  • Setting up the menu's and Custom Functions of the Canon 1D MKIII camera. Highly technical and boring except for owners of the Canon 1D MKIII who want some insight to setting up this camera. Video is placed on the web site at www.abetterbouncecard.com

    Back when Peter filmed using a LEGO sensor. Amazing that in 2023 the 1D Mk3 is $250 camera

    Spot meter linked to AF point option its a useful feature, available 13 years ago and not available many modern camera. 😬 One step ahead, two behind sometimes.

    Having just bought a 1d mk3 for starting out in sports photography this video has helped me understand the camera massively. Just setting the iso to be almost like auto is a great help. Thank you.

    Ya know...I was like..."this is boring. I'm not going to watch all 49 minutes of this. I don't even have a 1D MkIII." But...I noticed that I have some of these on the 60D that I got a whole 2 years ago or so. And...it helped! Thank you! Also, if I were to have one criticism, it would be to understand that you are on a video with a browsing slider, so you don't need to repeat nearly as often.

    Oh, I remember alright! and that's another reason for my question since you got it when it first came out, so far very happy with it up to 1600 ISO, maybe mine was manufactured after Canon was able to take care of the mirror problem, etc or issues on mine were solved after the re-call who knows?, bought it from a reputable camera store, even happier with it than with my 7D Mark II in terms of "some aspects", (maybe I am still old school) No doubt Canon Series 1D is their flagship, still my 5DIIIs blow it out of the water. BTW
    I am from Miami also.
    Thanks for you time & chat

    Thanks. I just got this camera and certain things about it are confusing with the AF and tracking. I'm no pro so I guess maybe a step too far for me but I intend to use it till it dies. That could be a while, I seen a guy on a forum say he averaged 2400 shots a day for 4 or 5 years and shutter was original

    Thank you so much for responding so quickly. I've had this camera for quite some time and never new about that feature.
    Is there a procedure necessary to "make a note"
    Might you advise me as where I can have my camera serviced. I contacted Canon and they no longer provide service for this model camera.

    LOL! first off thabks for taking the time to reply, I am a hard core fan of your videos.
    That was the reason of my question.
    I own two 5D Mark III with grip and all but beleive it or not I always wanted a 1D III so better late than ever.
    in a nutshell after having an array if gear, in a scale from 1-10 how would you rate the Canon 1D MarkIII w/o comparing it to the newer technology of today.
    Thanks

      +Julio Sanchez Believe it or not, Canon finally got the camera to work really well after the internet firestorm that spread like wild fire. It did quite a while though - way too long for professionals to wait for. If you get one with all the fixes in place (don't remember what they were, but there were quite a few), you will have a dang nice camera. This is without the current tech of the day in the mix.

    Hey Peter great reviews and tutorials, do you still own a 1D Mark III?

    • @PeterGregg
      @PeterGregg  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Julio Sanchez Oh my gosh, that was long long ago. I moved on from that camera and changed to a Nikon D3, then moved from that to the D3X, then sold that and went to the D800E. I also added Canon back into the picture and bought a 1D Mark IV and updated that eventually to 1DX. The 1Dx is now sold and I plan on getting the 1DX Mark II or possible wait for the 5D Mark IV - haven't decided yet. I have a lot of Canon and Nikon glass and keep both systems alive. The Canon 1D3 was the reason for my first introduction to a Nikon camera. Before that, I had only Canon. But the focusing problem of that day caused me to look outside of Canon for the first time. The Nikon was spot on and i always thank Canon for introducing me to Nikon lol. But Canon is solid now, so I am not complaining. Before I would buy a 1D3, I would suggest a Panasonic GH4. But that is a whole new conversation.

    I just watched your video on the Canon 1D Mklll . I have the Canon EOS 1 Ds Mark lll
    Are they one in the same? My camera has a microphone symbol next to the third button to the right. Does that mean it's capable of video? If anyone knows I'd appreciate some info. Thanks

      Alicia Anderson Typically? Typically shooting what exactly???? I’d say set yours to P for Professional and you’re good to go.

    a wonderful body. I would like to ask you a question ... on this camera how do you see a nice 24 mm 1.4?

  • @Bongo2k
    @Bongo2k 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's all well and good sharing your settings but if you put a crap lens on any camera you get crap pictures. You could have your settings set to whatever you want and you will still get crap pictures cause of your crap lens...
