GUY MARTIN visits REPerformance for a brew - EXCLUSIVE interview!!

- Last week, we were lucky to have the legend that is Guy Martin pop into REPerformance for a brew. He'd taken a break from filming nearby to see what we were up to in the engine build room and had lots of questions about our V10 and McLaren builds.
He really knows his stuff and it was a pleasure to chat with him for over an hour, about everything from engines, to world-record attempts, and, of course, Motorcycle racing (a bit of a sore subject given the current state of Ricky's arm!)
In fact, we got so much footage that we'll be uploading a part 2 and maybe even a part 3!

All that I can say about this video is that both Guy and our man from RE performance seem to be in their element here, both of their knowledge is overwhelming.
I’d absolutely love to sit and just take in their knowledge and ask questions about anything that I’m not familiar with.

I watched this in mortal fascination. Guy has been playing dumb. Our engine guy with the dodgy arm, genius. Everything he said made perfect sense and I only understood 10% of it.
The big factor (from my understanding) with having injectors further away from the valve is charge cooling but as ever its a compromise with everything else which needs to be achieved like emissions, fuel economy, driveability, environmental tolerance etc. As you say though inlet tract design becomes crucial the further away the injector goes, factor in partial throttle operation & you start to see where staged injectors in different locations begin to appeal. The DI stuff is all about emissions really, no sane person would go down that route unless you really have to! Very interesting vid.

DI is for emmision. But they coke up as we know. The later motors with the secondary port injection are much better. Great to see guy at your place.

As a Scania man Guy would know all about turbo compounding as Scania fitted it to the 6 cylinder engines. So they had one turbo used as normal and a 2nd turbo driving through gears to the rear of the crankshaft.
Ask me how I know ... (Scania tech)

Awesome, kept going back to listen again. Makes sense that someone is having a go at the Mclaren engines, they have been keeping all the info and parts too close for too long.

I wish I could go back in time, and become a mechanic. I was made to believe that I couldn't do anything in school, and I believed it.
Now I own an Audi A4 B7, S-Line, and I love it.
It's 2006 but it's in very good condition.
I have fixed a few things on it, but I wish I could dismantle it and get it like new.
I would really love to be hired by somebody, to learn from them.
But somebody who has standards of perfection, not some nakka with some silicone and an angle grinder.
Such a fascinating guy and a total legend!

Guy Martin is better than Marquez all day long being a TT racer in my opinion it’s a totally different kind of bravery.Plus guy builds engines.Marquez is a prick I wouldn’t even speak of him.

Without being rude you are in a different class of viewer as you don’t run cars without exhausts and tyre burning off up the road but unfortunately that’s what gets the viewers who are just gear knobs. Geeky attention to detail is fascinating to a few but not for the majority. If you’d done that skyline and then gone out blasting doughnuts you would have seen a huge improvement in your viewing also people are watching to see if there’s another car being given away. Good luck and please stop procrastinating and build that …….. noble

Revisiting this after a year and mate so inspiring! Have obviously seen all the insanely ridiculous docs with Guy and he is truly one of a kind but such a pure petrol at the same time. Liked how he dropped Norris engines in there and their 4g63 compound development. That would be a great video subject- this setup tuned with Syvecs and MoTec- Absolutely brilliant and Thank you!

@@REPerformanceUK hi im not sure if this is of interest or if it would create enough financial reward for your business but another channel I watch has hit a bit of a brick wall in regards to intake temperature on the AUDI RS5 , apparently is a common problem with little or no remedy .
I will post a link to the video below this comment and that will explain the issue better than I can .
If you have a fix in mind great stuff if not I don't own one so im ok 😂😂😂 .

Not a chance! My BMW S1000RR does a quarter mile in high 9's, I've got little RS3's in the 8's.
@@REPerformanceUK Thanks for your reply, can I ask how much does it costs to get those rs3 to do that? Compared to the cost of a turbo fitted to let's say a busa? I've yet to come across a car on the road that can hang with my 1k .... and many have tried. I stand by my comment, cars are shite, which is why a car tuner still rides a bike!!
