Salty folk that a diesel is faster than there race car the class above them. Every man and his dog has told them diesels are for economy not performance then they get rinsed by one. Darkside magic at its finest 👌
I ordered some parts from them for my V10tdi and i instantly noticed that with almost 900nm i gapped my friend in his tuned Golf R (about 480hp) torque is a crazy weapon in drag racing.
I'm a little concerned about Ryan's well-being with a bottle of Gordon's Pink Gin and what look like Greek stuff olives on the passenger seat. Can you please re-assure us that Ryan's a bitter drinking Yorkshire man and on the road to recovery.
Thank god for that then that he's not a bitter drinking fella, bitter is like the old woodbine ciggies or park drive I can remember my dear nan and grandad smoking, all 3 are in same category and it's category for strictly those aged at least 65+ lol.
And of course a lot of people talk about peak power being the only thing that matters, your drive-ability could be miles better and also you could have 10-15% more power across the rev range. Add that to your drivers talent, car setup and how it suits a particular track layout it can vary so much! Mega job!
The way you drive doesn't magically make the engine stronger, it allows you to use the car to its full potential, thus making you faster by being more efficient. Like the old saying goes, "work smarter, not harder."
@@b17blg So what exactly could they do to the driveability of this car? I can think of spacing out the wheels, making it lower, better alloy wheels for less weight, better tyres, racing calipers, racing breaks and discs, fine-tuned steering rack to go with a fine tuned suspension, improved engine mounts, lighter pulleys, different transmission, gearbox and drive train to improve gear-ratio and have less power loss, upgraded clutch, short shifter kit, body kit upgrades, upgraded and lightened flywheel, etc. All these just make the car more efficient. Upgrading the entire throttle system of your car, maybe trying to convert a cable throttle system to an electronic one makes it programmable and so you can fine tune it. Tho stuff like this is going to cost a lot, whilst giving you 1% or less increase on driving performance.
@@britishgamer666 I’ll be honest I have no idea what you are talking about. I commented on peak figures not being all too relevant and actually the mapping could make the car easier or more driveable, especially low down in gears rather than inducing a loss of traction by introducing max boost and torque I.e the driveability of the car. I’m not sure what you are trying to get at because your response doesn’t even correlate with what I was talking about
You guys are just to good at what you do :P ...Dyno to Dyno figure variations can be due to loads of factors. Environmental differences; Dew Point, Relative Humidity, Ambient Air Temp, Altitude, etc ...Variations on each particular Dynos; a Roller drum bearing that has a little bit more drag(due to lack of lubrication, age, mechanical fault). Dyno cell conditions(Exhaust gas dilution of the intake air charge, etc.). Great job on the wins a any rate, and congrats on not being disqualified! Onto the next round!
Really enjoy these vids where different folk "in an industry" work together and lovely seeing REPerformance a channel I've started watching lately. And ALL HAIL THE BEEP.
It's hard to draw a solid line in the sand for max power & torque because there is always a slight difference in the figures from different dyno types. I think the rules need adjusting to account for this. Perhaps an allowance of something like 3% would be a good idea?
tyre pressure thers a good chance your tyres were hard on your dyno and after altering pressures for the track day etc it produces more drag on the dyno and then inflates the numbers
Seems a bit daft that you have the choice of three dyno's when there is such a variation between them. Surely the championship should pick one and stick with that for consistency.
Its not that simple, and the dyno debate will go on long after were dead. Just watched a car go into 3 rooms, not seen a single dyno cell in any of these videos yet, although, THEY FINALLY HOOD DOWN DYNO there cars, so its representative. Hood Up = Walk away find another cell. 7 Second sweeps only for cooling = Walk away find another cell Unless the dyno can run your car for HOURS at full load it aint worth a wank, and thats just my opinion. Like i said this will go on forever.

Aww, I’ve missed that beep. It’s like an old annoying friend that you’ve kinda got used to. Anyway, the car is so fast for three reasons. One, the chassis is spot on (hell, the whole package is). Two, Croft suits diesels as the torque (and/or power band) help it get out of the hairpin well. Three, Scott is a very good driver who knows how to get the best out of the package.
My concern is why should Scott car go to another Dyno .My experience in turning one has to look at the CFM,AMBIENT TEMPERATURE, etc . These are important factors one has to take into consideration, and surely Ryan KNOWS what he IS DOING .
The slippery slope of different dyno's! Glad to see you guys scraped in. As an aside my T5 fuel gauge seems to be more affected by the phase of the moon than any fuel in the tank, so I had to laugh at that part of the video. God damn T5's, nothing is simple.

A Lot of the competition are driving petrols so have to rev the nuts of them to achieve peak power and probably have a similar torque figure to their BHP. Where as you probably have about 3/4 more torque then you do have BHP. So of course you drive away from them coming out of corners . Plus there is all the unknowns with a turbo car ambient temperature air density. Etc etc . They just don't like getting beat by a diesel. Keep up the good work. 👍

Sounds a bit like little dick syndrome! Went to race an R6 at Cadwell Park but with a full day test session the day before. Had a guy with an XJR 1300 grizzling that my bike couldn't be a 600cc as I was storming past him on the straight. Lost a chunk of time with my bike being crawled over and discussed. Suggestion was that it had a 750cc R7 engine in it - fat chance of that! Up shot is that they decided I was fine. What a weird scenario to just take the ecu. Did they have anyone competent go through the ecu looking for switchable maps or anything ? Also weird they let you keep the car. Many ways you could have added a restriction and slowed it down a bit. Just seems like a waste of 500 miles and everyone driving around.
I guess keeping the whole car makes more sense, but then the organiser would need to transport the car around instead of us. The ECU was sealed until it was ran on the Dyno. We could have done a lot to reduce the power, but we didn't touch the car between the race or dyno sessions. We were confident we did not have too much power
@@DarksideDevelopments fair play. Just seems like an exercise of doing something to make it look like something was done. You could of had a 50hp push to pass button wired up and and if no one looked at the ecu it would have passed fine. Just a waste of everyone’s time.
Worn tyres will gain you nearly 5% power on a wheel dyno compared to new tyres. If they wanted to be accurate then they should of suggested a mainline/dynodynamics hub dyno
Less rolling resistance (mass) against the rollers and slight circumference change play a part, even strapping the vehicle down harder will change the measure amount slightly. A dyno is a tool for tuning

Diesel engine conspiracy, it’s all just torque
Surely torque plays a massive part in performance.
