    Shami Burger Recipe
    Ingredients for Shami Patties:
    250g minced meat (beef or chicken)
    1 cup split chickpeas (chana dal) soaked for 2-3 hours
    1 onion chopped
    4-5 garlic cloves
    1-inch ginger piece
    2-3 green chilies
    1 tsp red chili powder
    1 tsp garam masala powder
    1 tsp cumin seeds
    Salt to taste
    1 egg (for binding)
    2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
    1 tbsp oil (for frying)
    Ingredients for Burger Assembly:
    4 burger buns
    4 tbsp mayonnaise or yogurt
    4 tbsp ketchup or chili sauce
    Lettuce leaves
    Sliced tomatoes
    Sliced onions
    Cheese slices (optional)
    Instructions for Shami Patties:
    1. Prepare the Meat Mixture:
    In a pressure cooker add minced meat soaked chana dal chopped onion garlic ginger green chilies cumin seeds red chili powder garam masala and salt. Add enough water to cover the mixture.
    Cook the mixture on medium heat for 15-20 minutes until the dal and meat are tender and the water is completely absorbed.
    2. Grind the Mixture:
    Once the mixture cools down, grind it in a food processor or blender to make a smooth paste. The mixture should be dry enough to form patties.
    Add chopped coriander and one egg to the paste and mix well.
    3. Shape and Fry Patties:
    Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into round patties.
    Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the patties on medium heat until golden brown on both sides.
    Assemble the Burgers:
    1. Toast the Buns:
    Slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on a pan with a little butter or oil.
    2. Layer the Ingredients:
    Spread mayonnaise or yogurt on the bottom bun.
    Add a lettuce leaf a slice of tomato and a slice of onion.
    Place the Shami patty on top and add a cheese slice if desired.
    Spread ketchup or chili sauce on the top bun and close the burger.
    3. Serve:
    Serve the Shami burgers with fries or salad.
