Crazy good review! I just picked this mic up through Amazon Vine and I wanted to see what I'm getting myself into.
The quality seems really nice for the price and it will definitely be enough for me chatting with my friends over discord.
I noticed at one point that you talked about using an equalizer, but I must have missed which one. I'm currently using APO, if you got any other recommendations, I'd love to hear them

I was always hoping to get invited to the Amazon Vine thing, I used to leave a lot of reviews but eventually I got lazy and stopped leaving the reviews on Amazon lol, sounds like you just have to leave a lot of reviews and hope they pick you, not sure, but as far as this little microphone it's not bad I mean if I put on some studio monitor headphones from mixing professional audio I definitely hear some flaws and some issues but the overall sound signature is pretty neutral, it doesn't sound tinny or boxy or anything like that I mean it just has a natural ish sound, you really can't beat it for $35. Now if you're using an equalizer I mean there's a lot of different VST plugins that you can use on your audio editing software or if you have a VST host or something like that, I don't remember mentioning that on this particular video I think I was just talking about the way of the company set the EQ curve at the factory, like if you build your own microphone as your soldering the little transistors and resistors in there's certain pieces you can change to give it more high-end or more low end or more mids so they kind of EQ it from the factory and then if you feel that you need to remove a couple of bad frequencies or need the boost to high end or at a little bit of presence, fabfilter pro Q3, is amazing but it's pretty expensive, The free TDR Nova, or the free reaper EQ, The waves f6 is a affordable EQ that a lot of people love, it's a great EQ but I don't prefer the user interface but it's a very good one for the money. if you go over to reaper's website they not only have audio editing software software That's really good and really portable but kind of complicating, they also have a free package of plugins that work on other digital to audio workstations they also work on OBS studio and stuff like that for recording your TH-cam videos or live streaming, I've never actually tried APO but that looks pretty interesting cuz I'm correct that's designed to work with windows itself, but in the professional audio world you normally you don't want to have to do too much EQ, when you record something you want it to be like 90 or 95% finished, you should only need a little tiny bit of EQ to maybe remove a couple of bad frequencies that the microphone or the room was giving off, some compression to control the water parts and quieter parts so they're closer together. And then if you're going to add some reverb or delay which you don't really want to do to a speaking voice you throw that in there and then finally throw a limiter on it to push it up to the volume you want and to make sure it never goes over that specific volume so if you're trying to hit like the loudness standards for Netflix or Spotify or even TH-cam you can use your limiter to get it to the exact volume those platforms are looking for but audio editing is something that takes a very long time to learn, some of the things that seem the most complicated are actually the easiest but the hardest thing is getting good at learning to EQ, especially if you don't have the right to the headphones because you can listen to the same track on your car stereo three sets of headphones your home stereo and it's going to sound different on everything so if you find a set of headphones or studio monitors that follow the Harmon curve or at least are really close to it generally you can get a mix that sounds good on everything Make your EQ work a little bit easier, for spoken word I try to eat you as little as possible sometimes less is more but like I said you're recording should be about 90 or 95% ready to publish when it comes to recording a speaking voice at least, now if you're recording drums or guitars or anything else I mean you can do some pretty interesting stuff with the effects. All right sorry I'm rambling on lol I like talking about audio stuff.

Thanks,, normally you're going to spend like 15 or 20 bucks just for one of those arms so when you look at it that way that's a crazy good deal on this little thing. Sounds nice overall and it comes with the arm

Can you recomend a good cheap 10ft USB c to C or A cable? Maybe Monoprice or Cable matters? Dont know anything about usb cables for audio. I'm trying to put it on the left side of my desk, but my PC is on the right. Just using it for CS2 and other games. Any downside to using longer USB cable?

I'm not sure if they sell these separately but rode manufacture some really nice microphones and if you get one of there USB / XLR microphones they come with a heck of a nice long USB cable, I would probably look into getting one of those, I can't guarantee they sell those separately but my guess is they probably do, you might be able to go to the rode microphones website or Amazon, Anker is a company that makes really high quality cables, they cost a little more than the cheap ones but the quality is top-notch, and you can get those on Amazon, ugreen Make some inexpensive cables that are very well-liked, generally you don't want a extremely long cable for a microphone, the further it has to go the higher chance of signal loss by the time it gets from the mic to the computer, but honestly I'd be more concerned about the quality of the cable as far as how long it's going to last and that does not going to short out on me, pretty much any inexpensive USB cable should work fine but a higher quality one will probably last you a lot longer especially if you're moving the microphone around a lot, Sun USB cables may be charging cables only so we just got to make sure it's got data transfer, you're only transferring sounds so you don't need one of those 4K or 8K cables but I would look up some cables from those brands right there. I've never owned a cables matter cable but I do know they make good stuff that seems to be very well-liked now when it comes to monoprice, I bought some of their speaker cable before that was supposed to be really good and it made my speaker sound really just harsh and brittle on the highs were just kind of bad, they must have been made out of some real low quality copper even though they claimed it was high quality copper so I'm not sure I would ever buy anything from monoprice again, I also got a couple of interconnect cables from them and they were so tight you couldn't fit them onto the back of the stereo and the little metal tabs would always snap off, I've not had good luck with their stuff so far, but some people seem to like that company

@@dannylightning-audio-reviews Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't mean like SUPER cheap, just didn't want to spend $20-$30 on a cable for a $35 mic. Lol! Audio loss was my real concern with the length. I'm hoping 10ft will be OK and not be too long. Most USB C cables are marketed for their charge speed and data transfer, but I wasn't sure how this would relate to audio. Bought a 3.0 with a 90 degree plug because the stock one stuck out and touched the boom. Probably not a problem, I just didn't like it. Thanks again for the quick response!

Data transfers what you're looking for, and it's a lot easier to transfer audio than it is audio and video so any good data transfer cable should do a really good job unless it's made out of really cheap copper,, if you buy a good name brand it should be made out of quality copper and if it's got a decent data transfer rate it should have no problem transferring audio only, I actually have one of my USB microphones plugged into a USB hub which you're not even supposed to do and that's plugged into a 10-ft USB extension cable and ran to the other side of the room and I don't notice any loss and audio quality compared to plugging it directly into the PC so all you're really looking for is a good data transfer cable made out of good materials and you should be fine at 10 ft. If you buy a real cheap there's a chance it could have low quality copper and then you have some signal loss where it could fall apart and short out on you but I would look for Anker, cables matter should be pretty good, I've never actually owned any other cables but I know a lot of people seem to like them and they're supposed to be very good quality
