will get a notification and there's a good chance I will get some idea of where the bike is, when it's been moved, so long as they don't put it in an underground garage, or a van or something (Which quite a lot of thieves would, but I imagine all GPS trackers suffer from this the same way). Compared to the most expensive and full featured trackers out there, I don't rate it, but compared to other battery operated trackers with minimal to no subscription (You don't have to pay for their Sim Card Subscription, you can put your own sim in there if you choose), it's top notch!
Just ordered mine this morning after a neighbours ‘wired in’ tracker was rendered useless when the thieves disconnected the battery on his KTM when they stole it. Thanks for another really useful review, bought this product entirely on your recommendation.
If you have declared any security devices on your insurance policy make sure you use them. That includes the manufactures fitted equipment the steering lock. Always take your time and read the small print as well.
There was a thread on pistonheads recently about someone who had their triumph stolen, checked the tracker, knew exactly where it was but the police weren’t interested. Even with the tracking company phoning the police as far as I know it still hasn’t been sorted out. On the review note top stuff as always sir!
My Bike was stolen about 3 weeks ago and I wish I had a tracker. The experience is painful and following up on Insurance Claim is another Job. Once Beaten, Twice shy.
Joseph Mutuku damn bro :( I’m sorry to hear that.. yah I’m trying to save up and buy a new one myself. I used to drink a lot and I quit ... riding my motorcycle helped me stay sober... now I feel so depressed:,(
I fitted a MoniMoto a month ago, good job too. Last week a couple of scrotes nicked my bike. I got an alert at 8:10, by 8:30 the bike was back in my possession. Probably shouldn't have gone racing after it but by the time I found it, there was no-one about. Excellent device and really easy to use.
Sorry I have to agree. I also did a search on youtube to see it. Some Italian bloke was fitting it to his bike. My Italian is non existant. I would have preferred to see you fit it to your Ducati. Then if you let me know your location, date of birth, place of birth and mother's maiden name I would be a very happy man.
yep agree... especially when you get it for free, and when it's dedicated for a review...I would think... Anyway well done, but a bit of a dissapointing review... Guess I have to search for those other reviews.
Great review I watched RJ’s review of this and couldn’t be less interested in it but now you explained it in an almost power point presentation style way I’m genuinely sold on the idea of the product thank god for TMF!!
Thanks for this review, TMF. About time there was some disruption in the tracker market. As you say, the typical £400 plus £99 per year model is very expensive and this alternative seems good value.
I’ve bought one of these and I’m now prepared to leave my bike unattended if I wander off for a coffee. Really great solution that adds another layer of security and peace of mind. Made me chuckle the other day when I started the bike out front of the house then when back in to pick something up, key fob in pocket. Next thing Monimoto is calling me as I’ve obviously separated from the bike and here’s me thinking someone’s trying to nick it. Reassuring. And it reports in every day even when locked away. Sensible security for sensible price 👍
Excellent - just what I'm looking for. I have a chum that owns a bike shop and one day when I was there I had a conversation with a rep of one of those more expensive trackers. He wouldn't or couldn't understand (ok, he's a rep, I get that and so has a vested interest) that it was the cost that put people off. I don't want to pay £100 a year for a call centre I am likely to never want to use - I can ring the Police myself. This is exactly the solution that's needed. Nice one squire and pleased that you might do more reviews of things that are variations on stuff you already use.
Thanks TMF - based on this I will be buying at the NEC this month. I had an expensive tracker on my last bike and due to the cost didn't put one on my current bike. Having seen this, I will be now! Keep up the good work!
I have one fitted to one of my bikes. So easy to fit and use. Cheap as chips to own and run. Fully sell-contained so no expensive dealer installs. For £145 and just £3 a month you really can't go wrong.
Nice review! I had someone admiring my bike in the back garden last weekend at 1am, who promptly left empty handed when I ran downstairs to more forcefully ask them to leave. This looks like a really useful addition though.
TheMissendenFlyer I’m also thankful for your great XSR700 review, I will be getting one once I pass my Mod2 (touch wood) this coming week. Great channel, lots of useful info.
just ordered one after seeing this. Where I live in Devon there is zero chance of bike theft generally but I do worry a bit when touring so ideal cost wise for those circumstances.
I'm not normally one for buying stuff I just saw on TH-cam but after getting my last bike stolen I immediately bought one of these for my new bike after seeing it here.
Interesting, cheers. More impressive is that you have managed to still upload vids on scheduled days whilst on your moto travels around western Scotland, top marks for consistency 👍🏍
@@TheMissendenFlyer do a test!! We want to see it under the trees, in a garage, how it tracks when it’s moving. Ect!! Maybe the difference how it tracks mounting it under the seat vs deep in the bike. It’s a tracker! We want to see it track. Have a mate steal it 3 times and actually hide it. See if you can recover it realistically.
I heard of a couple of thefts where the police wouldn't investigate because the bikes where tracked by the owners to scrap yards on private land!! Think they needed more evidence.
I read criticism online reporting that in some cases the authorities didn't do anything! They came up with terrible excuses and the owner did not get his bike back. It would be useful if TMF enquired about this.
Also just to add any tracker will not stop professional thieves as they use jammers the present mobile signals. These are all the pros and cons to consider also you have to be very careful with placement as it can become easy to see where mounted if not done properly
Bought one after seeing RJ's vlog and got a 20% discount as they were doing a promo at the time. Excellent bit of kit. I've worked with clients on monitoring systems in the past (writing the control centre, database, configuration software and customer web front ends) so have experience of this tech since 2005. Works a treat.
Perhaps you could tell me if it can be used by people who don't own a smartphone or what happens if the phone it was paired with gets broken ? Can you receive plain old SMS messages or pair it with a PC ?
Flyer, I enjoy your reviews, some of witch I've spent money on and do agree with your findings. I'd love the same view point on the flip side of the coin. Help us to not wast money's on inferior products. I'd like to thank you for all your efforts, keep them coming and ride safe.
Thanks TMF for an interesting review and as others have said, it's perhaps a minimum layer of armoury that we should all consider for our bikes. As you hint however, the more sophisticated approach is a 24/7 monitoring system that will automatically track your bike over a wide area (remember your precious machine may soon be in a Calais dock!) and begin a recovery operation having notified the relevant police who have the power to search and arrest etc. The Rolls Royce of such a system still remains in my view 'Tracker' given that it has a complete tracking monopoly with UK police forces and uses VHF rather than UHF to better leak through closed Transit vans, lockups and shipping containers that other systems may not accomplish. Tracker also uses its own network of receiving towers augmented by a mesh system (where your stolen bike can be identified and relay-positioned by another Tracker user) to augment coverage and usefully has links with partner European countries. The question with regard to device and fitting (around £550) and annual subscription (around £180) costs I suppose is how much of the bike's value should you spend on initial and on-going security? I don't have any connection with this company incidentally but if you've paid say £15K+ for a new bike, forking out an initial payment of around 3% doesn't seem unreasonable for a system the police use. Horses for courses.
BTW, I just checked with Monimoto and they are available in the states as a 3G unit. (Since London isn't the only city thieves will nick your beloved motorcycle or scooter)
I hear you I have 2 independent trackers on my wr250r, yamaha actually gave me one as part of the bike, plus one that costs me 60 dollars a year works world wide and it's about the size of a small match box
Why would you not show what the unit looks like? It’s not like you can’t very easily look online and see. If your going to actually do a review I am sure many people interested would like to know what kind of real estate it would consume to determine all the available installation options you may have
Just wanted to say I have bought a Monimoto not just on your review but never heard of anything bad so since I’m in the process of putting up a new shed so want just that little more security so just want thanks for your help in making my mind up Gav 👍
I bought one of the cheap trackers off eBay for under £15 just to have a play with it. I put in a PAYG SIM card and it does exactly what the Monimoto does. However, it's not as simple to set up, you need to enter several commands and the instructions are less than perfect. But, if you can manage it then once set up and given you mobile number they work really well texting you if the bike moves and then where it is. What Monimoto and other companies do is take away the pain of setup if you haven't got the time or simply can't be bothered to work it out and for that it's got to be worth a go.
I use a TK Star 905 tracker, no subscription and costs virtually nothing to run once you set it to data mode. Couldn't recommend it more highly. Only £35 and the built-in battery lasts about 2 months.
Great review but I think you should mention the features this tracker doesn’t have over the more premium trackers, such as recording your riding route and rf transmitter if it gets stuffed in a lockup/shipping container.
The one thing that has put me off fitting a tracker is the initial purchase and fitting cost and the high monthly subscriptions. This does seem a more reasonable set up and £2-3 a month is not too bad
Thanks for the insight. Looks a great bit of kit. Easy home install and reasonable yearly cost. I guess you don't have to use it just on a bike either. You could use it on your car, boat or anything you want to track. Do insurance companies recognise it yet and offer a discount? That would help offset those annual sim card costs.
Correct you could indeed - and that depends on your insurance company, I’ve never had a reduction due trackers fitted :0( ...worth asking the question though...
Just spoke to them and you can use any sim you like, it will use less than 10mb of data a month, so I may buy this and use a pay as you go sim like the 1pMobile sim, then it will be as good as free monthly cost, maybe worth mentioning for someone on an even lower budget.
Another great review TMF, thank you. I can see why you like this device, it sounds ideal for most bikes, where the owner can’t justify the expense of a full tracking system, but wants the reassurance of knowing some tea leaf isn’t hooning around on their bike. I will definitely be looking into getting one of these.
Thats an interesting thing. Thanks for showing it. Thankfully over here in the Netherlands (at least where I live) bike crime is non-existent. If I was living in the UK, I'd definitely get one.
€159 over here. We also have motorcycle theft but not in the same degree as in the UK. It happens mostly in the big cities in the west and they prefer older bikes. Nice device.
Looks to be an excellent piece of kit, low-cost and discrete. Joyriding bike theft in Edinburgh is extremely high, so worth a closer look. Thanks for making me aware as hadn't seen it before.
Excellent as always and a very important issue. I’ve been looking at trackers in the last few weeks so will definitely give this a once-over before deciding. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!
For example, I live in a coach house and if someone quietly broke into my garage and they were a professional thief, if the device detects the fob, the thief could be poking around for quite some time and could find the device, remove it and take the bike. Whereas without the Fob, as soon as the bike has been touched, youd more likely catch them in the act?
Hey thanks Mr Flyer,,This product seems just right for me,,, I work in London,,and keep my bike only at work (they are not too happy, but understand) At the moment I am too afraid to leave outside my flat, one night is ok ish ! after that I WILL lose it,,(no question) So I do not use ,,it stays in Lincolnshire in my garage which is a bummer!! I used it last winter when my car was off the road, and the scroats where tucked up in bed cos it was too cold, but now the warm weather is here and they are out in force..Can I just say,, regarding your reviews... You are so right to keep your sponsored products separate from other gear,, I understand you have to turn a coin,, but you could destroy your channel very easy,, with just one selling opportunity... regards
Thanks for the comment lipsee - I’ve never been paid for a review, nor would I do a paid for review....same reason I turn down invites to bike launches etc, would entirely take away my impartiality in my view! Thanks for watching - TMF
Good idea , only down side is the Bluetooth would probably be attended to the keys , if someone stole the keys . Is it possible to call the device up to report back the location ?
I wish I had purchased one of these. I had my new BMW GS stolen in London last week. It's basically been a complete nightmare. The police were useless and closed the file within 3 days while I'm still waiting to hear from the insurer .. An expensive tracker is a bargain if it means not losing your bike!!
I've not used a tracker for a while as the Biketrac I had fitted was forever sending false alerts, giving incorrect position information for the trip logger or when riding wales it would go completely dark. However I'm prepared to give this Monimoto effort a go.
Good vlog 👍. As you say, part of the armoury in protecting your bike. Primary is a really good visual chain and alarmed disk lock. Secured garage, etc, etc. However, I'm sure their sales will now increase! Small point, €36 is around £31.50 at the current rate of 1.14 not £25.
I had a quote for insurance for my Kawasaki Z800 Sugomi with and without a tracker £15.00 difference ill just stick with disc lock and chain but nice video mate
It might stop casual theft by some oik but these trackers don't work once the professional thief gets them in a shipping container (or any metal box). Better than nothing though and a reasonable price.
Very good reveiw! Simple to understand presentation. I totally agree about preventing theft of motorcycles BUT..... Are trackers devisive means of more monitoring?? SURELY the whole idea of going for a ride is to be free and get away from stresses of the ever increasing modern world. If you have to leave your bike somewhere lock it to something solid.???
These type of devices can certainly be helpful. But they can also be electronically subverted with gps spoofing and stringray sdr radios etc (also alarmingly cheap and generally illegal to use ;-) Just saying that trackers have additional vulnerabilities that aren't often mentioned...
Could you do a review on a tracker for someone like myself who owns a bike that cost under a thousand please. You know those who are on a budget like me who is out of work.
I'm extremely impressed by the guys at Automatrics MTrack. I don't work for them or even use their service, because I'm not in the UK, but I've watched some of their stolen bike recovery videos here on youtube, and I'm really impressed, as I say, with their service. It seems they go the extra mile (literally). Their units have GPS as well as RF, so if someone steals your bike and puts it in a truck or a basement or building where there is no GPS, it can be found. They get the general area from cell site triangulation, then go their with their RF signal detector, and can find the exact location no matter where it is. And the second amazing thing about their service is that they actually go out there and liaise with Police and attend the location, and actively track your bike to recover it, in the unfortunate event that it is stolen. This is way better than tracking services that are available in my country. Where I live, I have a couple of GPS tracking service options, but all they do is sell you the device and the website login service, so if you bike gets stolen, you can log in yourself and track it by GPS, but they won't go out and recover the bike for your, nor will they contact police etc to help you out. Also, they don't have RF, so if the bike is thrown in a truck with metal roof and sides, then transported and kept in the truck for a period of time, or in a garage or basement, you won't be able to precisely track your bike. So a big thumbs up from me to Automatrics MTrack for what seems to be a fantastic service for a pretty reasonable price. I understand your security concerns, TMF, but if there's a tracking service that do a great job and you're happy with them, wouldn't it be helpful to others to give them props for their great service? How does that negatively affect your security? How would having that info benefit a bike thief? They already know your bikes are tracked, so if they're at all sophisticated, they're already aware to look for a tracker hidden on the bike. How would knowing the company offering the tracking service assist the thief or reduce your security in any manner? Just curious, because I couldn't figure out the logic behind that comment. Cheers! Oh, by the way, I looked into this Monimoto device/service when RJ did his little sponsored bit on them, but again, as I'm not in the UK, the service isn't available to me, unfortunately, as it looks like a great little solution. I investigated options like using a cheap android phone with gps tracking wired up to a hidden location on the bike, but I ran into a few issues with getting it to power on every time the bike powers on. It's possible, but the cheap android phone I got is too cheap, and doesn't have enough memory to install extra apps.... Long story short, a dedicated solution like the Monimoto would be great, but it would be better if it was truly international/global, so all you have to do is provide your own local prepaid data and text sim card in whatever country you live in to use it.
Super. A detailed reply indeed. Well done to highlight RF additional location layer, professional 24/7 monitoring, finding and recovery service. Automatrics MTrack will have new kit coming up from us next year, so maybe we should send to TMF to review ? He can fit it use it and hide it (even outside of GPS view) then we can pick him and go find the bike !
Seems like a great little product, luckily bike theft isn't nearly as prevalent where I live, but they should look at creating a version that works in North America.
Well it arrived next day (great service) and was dead easy to to set up and install. Test run showed it works fine sending GPS coordinates and map of the bike's location to my phone but no false alarms when the fob was present. It is a bit sensitive I think as I set an alarm just fiddling in the garage without the fob present, but there is an option to reduce the sensitivity and of course just have the fob with you when doing anything to the bike. Just need to see how it works long term now - and hope I never need it in anger!
Sounds pretty good. Had a quick check on eBay UK and M&P have got them for £142.99. They also have a pay over 12 months deal, £12.72p. Even a tight old git like me can afford one. A few years back now, my boss had his chained up CBR600 taken off his driveway in broad daylight, while his neighbours looked on! Two guys physically picked up the bike, loaded it into a van and drove off. The crooks were so casual about the whole process the neighbours assumed they must be legit. It was never seen again. Obviously, no tracker.
By saying bluetooth range between the device and key sounds a bit ambiguous tbh. In the Delboys Garage video he claims he checked with Monimoto and they say its 100 meters. I was thinking of putting one on my track bike but it would be away from the circuit before I could react on this basis.
I followed your advice regarding the cleaning products and bought 3 of them. The leather cleaner, the dry chain lube and the brake dust repellent........I must say I'm really impressed with ALL 3 items!! So my question is to you TMF is it worth lashing out on the Monimoto? (I know you rate it otherwise you wouldn't review it) My concern is hiding the tracker as under the seat or the pillion seat seems a little obvious or I'm I missing the point?? Whereas, when the more expensive tracker chips are fitted it's always unknown location apart from the professional installer who fitted it. Or is this more for peace of mind??
What happens if you have parked your bike away from the Bluetooth signal (like an underground carpark, shopping centre) would it still alert you? Great review as usual 👍
Hi Andy. Are you still using the Monimoto and, if yes, could you do (or just reply to me with) an update on your experience with it? It would be really useful to know if you still rate it as highly as your initial review, and if there have been any issues with it. Many thanks, in advance.
Toughest thing I ran into was where to place the main unit. My 06 Ural Tourist is all metal. I thought to put it into the lockable trunk, but the unit signal doesn't do well inside a metal enclosure so I had to get creative and sneaky in securing it onto the frame and out of sight.
Is that Lithium cell replaceable? If not, and it lasts approx. 2 years, it is effectively adding £75.00 per year on your insurance, and in my experience Insurance companies do not really offer a premium discount for having a tracker. I am seemingly acquiring more gadgetry that is ready for landfill when the internal lithium cells die, I hope this is different?
Very affordable. I think my bike is too old to have any appeal for stealing though. If I get something newer /more shiney I would definitely consider this.
I'm not normally prone to impulse buys but after watching this morning I whizzed off to my local stockist and bought one. Yes a bit more John Cadogan - Auto Expert.
Its a pain in the arse to link up to the phone via bluetooth as Im finding at this very moment.

Well I filmed this some weeks back before I'd seen those other videos, I can't be held responsible for what they show!
Exactly. "i wont show it for obvious reasons". I'm hoping you are not in the security business!
yep agree... especially when you get it for free, and when it's dedicated for a review...I would think...
Another good point over the traditional tracker is it can be moved to a different bike easily. So you can keep the tracker if you sell your bike.
Very true! Wish I’d thought of that....
Looks a good product. Mate of a mate has had 2 bikes stolen, no longer rides. Maybe manufactures should foot the bill for these products.
Thanks for this review, TMF. About time there was some disruption in the tracker market. As you say, the typical £400 plus £99 per year model is very expensive and this alternative seems good value.
I'm very pleased with mine...
With my x ray vision it looks like a dream piece of tech 👍🏻
Nice one :0)
Go see RJ's review of the same device if you want to see it
The app works on Android phones as well 😉
will M lol
I’ve bought one of these and I’m now prepared to leave my bike unattended if I wander off for a coffee. Really great solution that adds another layer of security and peace of mind. Made me chuckle the other day when I started the bike out front of the house then when back in to pick something up, key fob in pocket. Next thing Monimoto is calling me as I’ve obviously separated from the bike and here’s me thinking someone’s trying to nick it. Reassuring. And it reports in every day even when locked away. Sensible security for sensible price 👍
Yes - like anything it's not fool proof but I don't think you can beat the functionality for the money!
Yeah I entirely agree - that £100 sub is a turn off for something you actually try to avoid using!
Thanks TMF - based on this I will be buying at the NEC this month. I had an expensive tracker on my last bike and due to the cost didn't put one on my current bike. Having seen this, I will be now! Keep up the good work!
If you buy via my link below you’ll be helping me out too! Cheers - TMF
Very nice no need hide device they show on their web site I going to get one of these later this year, thank you TMF
I was looking into getting this tracker myself, I’m glad to see yourself and RJ reviewing it, I’m glad you both think it’s as good as it looked.
Yes I filmed this before RJ posted his review, glad he thought it was good too...
TheMissendenFlyer
I’m also thankful for your great XSR700 review, I will be getting one once I pass my Mod2 (touch wood) this coming week. Great channel, lots of useful info.
just ordered one after seeing this. Where I live in Devon there is zero chance of bike theft generally but I do worry a bit when touring so ideal cost wise for those circumstances.
You recommended the bee line, I bought one, now the tracker, I ordered one. Thanks again. ❤️❤️👍👍😷
Hope you like it!
I'm not normally one for buying stuff I just saw on TH-cam but after getting my last bike stolen I immediately bought one of these for my new bike after seeing it here.
Good stuff!
Did you ever find your stolen bike? Mine got stolen a few days ago.
Great review again Mr TMF. Your time and dedication is greatly appreciated. Cheers Wedi
It is definitely better then the factory fitted honda one I have which is a pain and keeps draining my battery 👍💯
Interesting, cheers.
More impressive is that you have managed to still upload vids on scheduled days whilst on your moto travels around western Scotland, top marks for consistency 👍🏍
Glad you noticed Steve!
Not a word of how accurate the tracking is!! That’s kinda important being a tracker and all😜
Well it used GPS so accurate to a few feet...
Question tho . If You ring the police and tell them your bikes been stolen and can prove location . Will the police actually do anything?
Dunno....
No, they won't do anything. Ignore the paid shill. Unless you're prepared to go heavy handed to the place your bike is at, then it's useless.
Looks like a great product TMF. All the better that it has your stamp of approval. Thank you sir!
I have purchased one. Works a treat. I move it between bikes if i am going to anywhere dodgy. A great review again TMF.
Also just to add any tracker will not stop professional thieves as they use jammers the present mobile signals. These are all the pros and cons to consider also you have to be very careful with placement as it can become easy to see where mounted if not done properly
Recently had my motorbike stolen so i will 100% be getting this on my new bike thanks!
Id be interested in a video about the stuff that isnt worth the money
Bought one after seeing RJ's vlog and got a 20% discount as they were doing a promo at the time. Excellent bit of kit. I've worked with clients on monitoring systems in the past (writing the control centre, database, configuration software and customer web front ends) so have experience of this tech since 2005. Works a treat.
I agree, very impressive....
Thanks TMF,
my bike was stolen at the beginning of May :(
When I am able to find a replacement I will certainly purchase one of these too!
Saw you mention this in your new security video Andy and these look great. Much appreciated and will get one via your link.
Thanks
Bob
Cool, thanks - if you act fast you can get a discount via my link too....
Why would you not show what the unit looks like? It’s not like you can’t very easily look online and see. If your going to actually do a review I am sure many people interested would like to know what kind of real estate it would consume to determine all the available installation options you may have
Lol,,, Not trying to bust your balls because otherwise I enjoy your videos...
Just wanted to say I have bought a Monimoto not just on your review but never heard of anything bad so since I’m in the process of putting up a new shed so want just that little more security so just want thanks for your help in making my mind up
Gav 👍
Glad to be of service!
Agreed - the Monimoto is a breeze to set up and still a relative bargain.....
I use a TK Star 905 tracker, no subscription and costs virtually nothing to run once you set it to data mode. Couldn't recommend it more highly. Only £35 and the built-in battery lasts about 2 months.
How do you get a SIM card for no ongoing subscription???
Great review but I think you should mention the features this tracker doesn’t have over the more premium trackers, such as recording your riding route and rf transmitter if it gets stuffed in a lockup/shipping container.
I tried to cover the differences but forgot the RF bit - thanks for raising.
The one thing that has put me off fitting a tracker is the initial purchase and fitting cost and the high monthly subscriptions. This does seem a more reasonable set up and £2-3 a month is not too bad
Exactly my point!
Very interesting and hoping they work in the US with a local SIM card. TMF mug turned up today and very nice it is too.
Great stuff!
Hi TMF. Call me skeptical, but with all the police cuts I wonder how long or if at all they respond to most reported bike thefts.
Exactly Pastie - every little helps!
Thats an interesting thing. Thanks for showing it. Thankfully over here in the Netherlands (at least where I live) bike crime is non-existent. If I was living in the UK, I'd definitely get one.
Been meaning to get a tracker for ages. Great, succinct review. One's in the post now!!!
I’ve been really impressed with it I must say....
Great and useful review as usual Mr TMF. Will purchase one for the Africa Twin as soon as they come back into stock.
Excellent as always and a very important issue. I’ve been looking at trackers in the last few weeks so will definitely give this a once-over before deciding. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!
You too Steve...
Oh I see....yes I think potentially that would work....
I’m sure that’s the one RJ featured a few weeks ago. And he seemed to like it as well. 👍
Yes its a good bit of kit - great value too...(and they're not paying me to say that!)
He had a 20% discount setup with them!
That's how I got mine and it shipped to the States and is set up for our network.
Very interesting and timely. I shall definitely look further into this. Thanks TMF 👍
I am ordering and will use this one. Thanks for the video review. Appreciated.
Do you think the MoneiMoto would be a good device/would work on a sports car automobile?
Yes sure!
@@TheMissendenFlyer if I'm make sure to order from your link, can you get affiliate credit?
Good idea , only down side is the Bluetooth would probably be attended to the keys , if someone stole the keys . Is it possible to call the device up to report back the location ?
Yes ideally you wouldn’t keep the fob with the keys like I do....
I wish I had purchased one of these. I had my new BMW GS stolen in London last week. It's basically been a complete nightmare. The police were useless and closed the file within 3 days while I'm still waiting to hear from the insurer .. An expensive tracker is a bargain if it means not losing your bike!!
Sorry to hear that - hope the insurance pays out soon…
I've not used a tracker for a while as the Biketrac I had fitted was forever sending false alerts, giving incorrect position information for the trip logger or when riding wales it would go completely dark. However I'm prepared to give this Monimoto effort a go.
Great value compared to the more “premium” services....delivers 90% of the functionality at a fraction of the price it seems....
Thanks for doing the maths! (in my defence I filmed this a few weeks ago :o) )
I had a quote for insurance for my Kawasaki Z800 Sugomi with and without a tracker £15.00 difference ill just stick with disc lock and chain but nice video mate
yet again, another excellent review. Having just ordered my new bike I will look this product up. Thanks for the video.
Nice one. Still no tracker on my bike, this looks like an affordable option, cheers.
Yes probably true but anything is better than nothing if there’s a chance it’ll work IMO
Could you do a review on a tracker for someone like myself who owns a bike that cost under a thousand please. You know those who are on a budget like me who is out of work.
Looks just the job, I've ordered one from their website. Currently backordered to June 6-13.
Looks pretty good, must investigate further. Cheers TMF.
Sounds great. The others are so expensive. Enjoyed the MCN article.
Cheers
Wow - thanks for writing that lot!
BTW people who cant install theyr own trackers on theyr bikes can expect high tracker costs no matter what...
Thanks for a very interesting review. Product looks good - low cost and simple. Just ordered one so we'll see how it goes in a couple of days.
All I can say Stephen is I was reluctant at first but have since been very impressed with this - I think you’ll like it!
That looks a much more cost effective product, thanks TMF!
Yes I’ve been very impressed with it so far I must say....
i have one on my bike for a year . it a good bit off kit . the app is very helpfull .had a small problem with the key fob . just flat bat .
Thanks for making these videos. From CT, U.S.A.
My pleasure!
Hi TMF, great review! Went to order one on line and they are sold out at the moment. Nice little alarm.
Another good review - 12 mths or so on from the initial review, would you still recommend it? Many thanks. Paul
By saying bluetooth range between the device and key sounds a bit ambiguous tbh. In the Delboys Garage video he claims he checked with Monimoto and they say its 100 meters. I was thinking of putting one on my track bike but it would be away from the circuit before I could react on this basis.
Mine kicks off at about three metres!
I followed your advice regarding the cleaning products and bought 3 of them.
The leather cleaner, the dry chain lube and the brake dust repellent........I must say I'm really impressed with ALL 3 items!!
So my question is to you TMF is it worth lashing out on the Monimoto? (I know you rate it otherwise you wouldn't review it)
My concern is hiding the tracker as under the seat or the pillion seat seems a little obvious or I'm I missing the point??
Whereas, when the more expensive tracker chips are fitted it's always unknown location apart from the professional installer who fitted it.
Or is this more for peace of mind??
Well I'm very impressed with mine - depends on the bike but you should be able to find somewhere non obvious to stash it - it is quite small.....
Thanks for the fast reply TMF
What happens if you have parked your bike away from the Bluetooth signal (like an underground carpark, shopping centre) would it still alert you? Great review as usual 👍
Only if it was moved....
Hi Andy. Are you still using the Monimoto and, if yes, could you do (or just reply to me with) an update on your experience with it? It would be really useful to know if you still rate it as highly as your initial review, and if there have been any issues with it. Many thanks, in advance.
I have one and it works great. Very happy.
Yes the cell is replaceable....
Very affordable. I think my bike is too old to have any appeal for stealing though. If I get something newer /more shiney I would definitely consider this.
Any bike is worth stealing for a so minded torag.
No price on peace of mind. Good work, I’ll check it out.
Very true!
Just wondering if it gets stolen how do the police track it down or do they even or do you have to do it yourself?
You tell the Police where it is....
