Patty Duke was an absolutely brilliant actress and also a tireless advocate for mental health awareness. She also had a great sense of humor!

As a fan of the late Patty Duke, and as a former victim of those quackery pseudomedical industries, unfortunately she was sadly deceived by the pseudomedical quackery industries known as psychology/psychiatry/so-called “mental health”/so-called “mental therapy” industries. In reality, “Mental Illness” (as in the realm we are talking, suicide, self-destructive behavior) is a symptom of a “debased mind” (Romans 1:28). When someone is so utterly given over to wickedness, hopelessness, and rejection of Christ that they kill themselves (as masochistic behavior is noted as demonic in Scripture, Mark 5:2-5; Ephesians 5:29 “no one ever hated his own flesh”), such behavior reveals there is no faith in Christ. God has made Himself very clear: “the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10), the “unbelieving” go to the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8). The Bible is not a lie.

What we learned in this episode. Platform shoes were invented in 1972. Larry says Patty is wearing those new platform shoes.

That "Neely O'Hara"! She had starred in her own show, who played a double role, one from Brooklyn Heights, the other from England.

Patty was only 26 at the airdate, and I love the accent she used to fool the panel. The girl born in Manhattan, but raised in Queens had as much talent as anyone in Hollywood! She acted on Broadway, the Silver Screen, the small screen, and had a decent singing voice, plus she was elected president of the Screen Actors Guild (1985-88)! She looked so good in this 1972 WML? episode, but now it is only 1 month short of 50 years! She married John Astin the previous Aug. 5, and as another poster mentioned, she was pregnant with (now actor) Mackenzie, born the next May 12 (1973). So, she was at least 4 months along, barely showing. If that poster hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have guessed, although seeing her when she walks toward Larry, she does seem "more there" than usual. Patty and John divorced in 1985. She married for the last time in 1986, to a drill sergeant who worked with her as a consultant on "A Time To Triumph" They stayed married for 30 years, until she had to go on Mar. 29, 2016, at only 69.
