This is the first PSVR review for this game where it actually looks like the player has mastered the controls. You're looking like a real pro ninja Brian xD! Can't wait to get my hands on this game!
What’s Brian xd? Just watching this games have me nausea, I’ve only played 2 1/2 hours of vr and loving it but O can see what people mean about the nausea factor

As this game is 'On Sale' at the store, I knew I had to find the definitive review and PSVR Without Parole NEVER disappoints. I agree with the developers just letting folks play and "comfort features" be damned. I know... some folks get queasy in VR and don't actually need to be doing anything at the time to be sick, but we hardcore VR users love free movement. Teleportation, click turning and the like "takes you out of the experience".
Example: PSVR has a title called 'Endspace' that I LOVED on the Samsung VR headset. I even corresponded with the ONE MAN shop that developed it. It was awesome. With one stick you controlled your ship and the other controlled your 360 degree weapons module (think The Last Starfighter). I don't get motion sickness, nausea or vertigo easily... it was like an intense flight sim. And it was AMAZING! Played the short campaign dozens of times and then stopped using Samsung VR altogether. Fast forward and I saw it on the Playstation store and figured I would "show my support". The only thing the PSVR version shared was some base graphics and a name. Comfort controls aplenty ruined a classic because developers want everyone to buy/ play VR games when actually some folks shouldn't. A sad realization, but true. People that get motion sickness while riding in a car shouldn't be the group that VR developers are designing for.
An absolute must-have for PSVR owners. I cannot wait to unlock more mobility skills and get better at the melee weapons. The graphics, while I certainly noticed the laughably low resolution on some, didn't bother me at all once I got going. Great review Bryan!

In my opinion this is one of the best VR games ever created. It is a must have for any VR library.
This game is addictive. Had been looking at this game and decided to buy it last Nov, and boy was I stunned off the gameplay after learning the controller's. I can't stop playing this game.
Love it so far, can't wait till I've mastered the controls! Lol
I got this about a week ago... I am now a full on VR back flipping, wall running, bullet dodging, time slowing ninja. I’m surprised how much fun I’ve had with this game. My only real complaint I think is that I wish there was more content to it, although I am still having a ton of fun with what’s there, even if it does get a bit repetitive. I wish we could see some DLC for this game, or even a sequel to it down the road sometime. Overall well worth it if you grab it while it’s on sale for around $30 off the marketplace.

Thanks for the review Bryan! Everybody really seems to be digging this game, I'm actually holding off until August 13th to get the physical version (cover art looks awesome!) thru Best Buy with my GCU, I have enough of a backlog as it is! But it IS tempting to get the digital version now ... !

Holy crap I had no Idea this was coming to PSVR! I didn't think it was capable! This was the second ever VR game I ever played when I first tried it on my friends Vive and I lost so many hours in it. Instant buy (if you can handle the movement) I swear!!
I don't have it on PSVR but I did pick it up on the Quest. It's pretty much become my go to "unwind after work" VR game. So much fun to be had in this one.

Awesome Review, Bryan! This is one of my favorite games on my Rift that I always go back to time to time (so I'll pass on picking it up for my PSVR), but my buddy (who only has a PSVR) is loving it! He really enjoyed playing it on my Rift but was disappointed (at the time) when I told him that it wasn't available for the PSVR. Now he's in "Badass Ninja Heaven" and enjoying every minute of it...LOL. I'm really glad that the PSVR port turned out so well.
Another great review. Just bought it. Looks like a badass Cyberpunk ninja game. I look forward to carving fools up in style later tonight.

I must say I recently emailed Perp games about purchasing this game and I can’t begin to explain how helpful and attentive they are. You know me I always find a way to send multiple messages instead of simply asking all my questions in one. (Smh ADD?) and they got back to me rite away and walked me through the pay pal process. Great people and will get a lot of business from me.
Perp is pretty amazing. I've bought a bunch of games from them and since they don't have an actual NA store on their website, it gets a little confusing. Shout out to Andrea specifically who might be the best employee of any company ever. :D

I've been on the PS store every day this week, waiting for this to finally drop! I played my first couple hours last night and love it! The controls will take some getting used to, with the seemingly endless amount of customization and settings. Once I do though, I'll love it even more!!
My only complaint about this game this far, is the sound effects. Really, just one... the sword! Outside of the light saber sword, there is ZERO sound effects for swinging the sword?? Simply adding a "swoosh" when you swing it around would of made a world of a difference... it's not a huge problem, by any means, but something that just slightly breaks immersion for me.
Other than that, I'm a badass in training!! 😂

I can tell I already love the skill system. It feels rewarding when a game has you start off with limited abilities and moves and you not only get stronger and faster by the end but the controls start to become fluent. But yeah, this game seems expensive considering a con is a short campaign that also looks a bit repetitive when it comes to fighting the same type of enemies. I'll pick it up when it's on sale or if there would be a pvp update which I think would be an absolute blast
The level and art style design reminds me of Shinobi on PS2, and I dig that. I loved that game to death

Nice review Bryan, my copy arrived a week before release and I still haven’t had chance to sit down with it properly, did you have any issues trying to select options in the menu screens?
No problems at all with the menu screens - other than some of the options being a "hey lets turn this on and see what it does" kind of experiment lol. Why - was the menu screen giving you trouble?
PSVR Without Parole ok, thanks Bryan, yeah I found options weren’t always selecting, I’ll take another look at my setup, I have moved things around, so maybe I just need to recalibrate everything, just wanted to check if you’d experienced any issues first

PC version has no issues... I can even run it on vive from my laptop. On steam I got it for like £13~ and its really satisfying.
I just got this for $11.99. It’s downloading now and I can’t wait to try it. It definitely didn’t seem worth full price to me so when it dropped in price I immediately bought it
This truly looks like a next gen game. Props to the developers, if you think about it, they risked a lot in making this when you consider the amount of people who get motion sickness just from walking around in traditional fps games. I couldn't applaud them enough.

Oof. I don't know what I'd do if I suffered from motion sickness. Sorry to hear that.
It's not too bad, lots of comfort options, I had to turn off flipping because it was a little disorienting.
Certainly looks very cool. I like the look of the movement options. If anything though it makes me yearn for a true ninja experience. A Tenchu VR game would be very nice indeed!

It would be sick if this game had a post - level replay feature, like a racing game, where you could watch yourself moking fools out in 3rd person.
I really enjoyed the game. However, the ps move seriously needs a joystick that we can use to freely look at any direction we want instead of just pressing triangle to look right, left, front and behind.
as a mid-thirties gamer, I think this is one of the best action games ever made - PERIOD. It's not only uncompromised by being in VR - unlike Raw Data for example - but is right where it belongs with its action (albeit with the 3DRudder as a necessity). This feels like the future of action games.
It's too short, but what's here is polished and isn't extended by reusing most of its environments for more waves of enemies and the areas are well-made for action!
I'm reminded of Xbox's Ninja Gaiden as the first time the genre took this kind of leap. It's genuinely challenging and takes strategy and everything manages to work.
I gotta play this one standing up for the full effect so it's yet another game the 3dRudder collects dust during. But the action - and freedom of movement - is incredible. Kinda reminds me of stringing tricks together (with manuals of course.) Amazing game. :D
@@WithoutParole Hm I only need to stand in games where I have to do real-life ducking and dodging, which you don't do in this game. I might get a bit dizzy standing. But yeah it often adds to the effect.
It kind of does feel like Tony Hawk, huh? Like jumping and wall-running and seeing who you can slash and shoot with a bunch of moves strung elegantly together. ;) I beat the game on normal already rather easily - where's this "epilogue" by the way? - but I know I'm a LONG way from mastering this game.
I NEED A SEQUEL!!!! Where is the sequel? I want more. ;) Man the core game is just an amazing modern game design achievements - in my top 5 PSVR for sure.
I have equal hours probably between this and Superhot. Superhot's endless mode is an endlessly grindable high score experience, I've peaked so far at 627 kills on Penthouse. Sairento offers a lot of what I love about Superhot but adds so much mobility... In fact I'd say the mobility in this game is absolutely miles above every VR game that uses the moves. I really sincerely wish that there were better action games on the VR... Fast and fluid combat is perfectly achievable I hope we see more of it. Or a Sairento 2
Looks pretty cool but it also looks like there's very little variety in mission and enemy types.
Hey Dan. They crazy thing is that - although you're 100% correct - it's not something you ever think about while you're playing. For me Sairento is about thinking 2 or 3 steps ahead, looking at the environment and planning out your next jump, wall run, or flip to take down the enemies in the best way possible. So even though you're basically always doing the same thing, you're constantly adding to your abilities in-game, and as a player getting better at executing them. :D
Yeah the core gameplay seems hella fun because of the way you can move around and ninja through everything like a total badass, but I want to jump on top of a giant robot and slice it in half or jump into a helicopter and stab the pilot in the head then jump out before it crashes. Lol it just seems like it has the potential for so much more.

Yes. It has more content and runs better. Quest version is bare bones in comparison.

The crashes aren't just limited to multiplayer - I've not managed to play MP (due to no players) but it's crashed several times regardless. One sure fire way to make it crash is to play the challenge where you do endless missions... unitl they fix the crash(es) that mode is kind of pointless (unless you suck and don't last many missions lol)
Great game though - it's a 1 IMO

How does it control without the Rudder? Is it like Skyrim? (The best control option to date imo)
Yup, you can totally use Skyrim style controls. And the 3dRudder is pretty much pointless with Sairento since you’re almost never running on the ground anyway and playing standing is way more fun. :D
Yeah it's a problem. I had the same issue with Immortal Legacy and the 3dRudder - and Davestation had the same problem with Space Junkies and the 3dRudder - and neither of us have ever experienced motion sickness in VR before. Their claims of "eliminating motion sickness" are obviously not universal.
The minus points are too big of a factor for me to buy, unless it's on sale. Weak and unimpressive compaign, missing very important options such as PvE and PvP.. these two points alone are a huge minus for me. Thank you for this review, it helped me make my decision. Let's not forget that a good review is there for people to be informed so they can make decisions that benefits them. Reviews are not there to hype you up, like some kind of marketing scheme.

Started playing this yesterday as my first game using 3dRudder. Is that how you played (Dual Move with 3dRudder)?
No need for the 3dRudder with Sairento since you're almost never on the ground (especially once you get really good.)
The best way to play is with dual Move controllers - way more immersive and way more fun! :D
@@WithoutParole Oh really? Interesting perspective cause I thought its the 3dRudder allowing the game to have such fast motion in VR.
Well second game I got supporting 3dRudder is called Immoral Legacy. It doesn't have the Ninja hopping around of Sairento so being able to control strafing, moving, turning with the 3dRudder makes for good use of 3dRudder.
I'm glad you're enjoying it! My 3dRudder is collecting dust because I'd rather play standing, but that's just me. From what I've been told you'll have plenty of amazing reasons to use your 3dRudder in the coming months!
@@WithoutParole While I also prefer to play standing, I dislike lack of analog sticks to control movement on Dual Move control schemes more. The 3dRudder is both a new experience and seems to be a viable way to make up lack of analog stick on the Move Controllers.
So I got an arm-less chair and making the most of it with the only issue being the 3dRudder slipping out of optimal position sometimes for which there is supposedly a Ground Gripper coming to market soon.
Looks like Warframe but for PSVR, hope they add the PvE content down the line! Would definitely get it if they add more PvE/Co-op

Apartly there is a bug when selecting the menus. If you dont click trigger fast enough wont get into the menus. It's going to be patched

Question, is there any sort of post game horde mode, similar to Superhot's Endless or Killing Floor's horde mode? And how hard is the hardest difficulty? I beat Superhot on Hardcore, which according to the trophy it's .6% ultra rare so I guess I'm good with my body. Game looks really cool, maybe cooler than Superhot. But I dont like the idea of campaign only, especially if it's short and 40$. Any form of endless mode or should I wait for a sale
there is an endless single map and endless gauntlet mode, survive as long as you can forever. Hardest difficulty is one hit and your dead so thats pretty damn hard
@@ThePreacherPlays fucken sweet. I'm downloading it right now. 6 GB left! 1 hit death? Oof. I mean Superhots the same way but you can take that game as slow as you want. I'm pretty excited to try this, havent touched my VR much since I beat Blood and Truth. And Blood and Truth wasn't that great, either. I beat the game pretty quick and there was no hard mode >:( unless I have to jump through several hoops to get it, anyway. On Normal it was piss easy.

Anyone having issues selecting menus? I feel like I sometimes have to click multiple times to get a menu tap to select.
I've heard that from at least one other person but no, I never experienced that problem myself.

Sairento requires two Move controllers, so that's a definite yes! :D
I'm having trouble with this game. The bullet time end in literally one second. So it doesn't seem very effective. I only got to play it for about 30 minutes so far, hopefully it'll get better the more I play.
Not only can you keep pressing the button to use bullet time over and over, but it's also upgradeable (like everything else in the game.) Keep an eye out for Relics that improve your bullet time and use it in conjunction with your slow motion flips to make the most out of your airtime. :D

I got this game on the quest and yes I know it has a lot of cut content but they adding more features in the future. I just can't imagine playing this game on the psvr been tethered would just take a lot of the fun out of it for me
After playing the Quest I can see how it's hard to go back to PSVR from that perspective (ie. wires) - but after playing PSVR for almost 3 years now I'm just used to it. But I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what Sony does next gen. :D
@@WithoutParole I'm a day1 psvr owner and i love it and I love it for what it is it's obviously far more capable than the quest. But I just love the easy pick up and play aspects of the quest it's a great piece of hardware
No explanations needed. An hour after I tried the Quest for the first time I knew I needed one of my own. It's pretty slick! :D

The 3dRudder doesn't make a lot of sense with Sairento. You're on the ground so infrequently and playing standing up is way more fun - so yes I tried it and it's not better or worse than any other game (ie. I don't recommend it.) :D
Can you tell us the settings you changed to play or have you kept it on the normal settings
Luca there are *so many settings* and I experimented with a lot of them, turning them on and off that I’m not even sure what the defaults are anymore. The most important thing is to turn the ability to do flips on - it sucks that it’s off by default but I guess I can understand why. :D

In the options menu you have to enable flips. Then when you're in midair, raise both Move controllers above your head! :D

It has coop but not pve? So what exactly are we getting in the multiplayer? Isnt coop mean pve?
Sorry, to clarify it's not missing PvE, It's missing PvP and *PvE Options* - meaning there is no PvP at all and as far as PvE is concerned there's only an option for 2 players, whereas the PCVR version has at least 4 (if not more)

With the current sale of $15 just grab it - don't wait for the re-review. The graphics/story aren't anything to write home about but the game (especially the locomotion system) is really over-the-top. Doing a backflip in slow motion and pulling off a headshot while you're upside down is awesome. :D

How the hell do you even get started. Cannot get a level or tutorial level going or even options? How do you even get started? Tried every button and cannot get anywhere. Cam jump, etc and turn inside the building, but cannot select any level difficulty etc. Out of my hand is the pointer. Can turn walk teleport but not select anything on the menu.
I'm not sure what's happening over there Dennis but you're running into an issue I haven't seen. Make sure your Boost Mode and Sumpersampling is off in the PS4 Settings (if you're using the Pro) and reset your console. And if you find a solution, post it here so we can help anyone else who also runs into this problem.

How do you flip
Make sure flips are enabled on your options screen. Then when you're mid jump, just raise both Move controllers above your head! :D

The first time you do a flip it'll throw you for a loop whether you get motion sick or not. But no, I'm not prone to motion sickness and Sairento VR didn't change that. :D
Where are the swords?!! On pc you can duel wield and block bullets!!
Yup, you can do that here too! Just one of the many weapon options. :D

The 3dRudder. It's a disc that you rest your feet on and use it as a giant analog stick to move around.
And it's a total waste of money.

this is not it for me still its to expensive if it was on discount at around that 15-20$ i might pick it up but as for it full price its just not worth it in my opnion , what im waiting for is a banger game like Far Point for example a game with insane visuals - graphics - sounds etc all those games that coming out are cool but none of them is up there for me
That's understandable Haitham - not every game is going to be for everyone. Luckily there are a few surprises coming down the virtual pipe that will hopefully be what you're looking for. :D

I was curious who'd make that outrageous claim first lol. DMC2 is okay and if any other developer released it with different characters as a different game people would have loved it. But DMC1 and 3 were just *so good* that DMC2 just doesn't compare.

gameplay is more futuristic than any FPS that currently exists, but graphics are a tad dated but look great in the headset.
