    Still like that boat and motor combo? Considering throwing a 35 gtr on it....

    • @grandriverfowl8450

      Boat and motor is still going strong. Performance is good enough for us. If you aren’t willing to purchase a dedicated mud hull then I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this boat and motor combo.

      @@grandriverfowl8450 we ended up buying one. We have 35 GTR. Plows like crazy. Probably selling it to someone who runs an outboard.

    Is the motor is too heavy for 16/48? Any problems with porpoising?

      Depends on what brand of boat

    How does the boat do in mud and the shallows. I have the same boat and looking to put a mud motor on it. Just worried about the performance

    how did you like that rig and do you still have it ?

  • @wblock36

    I got a 15 ft waterfowler I put a 25 HDR Mudbuddy on it. Rear heavy big time. Boat nosed up off trailer on ramp 1st time out. Never hit water. 🤣 motor on pavement. Moving battery and gas tank up front plus weight in bow. Getting her out next week for test run.
    I should of just bought the 18 ft Excel and 50 HDR , smh 🤦‍♂️

      Or just have enough common sense to keep the winch hooked up until the boat it down in the water. Must be your first boat

    Hey guys , i have the same boat you guys have. I bought a pro drive 40 horse for the power unit.
    Your boat get up on plain well, mine does not. When i have big wave s on the lake 18 , 20 in the blades get the air it needs and launches ... a guess , mid 30 mph. On your mud buddy are you using a shorter length drive instead of a 20 inch to give the blades air?
    My boat is defenently rear heavy

    • @colinreue8447
      @colinreue8447 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you just need a smaller prop

    • @mattchristiansen7589
      @mattchristiansen7589 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the advice... i found that becouse the insulation was saturated with water the boat weighed might have gained up to 300 lbs . After 2 months of draining on the garage floor its up on plan with 2 guys and a chessie going 24 mph upstream. 👍

    • @grandriverfowl8450
      @grandriverfowl8450  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey. We have the standard shaft length. I believe it’s 32” shaft. It’s possible your 40 is heavier then our 35. Also make sure you play with the trim. Ensure half your prop is out of the water once you’re on plane. Weight distribution is also very important in a short boat like this. Good luck!

    • @mattchristiansen7589
      @mattchristiansen7589 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@grandriverfowl8450 thanks for the reply. We have the insulation dry and move the gas and battery to the front. With a 60 lbs chessie and a hundred lbs child plus hunting gear we are 24 mph on plane going up the muskegon river. Yes the pro drive 40 is about 60 lbs heavier

    • @grandriverfowl8450
