Germans trying to scuttle H-class before it burns all german fuel, soviets finding out that they have battleships they don't know about, WT AAA AI getting its hands upon Montana battleship and poor italian P-108 trying to do at least something to anybody with its 102mm howitzer. Surviving 3 Fritz-X anti ship missiles and being the first to provide fire support on d day to the point it needed barrel replacement after firing so much at germans GRANTED it may or may not have had a history of ramming things... friendly ships.... cruise liner...mines....a rock..

Sank many U Boats and, was KIA in 23 March 1944 .

Straight from the John Wayne little book of "how I won the war"!My father was in the british merchant navy- sunk twice in the atlantic by u-boats and once in the mediteranean by the us air force (another eplsode of friendly fire.). I am 83 and have studied maritime history all my life and never heard of a victory or liberty (merchant ships) ever sinking a single or MANY uboats.Such is life!!!

    • @Irish381
      @Irish381 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@waltersnowdon1243 oh, really? Towards the end of the battle of The Atlantic, liberty ships were being used as decoys to lure U Boats into attacking them. The convoy would have a destroyer sub hunter embedded into the convoy. This along with the use of liberty ships carrying hedge hog mine launderers. Helped to assist in sinking enemy submarines. My memory is a bit hazy, but I read the western Union telegram that reported my great grandfather was killed in action along with two other merchant marines. From an explosion aboard ship. His name and the other two names are on a brass plate at the Rochester War Memorial. As well as on the D.C. Washington Atlantic War Memorial. You Don’t Have to Be Marion R. Robertson to assist in sinking U- Boats. Simply being a decoy is a lot more courageous than acting in lame propaganda films.

      You should check out the size of the British Merchant Navy, no doubt your Great Grand father helped and played his part in winning the war. But the British Merchant fleet was by far the largest in the world, at least at the beginning of the war, the tonnages lost was staggering. The life’s lost is quite soul destroying when you look back on it, and such horrible deaths.

    I was on the ship this was filmed on just yesterday, thought it looked familiar and I was correct: It's the HMS Caroline, sole survivor of the World War One Battle of Jutland.

    7:08 Funny thing is that's exactly where the explosion happened on the Hood. The aft magazine detonated and the explosion shot out from the empty section of deck just as seen there.
    Anyway this video was hilarious as usual chaps and Squires Bosche talk was quite entertaining.

    During the actual hunt for the Bismarck a squadron of Swordfish torpedo bombers did mistake a British cruiser as the Bismarck. They launched an attack but fortunately the new magnetic detonators in the torpedoes failed to work. The bombers returned to the carrier to rearm, this time with conventional contact detonators, before launching a new attack against the actual Bismarck.

    Dear gentlemen of the Squire channel, would you be so kindly to think on a vid about russian imperial ship "Kamchatka" on the first (and coincedentally last) voyage of the russian Second Pacific Squadron to Tsushima battle during Russo-Japanese war?
    Its journey is something right out of your scripts, gents. You won't even have to invent anything! Squadron's admiral was so pissed that he throwed binoculars into the ocean, and because of that his flagship had *boxes* of them.
    P.S.
    Tank you!
