- This video details the light modification I've made to my 2017 Cadillac ATS 2.0L. Most of the work focused on using Plasti-Dip to delete the majority of the chrome on the car. I also added a few low cost carbon fiber components. I also did a muffler delete and added a Mishimoto intake tube.

A down pipe and a tune would wake up that 2.0 sooooooo much, that exhaust sounds a lot better then i expected.
You made the exhaust sound 100% better.
The grille looks terrible. In an era of cheap looking plastic cars the chrome is what gives the cadillac its bling and upscale appeal.

I love your interior! I did the same thing, I ran across a 2017 Cadillac ATS 3.6l AWD premium luxury edition, but it wasn't until I opened the door I knew I had to buy it. I also dislike an overabundance of chrome, My ATS color is Black Raven, but I didn't know about there Carbon Black sport package which includes the following:
Exterior:
Black Chrome grille and rear fascia applique
Black finish side window moldings and body-colored door handles
After Midnight dark finish 19'wheels
V-Series spoiler
Interior:
Low-gloss carbon fiber interior trim
RECARO power 9 way front seats.

At first I was like what the hell is he doing that's insane!!! But I withheld judgement till the end and it looks really really nice.. Great Job !!!!! I just bought my first ATS 2.0T AWD last week its a 2013. And I love it this is my third cadillac I have owned But the difference is that my other ones were the full-size 2004 Deville which was the first one I owned in Raven Black. My second Cadilllac was a 2008 DTS Luxury 3 with white Diamond Tri-coat paint still have it and love my DTS. So as you can imagine going to the ATS I was a little nervous due to the size of it but it is so so fun to drive.

Nice same here ,96,2002 deville,and 2007 dts. Goin to the the ATS4 I was concerned about the power from the v6, but 1st drive and not even half throttle was way faster than the north*
I think it looks really nice, I wouldnt have used plasti dip for chrome delete though I wouldve used vinyl wrap like you did with the reflectors, its just that after some time it will start looking really bad. Ive seen ats with plasti dip chrome delete and it didnt take long for it to wear. Something that I would recommend doing that would look really nice is wrapping the roof of your car along with that fin a gloss black color. White ATS's with tinted windows and chrome delete with Gloss black roof looks really nice. Google some pictures you wont regret it.
Hey Jhawk thanks for this amazing build. I based mine exactly as yours but without the muffler delete and my chrome delete is in Gloss Black instead of satin.

Looks good. When i did my front grille. I tapped the interior of the Cadillac emblem and got the lines straight with and exacto knife and just did the borders of the emblem black. Looks sick.

Chrome delete why it’s luxury it’s supposed to have chrome but to each there own love the car.
Some guy blacked out the chrome on the inside of the headlight looked awesome.
Yes, not easy to do. You have to unseal the headlight which can lead to water leaking and humidity build up. Also if you mess that up, you're out at least $1K for a new set.

Nicely done. Will be in the market soon debating on the 3.6 non turbo. But I would do all the simple mods you did. Just gotta be careful of the muffler delete in NY...

I LOVE IT! I am owner of a 2016 ATS that looks nearly identical (white with black interior here). I went to a sale and fell in love. I drove it away. I really like the 2.0 turbo engine. Good gas mileage in these turbulent #Bidenflation gas price times ($4.59 a gallon today when I filled up). I am not hung up on the chrome as you are though. I do love the sexy exhaust sound of your mod.

Does the eBay splitter require new holes to be drilled for the 2015+ ATS front bumper? Do the holes on the splitter line up with the holes on the bumper 2015-2018?
It requires you to create holes. The holes DO NOT line up.

@@jhawk1977 so the holes on the bottom of the bumper that already exist to hold it in are useless towards the front splitter? Do you know of any splitters for the ATS that utilize these pre existing holes?

jhawk1977 I bought a front lip kit but it didn’t fit right, did you install it under the mud flap? The wing part on ends seems to stick out rather far

Love it. Great job! You've got a good eye for making really tasteful updates on DIY budget. Very cool! Curious, have you looked in to catch cans and/or blow off valves to help protect the turbo? curious to see if you chip and remap for additional power and performance for track day. :)
Thanks for the compliments. I have looked at catch cans and BOVs and tuning. I plan on doing more for sure, I am just not sure of my next step. More research is needed!

Looks great. Only minus (to me) would be that muffler delete. I would have put a Y-pipe vs. a T-pipe, too restrictive and not as free flowing. I would put have put aggressive mufflers to make it sound less ricy.
I don't think its sounds ricy at all, a lot of times a muffler delete gives a less raspy sound then after market muffler if you keep stock cats, plus a muffler delete is waaaaay cheaper and it drops a 25-30lbs off the car.
The chrome trim you took of the front is the part expensive if I want to replace mine. I just bought a 16 ats and I notice small rust spots that won’t come out any suggestions?

Hey what plasti dip spray did you use, and did it really just peel off the car when you did the badges?
@@RyanBrakstad I used the name brand stuff at the time. I'm pretty sure it was Plasti-Dip. And yes, it did just peel off the car when I did the badges

@@RyanBrakstad Depends on how carefully you wash the car. No "auto washes". Just hand wash the badges and they'll last a long time. You can easily remove and redo every other year or so.

love the mods, sad to say but with the depreciation of the ats V, its better to just buy a V . Im a 2015 ats owner struggling between modding my caddy or just buy a V

The lip should fit up to 2018. The decal is from eBay. I just had a vinyl printer make it for me. Cost maybe $8.

Got a silver ATS. Looking to do something similar to yours. Personally, I'd recommend you paint the chrome door handles to match the body.

I used actual PlastiDip. I know there are copies out there now and I've used similar products since. However on this Caddy, I used actual matte black PlastiDip from DipYourCar.com
For the headlights, parking lights and brake lights, I used vinyl.

Nice mods. Still debatable about the cold air intake. Did you ever find a 1 piece front splitter? Where you going to black out your rims?

I purchased the blacked out rear emblem from this seller in the link. It looks cool, but the quality doesn't seem to be the highest. Did you remove the original ? Or just stick the aftermarket one over it ? Sorry I'm pretty incompetent when it comes to this kind of stuff. Thank you
You have to remove the old one in order to install the new one. Seems odd, that quality isn't good, they use genuine GM parts, so quality should be minimum to meet OEM standards.
Does anyone ones if a 203-2014 Front bumper will fit a 2016 ?

Thanks for watching. The car, in my opinion, doesn't drone on the highway with the muffler delete. The resonators are still intact and not removed, so that helps.

I don't, sorry. I sold the car in 2020, so I cannot give you numbers. I can tell you that the car felt much faster and shifted much faster.
When spraying the chrome on the front bumper did you put anything behind the grille? Is there anything I'd have to worry abt getting sprayed behind the girlle ?
I didn't. I just used lots of painter's tape on the front to keep the spray from going into the grill.
How did you protect the radiator before dipping the grill?

Nice the video, I have an 2015 ATS coupe and I'm thinking on modifying the muffler and the air intake. I do have few questions on the muffler. After removing the muffler; did any alert light show up on the dash (like engine Light) or any sensor light alert? When driving, does it make a lot of noise when is been driven (accelerating)? I heard in the video the sound of your car but I'm a little be concern with the noise level when driving.
There were and have been no CEL's and no alerts by removing the muffler. There are no sensors after the cat, so there would be nothing to set off a CEL. As for noise, it's not outrageous or "ricer". It has a nice low tone and it is not loud at all.
jhawk1977 awesome mods!! Thinking of doing some of them to my 2013 ats. Back to the muffler delete, did you just straight pipe everything from where you cut off the muffler? What did you use and roughly how much did it cost?
Also any easy mods for the 3.6L engine, to get some more hp without Doug major things like an added turbo?
@@ARBRIM24 You can see the photos from the video. It's "straight piped" with bent stainless steel tubing to use the original exhaust outlets. I made the cut, so that was free. I took it to a muffler shop to bend and weld new stainless steel tubing and install the carbon fiber tips. Easy mods...Intake Tube, drop in filter and a tune!

Looks good man , I have the same exact car ( wife's daliy ) i also have the carbon rear spoiler ( V style ) and the front spoiler . Plus the same Mishimoto intake tube . After i installed the tube my engine light came on . Now it goes off and on periodically . Did you have this issue as well ?
No, because I had the car tuned after the upgrades. I think the tune made the difference.
Were you actually able to swap the front emblem without removing the grill? I didn't think it was possible which is why I never did it on my '15
Yes, using an accessory removal tool, I was able to carefully pop the tabs and pull the emblem off.

I ordered a custom vinyl decal from eBay. Cost me probably $7 or $10.
Would have been cheaper to get the air intake induction tub from ZZperformance than Mishimoto.

Side skirts...Got them from a user on eBay. It was a 4-piece kit. 2 pieces between the wheels/tires and two pieces on the rear valance.

Yes, just a muffler delete. I didn't add anything other than the intake tube and a tune. The sound comes from removing the muffler. A muffler...MUFFLES sound, removing it allows for more sound.

my mom has a 2015 and the screen in the center console is really small and i thought it was just the 2015 model but other 2015s don’t have small screens
There are Cue (big screen) and Non-Cue (small screen) models in each year for the ATS. It depends on the trim level.

My daily driver has LED headlights that blow away my ATS. I feel like the headlights are a real low point in the vehicle.

Hey man it looks good! Great job . I recently seen a picture of the final product with the nee blacked out rims. I was wondering what is the tire size you used and where did you get those rims, whats the name ?
I bought the wheels off of Facebook marketplace, so I am not sure about the brand, but they are 18x8 and the tires are 225/40R18 92W.
I hate plasti dip and stick on garbage, I’m spending tons of money at zzp to make my ats 2.0t 500 whp. I bought black led side markers and also replace the rear end lower red reflectors with black lights that have brake and drl and it looks amazing.

Check my other videos. I Plasti-Dipped the wheels in black. I did end up getting new 20" black wheels, but the Plasti-Dip was holding up to the point that I swapped them over. It was holding up really well on the car too.

Pimps don't care about power, speed or better aero. I've taken steps to improve all three. It's not like I've added hydraulics and a velvet interior. So, I didn't...not right away. Since I did the muffler delete as well, I had the car tuned. The check engine light came on once or twice, but cleared the code and once it was tuned, the light didn't come back on.

Muffler tips? I didn't replace them. I had new carbon fiber ones installed on the straight pipes.

I wanted a coupe but I would only buy a premium and they were to expensive so I bought a 14 sedan in performance trim, I had to have to have the light blades and fog lights and hid. I think the 13-14 front end looks better then the 15-19

No muffler...it's a muffler delete.
If I don’t do a tune would it still sound bad
And with the muffler delete did u get a check engine light?
It will sound the same as mine, but you lose the benefit of the muffler delete if you don't tune it.
