Spur is one of the most handsome ponies I've seen in a very long time. The fact he can't see out of that left eye and yet he remains so calm is a testament to his whole character. I love this lil man (and I do not like ponies in general) he's been well trained for sure.

My dad brought me home a $23 pony when I was 8. She was blind in one eye. She was my best friend for 5 years. Other than stubborn, I saw no effects from the blind eye. Spur is an awesome pony and will still be great if his eye doesn’t heal. Good luck!
I wouldnt worry either. You can train him to ride on loose reigns so he can freely look around to compensate

It's true, but you never know why horses get into bad situations. This pony must have been loved in his life, and we get too quick to judge. Sometimes people get sick or other terrible things happen. I believe helping those people out would be kinder to horses and humans in the long run.
Times are hard and money is in short supply for some people. He was well fed but medical and shoeing must have been too much for the owner. I pray that if this was the case, the last owner sees better days.
@@juneramirez8580 there was an elderly woman in up state NY. The farm was alongside a highway. Her husband died, snow caced in half the barn. She had 1 old horse. She fed and groomed him daily. He stood by the barn and not inside. So every "concerned" person flying by in their car would call the aspca on her. The woman just wanted the two of them to live out the rest of life in peace. The officer would try to tell these "concerned" people how the horse was fine but go so sick of all the concern so he gathered some helpers, built a run in shed for the horse that he never used, but at least the complaints stopped for him and the owner.
@@ratherbwithhorses You are a kind hearted person and you see life from all sides. It is easy to judge other people before we know facts. I see it in comments on a number of farm type videos. Concerned people have their heart in the right place, they just don't have the facts. They speak on subjects they really know nothing about. I am so thankful people came together to fix a problem in your story EVEN when there was really no problem. It just goes to show that humanity is not totally lost.
I had a horse blind in one eye in the 90s. She was the sweetest horse ever! Loved kids! Super gentle!
I hope you found a good home for Spur. He seems to have such a sweet nature. Thank you for all you do for these horses.
Still after not having a rider in a while and being blind in one eye he was very cooperative and trusted your lead. He will make someone a great addition to their barn. He has a very calm and gentle nature about him. I think the first person to bond with him will have a champion for life.
Spur IS beautiful, it’s a shame that he was neglected, TY for saving him and nursing him back to health, hopefully his left eye sight can be restored.
Having sight in only one eye should not keep anyone from owning this great pony. I have a one eyed TWH saved from a kill lot and he has certainly proved to be both kind and a good trail buddy. Just respect his blind side and you will gain his trust.

Kill lots are just horrific and no living being deserves to suffer. Still I find it extra sad in situations like when TWH get used up in the Big Lick show ring for 8 yrs or so and in a couple years wind up at auctions and kill lots.
All of these precious beings give and give and certain humans just take, take and take.... even to the point of blood money.
You really can tell how a person truly is by how they treat the living beings around them.
@@TruthArrowsI’m just here and know nothing about horses, but love and respect them. One day on FB a lady was videoing from one of those horse things and she was all kinds of upset. There was a horse from the Amish with real messed up feet, and they wanted too much to buy him. I wanted her to have the chance to save him so I sent $100. I followed her for awhile, and the one foot was requiring more and more money. I sent another 100, then I don’t know what happened. Covid I guess. I admire y’all and your love and care of these glorious animals.

Warm the med in your pocket to body temp before you put it in his eye. It won’t irritate the eye that way and he won’t jump or evade it going forward. Glad you saved him!

I was actually off work yesterday and watched the opening video. He is actually a really good pony. You can tell by his ears he was never stressed anytime at y'all while y'all were loading him or even saddling or riding him. Even blind in that eye he's still a solid pony.

You can tell he feels better being taken care of..He runs like he is free...I bet there is someone that will want him with his disability, maybe they can relate to it..He sure is beautiful.

Alan, I can’t believe the difference in Spurs hoofs now that they have been trimmed, seeing him again he looked like a different pony. I’m sure this pony will make a child an awesome Christmas present and friend for life . He definitely found his way to the right family to take that extra care of him until he is well enough to move on. Bless you all for your care, love and attention, not just on this pony but all the horses, pony’s and Donkey’s that pass through the farm on their way to there forever homes.

We had a horse that was blind in one eye for many years. She adapted amazingly well. We just always talked to her if we were coming up on her blind side.

As a child we had a mini Shetland who was blind in one eye also was a stud one of the best pony we had for riding just speak when coming up on that side first he seems great

I rode a horse once, named Dandy, he was blind in one also his right side. He was a great horse because he let me ride him bareback and without any reins, my only cue was my legs and arms around his neck, but he seemed to know what I wanted and did it. Once he got too close to a barbed wire enclosure, and it tore a hole in my right knee. It wasn’t his fault, but my own, because I wasn’t paying attention either to him nor inside the fenced area. Lesson learned….his to me…I was just having fun being on his back without a saddle or reins, and loving it….we actually communicated….and I won’t forget it….lol…👍❤️

What an amazing pony. So glad you use a bit without shanks!!! Hope his eye gets better But many years ago my uncle rescued a Tennessee Walker who was partially blind in one eye that was fine to ride as long as the farm Collie was on that side 😊

Let's be honest, your skill with showing him that you're trustworthy, in a language he understands, is a very important factor here. Spur seems like a very good judge of character. He also seems like if he didn't trust your intentions, he might be willing to stand his ground. He's a good soul.
You have given him the joy of movement, good nutrition and caring Veterinary consultations towards understanding his medical status. He enjoys being under saddle, and listens with enthusiasm! It fills my heart with joy to see him running out in the field! Thank you for helping Spur!💜💜💜

What a,great little pony Spur turns out to be. He looked so happy once his awful feet had been trimmed by the farrier. If they can get his sore eye treated quickly, his life will be transformed. Then he can have a great life. Xx

He probably WAS wild at the auction. If he's never been through an auction before he was probably scared out of his mind. Poor guy. He is sooo adorable and will make someone a great pony I bet. I'm SOOOOOO glad you all got him instead of some kill buyer. P.S. I still think Johnnie would look cute riding this pony lol. Although Blake did an awesome job riding him :)
