- Taken from the Australian NTSC DVD set, the episode "Fake Bro" with the rarely seen "This episode is brought to you from Dominos Pizza. Nobody delivers better!"" bumper, right after the opening plumber rap theme song. This is the full live-action portion, minus the commercial bumpers, which are not included on this DVD set. The only change I made, was removing the cartoon.

they embodied mario and luigi so well, its amazing how many skits these guys did and how each time they brought a little more back story and character traits to the otherwise emotionless video game characters, and the amount of relevant celebs they got to be in the skits with them was really impressive at the time.

Pro wrestler/manager Captain Lou Albano did a great job bringing Mario to life. I was too old to watch this show, but seeing these scenes tells me how good an actor Albano was.

Because of this show I grew up believing Mario and Luigi were actually a pair of old plumbers. I was very disappointed when Nintendo said that Mario was 24 - 25 years old.

I like how Luigi was the smarter, more clever of the two in these live action skits whereas Mario was kinda dumb and really gullible. It's a shame they made him such a coward in the cartoon portions.

Well, the Cartoon portions are more based on the actual game series, where Luigi is portrayed as a coward. The live action scenes are more of a separate story where the two run a family plumbing business, so there’s more creative freedom there.

It’s crazy to think that, prior to 1996, Mario and Luigi sounded and acted like 1st generation Italian Americans from Brooklyn. Charles Martinet will always be GOATED, but I think I prefer the Brooklyn heavy accent! 😅

1. No. It's the same as the US release, other than color. Working with Dylan of SMBSS Restored, with the Australian version as base, we corrected the speed, removed the fades, added all the Zelda parts and the original audio, and I created bumpers. He uploaded this corrected version to his channel, check it out, if you haven't.
2. The Unzappables (and the one that had Mario Monster Mash) are missing from the set completly, for a total of 50 out of 52 non-Zelda episodes. The other 3, however, do have the live action. No episodes contain commercial bumpers or cover songs.

I am not an American and Canadian, but the message saying 'Australian NTSC DVD' feels impractical to me.
Australia, like India, New Zealand, Ireland, the [Brexit] United Kingdom, and the rest of Europe plus the Nordic countries, Malta, and Cyprus, all use PAL/Phase alternating line for their television sets. Mainly used for bulky TVs circa 1980s to late 2000s.
The only ones who utilise NTSC/National Television Standards Committee for TVs are Japan, [the Republic of] South Korea, the non-UN [member] Taiwan aka Republic of China, Hong Kong, the USA, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, and Brazil...
Japan and South Korea uses NTSC because two of them are profoundly, yet geographically close, hence approximate, to the US and Canada than the whole European continent, plus Brexit Britain and EU Ireland, and even Australia/NZ, as the kangaroo and kiwi bird countries are in the southern part of the Pacific, while Japan and the Republic of Korea, so do the US and Canada, are in the northern part of the Pacific Ocean as well.
Thus not to mention, Japan and the ROK/South Korea are deeply considered to be as allies to the United States [of America] in Asia-Pacific...
specific australian dvd sets use ntsc. it makes sense for this show, as it was initially produced in 60i. as most television sets in pal countries, especially modern tvs, can display both pal and ntsc, it's not much of an issue now.
Do you Rember the dorky short where they showed there 3rd Mario brother (it also had dominoes in it) and if he was he should've wore a white hat to tie in to the Italian flag red green and white not in that order (and since you call doctors dr last name and miamoto has finally buckled down and said Mario and Luigi's last name is Mario doctor Mario is Mario and Luigi's (of the games) peartro

Following up on this: After some quick googling, I actually found two Super Mario Bros. Super Show DVDs released in Australia by Beyond Home Entertainment, and they are indeed in NTSC according to DVD Orchard:

So really weird that they chose to do some sets in NTSC... but interesting to know about. And I guess it will work fine for customers as long as this disclaimer on DVD Orchard is correct:
"NOTE: In order to watch this programme in its intended form both your player and TV will need to be NTSC compatible.
All DVD Players/PSP's sold in Australia to date are NTSC compatible - just check the SYSTEM settings on your TV."
Yeah. It's the top one. It's region free. The set includes all Mario (not Zelda) episodes, cartoons with live action, except George Washington and Mario Monster Mash. None include any commercial bumpers.
Lots of older DVDs of this variety were released as NTSC in Australia, for whatever reason. I have old Dragonball DVDs and one of Pokémon The First Movie that I bought in Victoria that are both NTSC.
My friend, my brother and I got food poisoning from Domino's Pizza. ALL OF US WITHIN THE VERY NEXT MORNING! Each of us were constantly hogging the bathroom -- an endless battle with the most terrifying battle cries ever conceived by a human being.
