Sam's Club greeter who's had an 'absolutely terrible' year is speechless when Secret Santa shows up

- A Secret Santa is back and this Christmas is bigger than ever!
The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local man gift more than $500,000 this holiday season. A lot more. Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and hopes to help as many individuals in our community as he can.
Robert works at the Idaho Falls Sam’s Club. You've probably seen him scanning receipts as customers leave the club. He is extremely friendly and is always smiling.
Robert is from New Zealand and moved to the United States to be closer to his wife's family. He was working at the Logan, Utah Sam’s Club and was named “Friendliest Associate of the Year” because of his outgoing attitude.
Robert moved to Idaho Falls after his wife, Tammy, became seriously ill and needed constant care. Tammy’s sister volunteered to help with Tammy's care but soon after they moved here, the sister was diagnosed with a brain tumor so Robert and his wife became her caretaker.
Because Tammy and her sister were unable to work, Robert struggled to make ends meet but he continued to work with a positive attitude and a smile on his face every day. Tammy’s sister recently found out that the tumor has come back.
About four months ago, Robert and Tammy were robbed at gunpoint and beaten up while visiting family members in another state. Soon after that incident, they were both diagnosed with COVID-19.
Secret Santa heard about Robert's story and asked the East Idaho News elves to go surprise him on his first day back at work following his coronavirus battle. Watch the video above as we surprised him at the Sam's Club door!
I’ve worked with Robert for a few years now, and he is one of the nicest most selfless people I have ever met. I can’t get within 10 feet of him without him smiling and saying hello! Absolutely deserved and I’m so happy for him!!

After reading the whole story in the description, I'm heartbroken for this man and his wife. What a horrid year indeed. At his age, i wish he didn't have to work anymore but this gift is the best thing that could have happened to ease his burden.

500,000 $ is not chump change but the ultra rich spend that on a boat bless this man for giving it away! he has to be a lottery winner who invested it correctly or one hell of a successful guy yet still nice and generous and sadly not many of those exist! people with this kinda money give to get a tax write off but this man is making sure it helps people directly and not going to the "chairmen of the foundations " salary! id love to do this one day shows what good you can do for many instead of buying yourself something you dont need !

Blown away!!! Yes! He literally was almost knocked over. His eyes. And his eyes even when he got the gift cards after the big check. He was just as grateful with those as the paid rent.

I'm over here literally clapping softly for him as Nate explains everything, and starts walking in. It has a lot to do with loving some of our own Sam's Club employees from the Manager down. It's THE cleanest place to shop for my Korean mom, who's 85. Everyone who meets her, remembers her and me, and loves her/us. As I show love and encouragement to them. They also help brighten her day, because we basically live in isolation. It is a miraculously beautiful one too.
Go see when this is over. Some of us will be in need of some other "goodness" fix, right?
