The good "old" days. Then they were marvelous, and if something has changed in the interim it's that they have become even better. These brilliant ladies will continue showing us what beauty is. Shouldn't we be grateful?
Thanks as always for checking out more Lovebites. These are two of their oldest songs, and it shows how mature their writing already was when they started the band.
A nice beautiful ballad. Last track on the 2nd album, Clockwork Immortality, which was brand new at this concert. First metal song Asami wrote, Mao co wrote the music with her. 2nd song, Don't Bite the Dust" is from the debut album, Awaken From Abyss, and was written by Miho, with Mao helping on the music. Midori and Miyako's guitars do sound awesome together. This Daughters of the Dawn show was their first concert DVD.
"Don't Bite The Dust" was first on "The LOVEBITES EP", and like all 4 songs on this debut EP, they got an "Awakened version" on their debut LP (while "Bravehearted" was translated from Japanese to English). DBTD was the first song on their first EP and the first OMV!

"Don't Bite The Dust" was their first headliner song in 2017, also their first OMV (level 2 was "Shadowmaker"). They've still played it on their 2024 tour in Europe and UK. It's a timeless classic from their first EP "The LOVEBITES EP" and debut LP!
Thanks Bob, and Guy. This rendition of Epilogue has yet to be equalled as my favourite individual LOVEBITES performance. Asami leaves everything out on the stage. She says that she has always sung every time as if it is her last performance. I’ve seen her perform either live or recorded thousands of times and she never gives us anything less than one hundred per cent of herself. Just like LOVEBITES compositions, there is no mediocre. Like you say - World Class.
Epilogue was my first introduction to Lovebites. Was in love with it immediately. Don’t bite the dust was their first musicvideo. Great to hear Miyako doing the background vocals in this version of don’t bite the dust. They are my favorite band now. Thanks for this reaction.
Brilliant review as always. Yes, it is natural for Asami on Epilogue as an R&B singer. Epilogue is a song that Lovebites as the best to play with R&B Asami + M&M + piano. Don't Bite The Dust is their first released song. It is a special piece for Lovebites.
Epilogue is a song they rarely play, would love for them to play it again! Really awesome ballad! Dont Bite the Dust is a really fun song that always gets you going, really enjoyed it live! 🤘😊
Hey James! Nice to hear from you! It was an awesome song and they are incredible musicians. I’m guessing by your handle you are a drummer. Do you play for fun or are you in a band?
“Epilogue” is my all-time favorite power ballad and “Don’t bite the dust “ is an excellent rocker. Both songs showing the versatility and musicianship of the band.
First song is Epilogue and second is Don't Bite the Dust. Daughters of the Dawn is the name of the DVD/Bluray and CD, I can go for them doing another ballad😁
ASAMI is a Soul/R&B singer who didn’t listen to Metal before being asked to join Lovebites. The intention was to complement the heavy music with a bright voice.
In addition: their real heavy side like "Break the Wall" and their neo-classical side like "Swan Song & Chopin Intro". At least we got four sides, like a square . . . .
In Japan there is a philosophical concept called Wabi-sabi, part of which is to see and appreciate the beauty in imperfection. Don't think it's going to be much used with Lovebites.
You know I liked it since I recommended it, lol. A great song to hit the heart, and smartly a follow up to bring the crowd right back. Glad you enjoyed it. I think that was some of Asami's best emotional singing, displaying some of the R&B she used to do. I also really liked the M&M's in both songs. Thanks for the reaction Bob!!
@@bobcieslinski So Bob, let me suggest: "Empty Daydream" as an additional sample of Asami's R&B skills (as long as you haven't already reacted to this composition) . . . 😊
This is actually the songs Epilogue and Don't Bite the Dust done on the Daughters of the Dawn Live CD/DVD. It shows their variety in their music. Great reaction Bob! I love Epilogue. Such a beautiful song! I think Asami does sing it differently than normal here. She's certainly carrying a lot of emotion in this one, but also, particularly after Miyako's solo, she comes in really strong, but she is belting in her mix with a lot more chest resonance in her deep mid tones. She has a really deep mid tone she can sustain and you hear it pretty strong here as well as in parts of When Destinies Align (amazing song). Often she's belting way up high, such as in Soldier and Set the World on Fire. Really love this part of her voice, but I lover her voice overall. Everone else killing it as usual. It's nice to hear them on acoustic, and Miyako on piano is always fantastic.

A great pairing! Not much to add about "Epilogue" that would be distinct to what everyone felt: that is just a centennial ballad, on par with much that undisputed masters like SCORPIONS have done, but even more breathtaking coming from a group like LOVEBITES who have not made their daily bread out of ballads... seriously, next time they record something for a capsule to be shot into space, saying "this is music from Earth", that song could deservedly be there. As for "Don't Bite the Dust", it is one of the band's earliest ones, all the way from their first recordings. I used to not dig it very much as a pure audio (perhaps too "rocky" for my Metal nerd taste), BUT, seeing this performed live with the obvious joie-de-vivre and a surplus of energy, with Miyako dancing (!), Miho leaping and Asami pumping up the crowd, er... I think that is a great one, too. As another reactor stated: can't they be mediocre, once?! Nope. :]
The musical craftmanship of Lovebites lies in the final notes of "Epilogue" (the unison part you said was the hardest, not the "van Halen" lick of Midori which was on this live version only). Epilogue is the last track of the album, and its final notes are the same as the very first notes of "Addicted" which is the first track. So the album comes full circle.
Every time I listen to Epilogue I want to cry. Such a beautiful melody. The studio version does not have the Midori/Hendrix ending. It was the only studio song, that I know of, that has a fade out at the end. They added Midori's end to this live version of an epic power ballad. Brilliant reaction as always Bob. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
I just love this band and so glad that you enjoy them too! Epilogue is a good reminder of Asami's R & B background....beautifully performed! Awesome to hear both of these classics once again.....enjoyed your comments! Cheers!
Both songs in sequence should be outlawed :), as an audience, you just get drowned in a sea of tears and in a second's notice, your blood-pressure gets raised above Mt.Everest - that's absolutely NOT HEALTHY for an old man, ladies. ;)
The latter song, [Don't Bite The Dust], was the first music video to appear after the formation of LOVEBITES. In other words, it was their actual debut song. Compared to the current LOVEBITES, it is a compact song and the performance feels ordinary. However, surprisingly, they have continued to play this song in almost all of their live shows up until now in 2024. I think this is because [Don't Bite The Dust] is a song of special value to LOVEBITES, a song that is at the origin of the band. --------- from Nippon *This is a text using Google Translate. I hope that the intention is conveyed correctly.
Great analysis and review Bob ! Just a quick bit of housekeeping - in your thumbnail, the first song (the power ballad) should be "Epilogue", and the second consecutive track is "Don't Bite the Dust". "Daughters of the Dawn" is the name of the LIVE album where this video clip came from. Also, I think you've got Midori and Miyako mixed up at the beginning of "Epilogue" (capo on acoustic guitar and Miyako's first bit on the piano). Happens to the best of us ! 😅 It's always mind-boggling for me to experience Miyako's seamless transition of instruments in "Epilogue" : acoustic guitar ==> piano ==> lead guitar ==> piano ==> lead guitar
You always know when Miyako pick up her I think Icon Dean, you know you are in for a treat. Gary Moore feeling. So epic and so be. She can make her guitar cry. And and Asamis voice. Everybody in the epic band are amazing. Midori epic playing and Miho lay down powerfull bass And then we have the little big engine. ❤❤❤
Miyako on keyboard 🎹 Midori on acoustic guitar MIho on bass Haruna on drums Asami on vocals just a beautiful song by a beautiful amazingly talented ladies love ❤️ Lovebites one of the best power metal bands ever these ladies can do it all 😊🤘🐺

Hi Bob, just so you know, you’ve had Midori and Miyako mixed up, When you mentioned the capo on the semi-acoustic Martin guitar, it was Miyako, but Midori also played her Martin with a capo! Later on you mentioned Midori on piano, but that’s actually Miyako! Not that it matters, Midori can also play the piano, but she doesn’t in Lovebites. 👍🤘
@ It was confusing for sure because Miyako opened the song on acoustic guitar playing the lead, while the camera showed Midori playing something else, and then Midori took over the melodic line , before Miyako switched to the keyboard! 👍
"Musical Key Changes"? How great is this nowadays! Listen to the current main stream of profit driven industrial entertainment industry instead. The less the number of used keys the lower the cost and efforts are . . . But key changes are like a rich source of (nearly forgotten?) emotions, music is able to convey such effortless- and playfully - but only with really good skilled and enabled musicians . . . !
"Addicted" music by Miyako, lyrics by Asami, LIVE 2020: th-cam.com/video/IYIFaR11Eng/w-d-xo.html "Addicted" solo piano arrangement by Miyako LIVE 2023: th-cam.com/video/gDl7oIs2Mm4/w-d-xo.html
I hope they do another full on ballad someday. They clearly have mastered it. And a great choice of a following song as the audience needed to get the energy back after such an emotional performance. 👏👏👏👏👏👏😄😄
The insane talent on full display and Asami's lyrics and vocals are just sensational. Miyako on acoustic, then piano and then her "Gary Moore" solo with Midori going from acoustic to her queen of the shredders is just another great example of the talent. This is barely 2+ years from forming and they have ALL gotten much better individually and as a group, think about it and that truly shows the talent these musicians have to offer.
Great song and reaction. I have to ask do the jazzy version of Bad valentine by Toby Gad and Angelina Jordan. Its on Toby's piano diaries. Please thanks. The best Angelina has ever sound. You will play it over and over. That's how awesome it sounds!
Good reaction . Miyako’s solo has resemblance to Gary Moore’s song “Still Got the Blues “. Miyako did a short version on TH-cam before. If you haven’t heard Gary Moore song ,it’s well worth the listen
This was the song for their 1st MV. PLEASE PLEASE don't take this is banging on you. You go through their whole catalog; typical LOVEBITES does not exist. A ton of people say when they're hearing a song they say okay here it comes. It's kind of funny when you see a kind of confused face loll. NOT HAT'n. Awesome reaction I love how you break every down the little goodies and nuggets. 🤘✌️🫰🙏🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺
@@bobcieslinski No big deal. It was just that at the start of the reaction you were saying that Midori has a capo on her guitar when it was clearly Miyako and then you compounded the error by referring to Midori's jazz notes on piano when again, it was Miyako. Hey I'm being picky ok. It's not a big deal as I say.... just something a super fan is going to notice.
@@michaelafrancis1361 I think, the problem is, that most people don't even realize, that BOTH played in the acoustic part, though Midori did the main guitar. Blame it on the darkness, though
Please react to VOWER and also UNPEOPLE, two new insanely talented british bands. Vower including rabea massad, massively influential in modern guitar playing!

I just love this band and so glad that you enjoy them too! Epilogue is a good reminder of Asami's R & B background....beautifully performed! Awesome to hear both of these classics once again.....enjoyed your comments! Cheers!
Asami's voice is so amazing.

It's always mind-boggling for me to experience Miyako's seamless transition of instruments in "Epilogue" : acoustic guitar ==> piano ==> lead guitar ==> piano ==> lead guitar
Thanks I’m not sure what happened cause I sure know those ladies. Both songs were incredible. They just always find a way to surprise me.
sorry that is not her gibson guitar
@ so True. I noticed that after I posted the comment. I know it’s a Dean but not sure witch model I think ICON.
That's not one of her Gibsons.... that's her Dean Icon.
All so good. Amazing music.
I will say this when she does pick up her Gibson Les Paul like on Break the Wall solo that was indeed a treat!

Man that’s crazy how I did that because I know muscles Midori and Miyako plays beautiful piano. My brain sure wasn’t sharp that day then. Thanks
The less the number of used keys the lower the cost and efforts are . . . But key changes are like a rich source of (nearly forgotten?) emotions, music is able to convey such effortless- and playfully - but only with really good skilled and enabled musicians . . . !
Great comments thanks
Magnificent Lovebites. They only make all things become beautiful (musically). Great comments bro 👍🤘
Thanks this was awesome!
Miyako's guitar solos in "Epilogue" literally cause me to tear up whenever I hear it.
ASAMI have a GREAT, "ONE and ONLY VOICE", and is also a BEAUTIFUL person.🥰😍😘

Very cool songs. The first one was really reminding me of the Scorpions ballads. Until that guitarist went into the Van Halen riff anyways. 😆
I can see that and I of course went right for the Van Halen sound she had.
I am surprised you haven't heard this one already. It is essential listening for all Lovebites fans. 🐺
Nope no one suggested it until Guy picked it for his Bivenber reaction in Patreon.
I hope they do another full on ballad someday. They clearly have mastered it. And a great choice of a following song as the audience needed to get the energy back after such an emotional performance. 👏👏👏👏👏👏😄😄
I agree Mark they need another one.
Bob: "How many different guitar riffs have we heard?"
Me: "How often have you used the word 'mindblowing'?"
😁
great comment
The insane talent on full display and Asami's lyrics and vocals are just sensational. Miyako on acoustic, then piano and then her "Gary Moore" solo with Midori going from acoustic to her queen of the shredders is just another great example of the talent. This is barely 2+ years from forming and they have ALL gotten much better individually and as a group, think about it and that truly shows the talent these musicians have to offer.
"Epilogue" first song
and one more 4:56 is not Midori on piano there 🙄
Nope it’s Miyako and if I said thr wrong thing then my brain sure wasn’t working right because I know these ladies.
@@bobcieslinski I know you often react to Lovebites and definitely know their name, I know what you mean, maybe I heard wrong
Great song and reaction. I have to ask do the jazzy version of Bad valentine by Toby Gad and Angelina Jordan. Its on Toby's piano diaries. Please thanks. The best Angelina has ever sound. You will play it over and over. That's how awesome it sounds!
That sounds amazing I will definitely add that to my list!
muscles midori ! ! love it. love her too !
Me too💪
you have the ladies mixed up Miyako plays the piano
Miyako plays piano. Did I misspeak and say Midori by accident.
@@bobcieslinskihaha yeah
Did you notice there was also a world class bass player on stage?
Yes all of them are world class.
Miho. 🥰
esta cancion es EPILOGE no es dont bite the dust
Thanks!
Good reaction . Miyako’s solo has resemblance to Gary Moore’s song “Still Got the Blues “. Miyako did a short version on TH-cam before.
If you haven’t heard Gary Moore song ,it’s well worth the listen
Midori💚💚💚💚💚 Miho💜💜💜💜💜
This was the song for their 1st MV. PLEASE PLEASE don't take this is banging on you. You go through their whole catalog; typical LOVEBITES does not exist. A ton of people say when they're hearing a song they say okay here it comes. It's kind of funny when you see a kind of confused face loll. NOT HAT'n. Awesome reaction I love how you break every down the little goodies and nuggets.
🤘✌️🫰🙏🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺
Thanks Polski!
A great reaction other than the fact that you mixed Midori and Miyako up!
I don’t remember doing that. I know who those two are. What did I mix up.
Miho Miho Miho! Miho Miho Miho!
Not to detract from your comments but I love how Miho provides a perfect bass (no pun intended) supporting everything else.
Good point.
🐺🐺🐺🤘🤘🤘
Pause..ohn Bob ,relax give play...omg ,listen and at the end talk !!!!
Sorry but I don’t work like that because I would remember nothing by the end. My brain can’t remember like it used to.
@@bobcieslinski ok

Please react to VOWER and also UNPEOPLE, two new insanely talented british bands. Vower including rabea massad, massively influential in modern guitar playing!
Thanks Louis!
