I feel like I just watched the Duck Dynasty of truck drivers. And although I'm not a truck driver, I used to commute every day on the Cross Bronx Pkwy and over the Throgs Neck Bridge to get to work. Loved it!
My old stomping grounds. He's actually on the 80/95 express lanes, This is actually NJ Turnpike Authority maintained roadway. He's approaching the George Washington Bridge
Hi JBG. I live in The Bronx and work out of NJ and whenever I have to deliver in CT or North I always use the Tappan Zee Bridge to I-287 and the catch I-95. 2 reasons why. 1. I save almost $50 and 2. Traffic is always better even in rush hour traffic. God bless and be safe.
Ricky Munday as a trucker thank you for yielding to us. But u got to watch out for those guys that have their turn signals on cuz they never turned them off. Then your being polite for no reason. It happens to me all the time so don't feel bad.
Thank you sir for these videos awesome traveling it seems like I'm in the truck sightseeing Love The View and like the way you describe where you're at , temperature day and time keep the videos coming just subscribed to your Channel ,be safe Godspeed
Also, just an FYI, it is generally faster to use the local lanes, then as you get very close to the bridge, right before you get to to the lower level after I-95 curves to the left, where it says all trucks must exit, exit off the left side to get to the upper level.
There is no good time to deal with cross Bronx, but 5 pm forget it, an yea on the Jeep, looking to buy one soon. Before I retired, (yellow freight) I went thru this area after midnight
BIG TRUCKS WITH AUTOMATICS ARE FOR WANNABE TRUCK DRIVERS WHO CAN'T DRIVE A STICK IN A BIG TRUCK !! IF YOU CAN'T DRIVE A STICK IN A BIG TRUCK, THEN YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS BEING BEHIND THE WHEEL !!! I LEARNED TO DRIVE BIG TRUCKS, AND STICK SHIFT TRANSMISSIONS ON A 1954 B MODEL MACK LUMBER TRUCK, THAT HAD A STRAIGHT 6 GAS ENGINE, AND A 5 SPEED MAIN/4 SPEED AUX TRANSMISSION, AND REVERSE WAS ON THE AUX TRANSMISSION... IF YOU MISSED A GEAR WHEN SHIFTING UP THROUGH, YOU BETTER STOP, AND START ALL OVER AGAIN, BECAUSE NO MATTER WHAT YOU TRIED, YOU WERE NOT GOING TO GET THE GEAR YOU MISSED THE FIRST TIME AROUND. AND LOTS OF DOUBLE, AND SOMETIMES TRIPLE CLUTCHING, AND YOU HAD ARM STRONG POWER STEERING TOO.
garthks After 40+ years of driving truck, I've got an automatic. My left knee is shot from kicking a clutch, and I'm in real pain when in a traffic jam. I ain't got nothing to prove to anybody, been there, done that, ain't my first rodeo, and I ain't no wannabe! Well except for retired.
10 speeds are the hardest to drive and I'll run it no clutch and I'm now in an auto traffic jams are great you can run up and down your super trucker gears I'll sit back and scratch my balls with my spare hand
my dad was a trucker so I respect what you guys do I try to yield to you in traffic ..its not easy doing your job especially idiot car drivers ..and you brought up a good point about the g.w.b.toll they probably pocket most of it...
Lovely trip Johnny! I have been through the same exact parts that you have went through in this video except that was back in 2008 when me and my family were headed Boston Massachusetts for a wedding. I remember getting stuck in traffic and reading all of the graffiti on the walls and bridges. That was about the only highlight of being stuck in traffic.
Now this is the best view you have ever given us, love to see the full inside view of the cab. straight out the front windshield is not bad, but this is even better....
I always treat trucks like my best friend was driving it and give them every break I can on the road. It would be a better safer world if everyone did that. Good luck to you and Blue.
I drive a taxi, I hate having to go into NY. I don't know how you can get around the New York streets driving a truck with a sleeper cab. God Bless you.
All the truckers are working hard to deliver your food and beverages to the store so you can get what you want. Imagine if all the trucks stopped and were not working, therefore no groceries, that is why I want to start out as a diesel mechanic and eventually own mechanic shops. I respect all truck drivers.
when i travel i love the cb,, that way when i don't know where i need to go there is always a trucker out there that has been there before and can help me to the right path :)
I drive a sprinter van. I was once stuck on the GWB during afternoon Friday rush hour. It took me about an hour and a half just to drive three quarters of a mile. Boy did that suck. I try to avoid loads to NYC but you have to go through this route to get to Connecticut, etc..
I have been to Manila a lot but always with a friend driving or in a taxi. Was in Angeles city in Jan. taxi and trike. I live in Leyte and just ride my Yamaha scooter. You are right about price, very high for some of those vehicles.
Wow, I went back in time to WELL.. This is the first video I saw of Miss Blue inside and rolling on a normal day. I came on your channel right after you started with ADL. I think the dash board on Baby Blue is nicer and more gauges, etc. I guess what you miss most of all in Baby Blue is the automatic transmission.. Miss Blue doesn't rattle as much as Baby Blue either, LoL, but I like Baby Blue.
In 2006, bridge tolls totaled about $1 million per day; at the time, tolls for cars were $6 cash, $5 E-ZPass peak hours, and $4 E-ZPass off-peak hours.
hey i live in nyc and i own a truck i drive locally and i go across the George Washington bridge 2 times a day and let me tell you nobody knows where that money goes that bridge is owned by the port authority of ny and nj they also own all nyc airport and nj marine terminals and they don't report to any agency of the state or government they do whatever they what with that money..
The latest data from the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) says the average trucking cost per mile in the U.S. is $1.59. So if one of your trucks drove 100,000 miles last year (about the average for U.S. big rigs), you spent $159,000 to keep that single truck on the road.Mar 1, 2018
If the taxes and fees went to what it was supposed too the politicians wouldn't have the money to buy votes!!! politicians will be the downfall of our nation!!
J CaaM that does not surprise me. I hear that the tolls were only there to collect enough money to pay for the hwy then once they found out how much money the tolls were bringing in they decided to never shut them down. Go figure!!
Hey the bronx i use to live out in the bronx now i live in california. But going back to your question how much money the GW bridge makes well i use to work for the Transit and yes on all bridges in the city brings in around 4 to 9 million each day.
Hey Jonhnny I was wondering why you did not post video of ny, behold facebook recommended me a video where you delivered in bronx ny, as you said, stone city. I was happy to see your video in ny, you were 40 min from my house in ct. ✌️
Hi Trucker I really like your videos. I myself finished school for my CDL.A. Question for you, what camera do you use for all your filming? Whats the name of the brand & stuff. I want to purchase for myself as well when I start driving. Thank, you!
Not sure what time of day this was but that looks pretty tame. Anytime I go through the toll booths for the GW it's always at 7am. and it's absolute bedlam! I was going through the tolls, same lane you took, and accidentally nipped a pick up truck with my ICC bumper. Didn't even know I did it. I hate NYC and the cross bronx! haha
Drive it all the time from Rhode Island to,New Jersey. All monies from tolls in New York and New Jersey go to the maintenance of the highways in both states. It is almost impossible to shut down even one lane of this bridge at any time. You could sit for an hour or more without moving. God help there is never an accident. I think they do about 300,000 vehicles a day at $12.00 a car. They also only toll in one direction.
youre very welcome ..I drove for a friend in texas ..he had a moving company..i drove peterbuilt through dallas Houston .st louis ect so I know what its like ,,they can have the cities...I didn't mind driving through Oklahoma city /my sister lives there..so id stop for a few hours
Apparently in 2005, the bridge generated $326,000,000 in a year, which works out at around $893,150 per day. And repair costs are estimated to be $1Billion. :o Edit: Between October 2011 and March 2012, the tolls took in $602.7 million ($1.65 million per day average).
Doesn't surprise me, companies always want more money. It's the same with the Dartford Crossing here in the UK, toll price has been steadily increasing the last few years, despite the fact the bridge was 'paid off' many years ago, so now it's a profit making machine. Also, according to a couple of sites I visited, the New Jersey Turnpike saw traffic increase by 100% when the toll on the G W Bridge was increased. Crazy huh?
The annual toll revenue of $650 million is far more than the agency needs for the upkeep of the span, one of the nation's busiest. The New Jersey side of the George Washington Bridge, which connects Fort Lee, N.J., and New York City, on Jan. 9, 2014.Apr 29,
Looks like a lot of traffic ! I drive in Seoul, Korea in my personal vehicle, (Chevrolet Avalanche ) a lot more traffic and people than New York and that is bad enough. I couldn't imagine driving a big rig over here. :) But you and blue seem to do well no matter where you are.
$150 k a year to drive a truck in NY? Hell no, I want a million a year to live & drive a truck in NY. The tolls alone would be $100 k a year! Those bridges in NY are expensive as hell. I went from exit 4 on NJ turnpike to JFK airport in my taxi and back and it was $55, and that's with 4 wheels!
John I. Am 92 years old and have never been to N ew York city but you have made it possible. For me to Get there sitting be side you thank yo
Hello there James, I’m glad I could share them with you
JBG Hi JD me happy

Looks like the truck needs an alignment done. Going around the soft left curve but the steering wheel is either straight or slightly to the right.
Very nice video thanks for letting us ride along be safe may god bless you!
I feel like I just watched the Duck Dynasty of truck drivers. And although I'm not a truck driver, I used to commute every day on the Cross Bronx Pkwy and over the Throgs Neck Bridge to get to work. Loved it!
It's an expressway, parkways don't allow trucks.
Truck stopping distance should be required knowledge for all drivers licenses. It's ridiculous how they jump in front of you.
How is the weather
My old stomping grounds. He's actually on the 80/95 express lanes, This is actually NJ Turnpike Authority maintained roadway. He's approaching the George Washington Bridge
Hi JBG. I live in The Bronx and work out of NJ and whenever I have to deliver in CT or North I always use the Tappan Zee Bridge to I-287 and the catch I-95. 2 reasons why. 1. I save almost $50 and 2. Traffic is always better even in rush hour traffic. God bless and be safe.
Thank God for the 287!
i employed a few drivers in my time and i can say your company is very lucky to have you behind the wheel of there truck
Love these old videos, John. Takes me back to good memories.
As a driver on the road, I always yield to truckers wanting to merge.
Cb is making a comeback these days! I'm currently researching them to find one for me. Leaning on the President Grant II.
Me to I give truckers respect. I yield to them and give plenty of room to them.
Ricky Munday as a trucker thank you for yielding to us. But u got to watch out for those guys that have their turn signals on cuz they never turned them off. Then your being polite for no reason. It happens to me all the time so don't feel bad.
Your in my home state JBG keep on trucking love the videos
i just started watching this today, friday march 1st 2019 at around 2 a.m. in the morning.
Thank you sir for these videos awesome traveling it seems like I'm in the truck sightseeing Love The View and like the way you describe where you're at , temperature day and time keep the videos coming just subscribed to your Channel ,be safe Godspeed
I appreciate your positivity you are so positive I don't hear one negative thing coming out of you very very very rarely
Also, just an FYI, it is generally faster to use the local lanes, then as you get very close to the bridge, right before you get to to the lower level after I-95 curves to the left, where it says all trucks must exit, exit off the left side to get to the upper level.
I agree Captain 100%.. I do the same especially on a Sunday evening..
Jeeps have always been popular but you do see a lot more nowadays but man do they definitely have a resale value to them
There is no good time to deal with cross Bronx, but 5 pm forget it, an yea on the Jeep, looking to buy one soon. Before I retired, (yellow freight) I went thru this area after midnight
Gotta love the automatic transmission in traffic like that...

hello Marlon. i don't dig the beauty of graffiti..
john vollrath Some of it can be disturbing, As some may be pieces of actual art.
Now this is the best view you have ever given us, love to see the full inside view of the cab. straight out the front windshield is not bad, but this is even better....

I thought UK m6 south was crazy!!! Your composer is a example to us all fella.

That cross Bronx expressway was built in the 50s-60s as part of the Eisenhower Highway Project. There were apartment buildings where the road is now.
when i travel i love the cb,, that way when i don't know where i need to go there is always a trucker out there that has been there before and can help me to the right path :)
Earliest when I was working as truck driver at N.Y. in 70s &80s we were crossing that bridge very day
The view is ace, I feel as is I'm in the pax seat...
jbg enjoy your videos keep them coming ..again drive safe where ever you go!!!and ole blue too
I drive a sprinter van. I was once stuck on the GWB during afternoon Friday rush hour. It took me about an hour and a half just to drive three quarters of a mile. Boy did that suck. I try to avoid loads to NYC but you have to go through this route to get to Connecticut, etc..
U can take 287 around I never go up 95 northbound
Lamonte Lee 287 any day to the Tappan Zee. And then cut through Westchester to 95 in Port Chester, NY
I have been to Manila a lot but always with a friend driving or in a taxi. Was in Angeles city in Jan. taxi and trike. I live in Leyte and just ride my Yamaha scooter. You are right about price, very high for some of those vehicles.
When he crossed under that concrete arch bridge, the building on the left is one in which i used to work. Fort Lee, NJ
4-wheelers won't let you in! They're pissed at you just because you are there!
Good position of the camera John!! Thanks.

rafael tejeda , go ask them where the money goes that you want to see all the receipts within the last 10 years. Go right ahead😂
rafael tejeda no wonder why the roads and hwys in N.Y./nj are crap
In the pockets of over paid cops, worthless toll collectors and management. Surely not for the roads or to ease traffic
The potholes is the last thing on their mind.I the U.K it is a similar situation. The road tax isn't spend on the roads.
Thanks for video. This video have 35 min and only one heavy truck Cabover KW 100 :-(

Nice vid. I always avoid the Grand Central to go east at all costs, so I like the GW/Cross Bronx route also when heading east thru the city.
Hi John and hope y'all are having a blessed wonderful day.
15 dollars 2p15 and 2016 1 million per day tolls for cars were 6.00 cash 5.00 ezpass
GWB doesn't make enough money to cover the amount the MTA thieves pocket in 24 hours
Better management?
MTA gotta pay off the Mob, the hookers, the pimps and the prostitutes! Time is money, friend!!!
If the taxes and fees went to what it was supposed too the politicians wouldn't have the money to buy votes!!! politicians will be the downfall of our nation!!

Hey Jonhnny
I was wondering why you did not post video of ny, behold facebook recommended me a video where you delivered in bronx ny, as you said, stone city. I was happy to see your video in ny, you were 40 min from my house in ct. ✌️
Jonny, Why is your wheel off center? Bad alignment job?
SEG RIDER Yeah....my OCD Really kicks in when I see that 😄
funny it totally is off
the gps its trying to send you another way because low clearance in nyc are miss labeled
I lived in Manhattan and my girlfriend lived in Parkchester right next to the Cross Bronx, it was my rule to never get on the Cross Bronx in daylight.
Express lane in South Hackensack nj. I'm a chauffeur and I'm always in that express lane
If my maths serve me right, you can buy 1200 new trucks (at a 1/4 million each).
Thanks for the video!
Looks like you weren't too far from where I live. I'm off exit 53 at I-80, exit 47 at I-287.
I’m watching this in 2018
Februari 2019
So, the EZ Pass lanes are as jammed as the regular toll lanes? The New York area's a nice place to visit... well, you know the rest. :D
I like the hum of that diesel music to my ears!
I drive that road all the time looks so funny to see it on a video
I just watched a truck driver drive through traffic for the past 35 minutes and it's currently 3 a.m. What am I doing with my life?
Dustin Platt bro literally same
"this place is a really rocky rocky place"
that's why it's so great for skyscrapers
You have to understand New York. I miss my hometown. The Bronx.
tks for the ride was awsome
8:48 yeah I can imagine living here, I live like 70 miles from there, and traffic can get heavy.
The New York Toll system makes over 1 billion dollars a year.
Always wanted to visit new York but I’ll just go to Melbourne in Australia and multiply everything by ten.
Hi Trucker

I love that the manual shift clowns lost the auto shift wars.

That automatic looks a little easier in traffic actually. I can drive any speed but this would help for those half hour traffic jams :)
$944,640 that's how much gorge Washington bridge makes in 24 hours a day
Expensive to maintain I would assume.
Steering wheel off just a little bit eh?
Looks like a lot of traffic ! I drive in Seoul, Korea in my personal vehicle, (Chevrolet Avalanche ) a lot more traffic and people than New York and that is bad enough. I couldn't imagine driving a big rig over here. :) But you and blue seem to do well no matter where you are.
me and Blue looks cool on the outside but shaken like a chicken in the inside haha.
john vollrath
That's okay. Too much confidence can breed disaster.
that was light. Try getting thur on a friday afternoon or sunday night they are crazy. Last time I went thru , fist fights, drunks !
Good thing he went through when traffic was light.
Enjoy your videos,...question about the truck,...you running a Cummins engine or a Paccar engine?
Goggle says the george washington bridge takes in 344 million dollars a year
The GWB and the cross Bronx were a cluster 50 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
$150 k a year to drive a truck in NY? Hell no, I want a million a year to live & drive a truck in NY. The tolls alone would be $100 k a year! Those bridges in NY are expensive as hell. I went from exit 4 on NJ turnpike to JFK airport in my taxi and back and it was $55, and that's with 4 wheels!
i lived all my life in new York city i got so tired of it i had to move out the city its too much even in the winter oh no
The GW bridge makes almost a million dollars a day in toll revenues.
the steering does not stop right my friend
Well love thise show everybady learns
You should've 🚶 across Geo bridge and do your honky tonky in the under pass tunnel.
Whats up with the steering wheel play?
I drove truck for 20 years .. In traffic like this I would just let it idle real slow and let everybody pass and just keep moving real slow!
