Quick drum comment, Jaron. it is actually impossible for Haruna to hit the bell on her Ride cymbal . . because there is an 8 1/2" Ice Bell sitting on top of it. Some Lovebites songs don't have what you would traditionally call a chorus, or alternatively it is very long and has several parts. I've heard them speaking of A, B, C, D melody instead; maybe that is a more useful way to think about it. What they often do is a repeated first verse (AA), then a first prechorus (B), then one more verse (A), then prechorus and two-part chorus (BCD); then solos; then maybe AABCD or just BCD, often depending on the length of the CD part; sometimes they repeat CD or just D with upward modulation. When their choruses are long, they often have only two per song. The song is pre-Lovebites actually, composed by Haruna for Destrose. About Asami's English, I've heard her speak English, and while she has an accent, it's not hard to understand her, and as you said, her pronunciation is better in the studio. I guess she prioritizes pitch and delivery when singing live, especially to a Japanese audience who couldn't care less about her English pronunciation. I don't know how much you know about Japanese, but the difference in phonology from English is significant, and it is *hard* for a native Japanese speaker to acquire a good English pronunciation; the way English is taught in Japan doesn't help either.
The one and only song compose by Haruna... Original song is in Japanese... Haruna compose this song while she is in Destrose.. the song never been played or record.. The song was recorded in LOVEBITES first LP... in LOVEBITES album Awakening From Abbyss.. Asami re-write the lyrics in English... This is the song ( Japanese version ) that introduce me to LOVEBITES... 🤘🤘🐺🐺🤘🤘...
Once Vo.Asami said. "I belive it's not important that, Can the audience recognize the lyrics or not.Because I want you to enjoy my voice as one of the instruments of the band. This is the reason why I sing in English. "「私は歌詞が聞き取れる必要は無いと思っている。声を楽器として楽しんでほしいから。それが私が英語で歌う理由です」。 & この2019年の映像を観るたびに、ステージと客席・メンバーと観客・映像にあふれる情熱とエネルギーに圧倒されます。それは、今現在のライブ映像(もちろん最高😂)とはまた違う種類の喜びを味わえるのです。
This is also the only song in the LB catalog that Asami had performed in their early career. I don’t speak a lick of Japanese so I can only express how I feel about her singing. In her native tongue, Asami just sounds more relaxed. Her spoken English is quite good on stage. But in singing, somehow her accent becomes more prominent. I get the part about her voice should be heard as part of the music composition, but I can’t help it to imagine how much her vocal would be even better if she works with a vocal coach to improve her annunciation better. English is my second language so I understand the struggle. But with her already English foundation , it shouldn’t take much to fine tune her singing even more. As it is I’m still a big fan of her voice, big enough to travel to London from NY to see them in July. What a treat!
@@raybl9295Definitely in the Japanese version of Bravehearted Asami's voice sounds more beautifully and smoothly. And I also heard that Asami is still going to keep having practics with her English teacher.
@@ボルジアトンノ As a non-Japanese speaker, I can hear Asami sings with natural emotion. She seems more relaxed without making extra effort to generate unnecessary inflection. She has uncanny power and range that most singers would die for, but some of her accented singing could be jarring for new listeners. That's why as talented as all the LB ladies to her fans, Asami remains to be the most controversial because of her thick accent. I know personally some of my American friends shuts down about listening LB because of her accent. You can still hear many YTers making similar comments even though they love the LB music. LB unlike most Japanese bands, they have chosen English as their main sound so perfecting the language will no doubt improve their popularity especially for the jaded American market.
this is an earlier performance - 2019 - and asami's english has definitely gotten more recognizable through time. but as you say - the mixing in this concert should have brought her volume up a tad. and if there were subtitles then you also would understand her better. i love this song - there are changes through it that are really good. it takes much talent to write a song this good and i am surprised that haruna has not written more. this really is her song.
You'll likely get some criticism from some hard core fans regarding your observation that Asami is very difficult to understand. I'm a hard core fan and I 100% agree with you. Asami's English enunciation isn't great and this is especially true of her older performances. I have been listening to LOVEBITES literally every day for the last 3 or 4 years, and I still struggle to understand Asami in her live performances. Her enunciation is much better (but still far from perfect) in their studio recordings.
I don't think it's just Asami. Most Japanese people have a hard time adapting to English pronunciation because they are not used to using the alphabet (A-Z) but Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. That's why I think the Japanese version of this song is much better because Asami can sing perfectly.
Difficult to understand Asami's english accent? Now try to understand that Bridear vocalist english accent 😅. That's the way of japanese speak english, it's hard for them because they had completely different alphabet. Unless they living abroad, it's impossible for them to speak/pronounce proper english. Japanese fans doesn't care english lyrics anyway, many of them listen to western band without knowing what they're singing about. But many western band love japanese fans because they're passionate about music, hence you often found "japan only" record albums. They're still buying CDs over there, while in the US/europe struggling to keep records store alive.

LOVEBITES - Bravehearted lyrics & credits:
Throw away all the masks that you wear
You're not fooling nobody with cheap imitations
Don't take it, your heart can see right through it all
Turn and face all the fear that you're hiding from
Take what you can and turn everything into your own strength
Keep pushing forth, all the way
Chained to the fear engraved deep inside
Memories that will stay, still haunting
Even if there is nobody else
You must keep the promise of faith
Don't you pity yourself for your weakness
Without any sacrifice, you can forget all the prayers
It's up to you to be your God
Drowning into a sea of hopelessness
Underneath all the weight and burden
If you want to escape destiny
Be prepared to burn through the blazing sun
Glory to the brave, deserted you may stand
But no matter how arduous, be the victorious
Prove that your will's the strongest battle cry
Go and raise your sword, the war has just begun
There is always a way if you know that your heart is true
Nothing can stop your soul from breaking free
Don't turn your back, no don't make it pretend
Fight through the pain until you've reached the end
Though dark and bloody, have no worries
There will be redemption
Finally when the skies rise over you
Triumph will be in your heart shining through
Forever guiding the way into the light
Silently listening to words of Hell and hate
Shatters the armour to sway your fragile heart
Still it's the only way, refuse to give it up
Keep the focus, and you will notice
Everything is almost in your grasp
Drowning into a sea of hopelessness
Underneath all the weight and burden
If you want to escape destiny
Be prepared to burn through the blazing sun
Glory to the brave, deserted you may stand
But no matter how arduous, be the victorious
Prove that your will's the strongest battle cry
Go and raise your sword, the war has just begun
There is always a way if you know that your heart is true
Nothing can stop your soul from breaking free
Don't turn your back, no don't make it pretend

Though dark and bloody, have no worries
