    Thanks Frank. I have the same model made the same year. We use our projector as our main TV. It started sounding like a bug zapper. This video is perfect for cleaning. It was so dusty. And I even was able to put it back together. 😃
    I was hesitant to watch. Maybe add ‘how to clean’ in the title and description.

    Amazing video, very informative. Sadly the only place I can buy a bulb is Amazon or eBay. Both places are not acceptable(what I understood from your video). i am not from the US. is there any site you can recommend that I can buy a new bulb for my Viewsonic PX727-4k? please help. (that shipped overseas) not sure if it helps but I am from Israel. don't know anyone that sells this kind of lamps around here.

      Happy New Year! I would check apoglamps.com/en/product.php?act=view&id=12015 and search their distributor list or email their contact listed and ask them for a vendor who serves Israel. I am pretty sure there are as I think I have been asked this before. RLC-117 is what you want(as you probably know).

    Would this be a good projector for a golf simulator? I found a lightly used one for around 250.

      it'd probably work fine. Im not super well versed on their uses though. I just repair, I haven't done installs in a long time.

    I have this same projector with vertical lines in the pictures. Bulb is still super bright and the image quality (aside from the lines) is still very sharp. I cannot find anyone to fix it. Any ideas?

    I have an Epson Cinema 1060. When I look for new lamps, a million options come up. I just bought one and seems as dim. Can you guide me to a legit lamp? I couldn't find it on the Epson site

    • @FixitFrank

      epson.com/Accessories/Projector-Accessories/ELPLP97-Replacement-Projector-Lamp-Bulb/p/V13H010L97 (if they get them back in stock, epson has been weird recently) They discontinued the ELPLP96 and replaced it with the ELPLP97. The only difference is a notch in the connector that was removed. Otherwise they were identical. There are some aftermarket Osram options but I think this one will be better. www.purelandsupply.com/epson-projector-lamp_elplp97.html This one has the osram inside. Its pretty good and might be fine but if you look elsewhere you want at least an osram but ideally an Iwasaki /epson bare lamp inside.

      One other thought. The 1060 is kind of known for cooling issues. If you get a lamp and it's life is short or if it smells funny the blower fan should be checked or possibly even cleaned. I doubt you'll run into that but i remembered a few 1060s that it happened to.

    • @My85GSL
      @My85GSL ปีที่แล้ว

      @FixitFrank do you know any pages that show a full breakdown of the 1060? Seem to only have access to the lamp area, unless you're meaning to just used short blasts of compressed air? I'll be ordering a true lamp this coming week lol

    • @FixitFrank

      hmm. Thats a tough one. check APOlamps.com and see if they have a dealer in your area. They are who I like for aftermarket lamps. They seem to make the best.

    this is a bit of a weird one, Frank, i have a BenQ TW535, it's 1280x800 native but you can input 1920x1080 and i guess it downsizes it(?). So when I started playing games with my computer output set to 1920x1080 it kept going blank and saying 'out of range', which it never did until I started playing games on it. I changed the output from my computer to 1280x800 and the issue has gone away. Am I correct thinking it was having too much info thrown the downsizing chip?

    • @mysterycrumble
      @mysterycrumble 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      excuse terms like 'downsizing chip' i don't know what the right names are :)

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're good! I never had training on this stuff. I just learned as I went. Downsize is a good description for it. I think it's called up scaling or down scaling.
      I suspect it's because of the input you're using. Vga can bypass the scaler and is projected as it's sent from the source. The upscaling would probably work on another input. If your PC video card has DVI, you can use a dvi to HDMI adapter which are cheap(less than 10euros usually).
      Ideally you want a true 1080 dlp unit though. The rescaling is a marketing wank trick in my opinion. I wish they'd be more clear about the capabilities.
      1280x800 is doable but I've been running 1920 x 1080 for a while and would be annoyed at that myself.
      Try the other inputs and I think you're going to be able to get it going.

      @mysterycrumble 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FixitFrank to be honest for what i paid 1280x800 is fine, i mostly just watch films and now sometimes play games, initially i could see the rainbow if i moved my eyes but that seems to have gone away i don't know if my brain filters it out or if the projector has just sort of broken itself in. i nearly bought one of the chinese no name brands but the nice folk on reddit guided me away from those and i'm glad of it now i've seen the quality difference (both construction and image quality) and the image on this entry level benq is actually really good (i project to about 80inch diagonal) and it's bright as hell, it's hdmi out from the pc to hdmi in on the projector and like i said since i changed the res to the projectors native resolution it's been fine. your channel is really good i love your videos!

      FYI: The bulb from Pureland Supply was exactly what it was supposed to be, It even showed up a day before the expected date. The original bulb always used to slightly flicker in eco mode and this new one is flawless. Other than the $30 drop in price after i ordered it, I would still recommend PureLand Supply at this point if you need a quality bulb fast. -Edit: They refunded me the difference due to the price drop being within a week.
