    Been in therapy for 14 years. The work I've done has taught me so much about myself, but I've come to a place where I must now walk the road on my own. Your videos, with your calm, wise, compassionate voice, are giving me the skills I need to do so. The steps are doable and I'm actually able to move through my day. Subscribed and follow your videos. Thank you so much

    I have been doing the achievement and enjoyable activities on most days for about 2 weeks now. My moods have uplifted alot. I would highly recommend this. At the moment I am doing 2 achievement activities and 1 enjoyable a day and so far feel much better. Not major tasks but little things that are not too overwhelming for me and slowly I am building up. Key i find is to make it easy enough to do,even if you do something for 5 or 10 minutes to start off. Thankyou. Great video and very effective.

    This is a really good video and makes lots of important points. I know that behavioural activation is an effective way of managing my depression but I still find it difficult to put it into practice when my mood is at its lowest! I'll keep chipping away at it though and will keep coming back to this video for some encouragement.

    Very helpful. Definitely explains why I've been so down. Was sick, isolating, couldn't work & even after I got better I've been feeling like sleeping all day, not wanting to wake up. Haven't wanted to do anything at all. Just sad. Kinda scary. Thanks for the video.

    If you go down a more spiritual path, you find out there really is no purpose in doing anything else. Nothing has any inherent meaning. It sounds dark, but it's actually the most beautiful aspect of life. Everything just is. Language dumbs everything down, which sounds like a paradox cause I'm using language to get my point across, but everything is. Why do anything? For the sake of doing it. Existence is truly abstract art that cannot truly be defined by the analytical mind. We are the universe experiencing and learning itself. The best medicine was learning who I am. "Who are you?" I am...

    If the individual is clinically depressed how can these techniques work? Depression can be a host of a lot of things...sadly, big pharma profits immensely from the suffering of others or better said, humanity’s suffering...

    • @SelfHelpToons
      @SelfHelpToons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Therapy for clinical depression is as effective as medication. Some people benefit more from therapy, some benefit more from medication, some from a combination of both. On average recovery from depression is about the same whether the treatment involves therapy or medication.

    • @Avalonserena
      @Avalonserena 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It’s definitely very hard work as someone who’s been hospitalized for mental illness many times growing up these skills are hard to push yourself to do them! It’s a long slow and painful process. Personally I believe it’s a mix of medication and therapy that has gotten me onto the right track

    • @dianarusnov292
      @dianarusnov292 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Avalonserena Totally agree! Depends on the source of the depression too. If I'm depressed as a result of a BPD trigger, it's a little easier to work through. But if it's a bipolar episode coming almost out of nowhere and it's gotten to a severe point, it's almost hopeless to get out of. Because it's so much more physically exhausting and more severe.
