Thank you for all you do. 100% on finding something one can do daily , even during flare days. Grateful my maternal grandmother taught me simple stretches by example. Every morning she had a bed routine and out of bed routine, with small changes every other day. She didn't tell me why she did this, later learned she's been diagnosed with "scoliosis" back in the 50's, but based on her symptoms, struggles, and kyphosis my rheumatologist believe she actually had AS, but wouldn't have been diagnosed on a black woman back then. Oddly, my paternal grandmother had the same diagnosis and visible kyphosis, never saw her stand straight my entire life. No surprise I'm almost 6 years into my AS diagnosis. I stay active and convert my simple house chores into deep stretch sessions.
Avoiding over stretching is key. I didn't learn this until I caused significant SI joint discomfort and tore my gluteal muscles. Lesson learned not to over stretch your SI joint with AS.
I do the same. My doctor says that I am her most difficult patient with AS, but that I am the healthiest. I'm doing everything I can, except conventional medicine. They make you feel better while you're taking them, and when you stop, you feel 10 times worse. That's what my doctor says. Thank you for your support and compassion! ❤
I once read "If I can, I do." concerning how much to move during a flare. That always stuck with me and I try to adopt that mindset. I started Pilates at the beginning of the year and the more I do it, the more I love it. I can decide how intense I want to go every day.
Have you been able to manage flares and pain with diet as well im trying so hard to stay off the medications due to horrific reactions but cant seem to find the right food regimine to help with my inflammation
@@AlexLevineFitness mate, please, please, please get on biologics. Don't let this disease permanently wreck you. Biologics changed my life overnight and I train harder than ever with no pain now. Lifting/strength/circuit training 5x a week. Before biologics I could hardly walk.
