Like someone mentioned, I too watch many interview technique videos and this is by far one of the best-you were clear, concise and knowledgeable. Furthermore, I loved that you moved around; it kept me focused and kept my mind from wandering. Good Job! Thanks for your help!
This is so awesome! I am definitely gone to watch this 2-3 more times to ensure that I am ready for my next interview. I really want this position so I need to nail it!
This is a fantastic educational video, I've been studying and making notes from this video and now I feel much more confident for my upcoming interview, thank you so much AgCareers. :)
I am constantly searching for relevant information to share with job seekers. Your video "Selling Yourself in an Interview" was the best that I have seen to date, and I have viewed over fifty in the past few years. Conducting LinkedIn workshops for undergraduate and graduate level college students is a service that I provide. The interview is the hardest part for many during the job search and professional branding process. I am sure that I will share your video link on a frequent basis. ERW
Thanks for your advice and help My interview in going to be next Wednesday and I think that I am prepare but it is always to be sure by seeing again your video to be sure that nothing is missing Thanks again.
Hi. Great video. I was wondering if you could tell me which program you used to shoot this video. It looks like you used a green screen but if I could have more details that would be great. Thanks.
You should always wear a suit no matter what! Shows that you are a professional and you are serious about getting business done!!! Even if you apply to a fast food job, always dress up!
I completely agree with you. This youtube video has some merit in that, unfortunately, some employers still look for this generic crap. My advice to anyone - BE YOURSELF ALL THE WAY. Nobody is perfect. But you are right - this process is flawed and employers know it too.
Sometimes the interviewer will ask about your family to assess if you are driven to show up as a reliable employee. Some interviews are conducted by hourly employees and have no HR training. Some interviews I have been to, I was left waiting while the manager did not know I was still waiting.. I get offended when the interviewer tries to read the application for the first time while I am waiting and continues to waste my time.
If you are also trying to pick an employer you like, that is a warning sign. If you'll take anything you can get, just be patient and make sure that whatever you want them to convey to their superiors gets recorded.
thiss helpd alote omg I took notes on this...cause there is no way I'm gna walk in n not get this jobso I'm gna be premared and set for my job I can do this!!!!!
On the what kind of tree would i be? Id say "pine 🌲" Because not only do they have gifts under it and are the most selling trees through the year. But they leave a fresh smell:)
I become sooooo incredibly nervous regardless (prepared or not). I feel as if I do not elaborate enough. In length, my responses can range anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute. Any advice? Anyone? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi AgCareers :) what a great video and tips!!! it is really nice. would you please help to re-advice the web site mentioned in min 3:55. Thanks team !!!
But why? Maybe they are considered too personal, but I think the personal life of an employee SHOULD be taken into consideration when hiring them. Afterall, are you looking for someone who can work long hours and travel spontaneously? You would want to hire someone who has no kids or spouse if possible. If they hire someone who has a family because they couldn't ask personal questions, they will have to find someone else eventually anyway. Just seems like a hassle.
"Do you mind me asking if you are married" was one interview question I once got asked, unfortunately. Completely inappropriate and I still kick myself for not saying "Yes".
Yeah, but I imagine that an answer based on make-believe events would look better than answering ''Sorry, I have no example of that as it's never actually happened to me'' For ever question, lol. Not to mention that it's not as if the interviewer rings up your old boss and asks them if it's true that I lead a team on a particular project or that I had a disagreement with a colleague that I was able to resolve etc! They'd never know.
Zack Sleeps If you don't have job experience, just reference school experience. Even if it's high school. If you don't have school experience, reference life experience. They just want to know you can do the job. And you can.
It is illegal because employers are not allowed to discriminate based on marital status, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, creed or whether or not someone has children. Imagine an employer saying, "Oh, you have children, well you cannot work here." Imagine all the women who would be without employment. It is none of the employer's business. Just because someone has children does not mean that he/she would not be able to meet the demands of a particular position.
This has nothing to do with denial. A person who is serious and professional will research the demands of a position and make a decision based on what is best for them and their family. It is none of the employer's business. I live in Brazil where it is not illegal to ask such questions and women between 25 and 35 who are married with no children are discriminated against b/c employers figure they will have children soon and want time off. Discrimination is not acceptable ever.
Men do have children, but in most societies women are the caretakers. Women were the ones who were discriminated against for having children in the past. It is for that reason that that particular question is illegal. Just because the employer can't ask about children does not mean that applicants don't know about the demands of a given job. Are you implying that people with children should not have certain jobs? If so, that is exactly why employers can't ask that question.
Men have children too. But it seems logical to say, "Oh, you have children? You may not want this job, it's a 50 hour work week to succeed in this position" Wouldn't people with children WANT to know what the position will expect in terms of hours? Wouldn't they want to be able to be with their kids without irritating their boss? I guess people like to be in denial about if they can do the work or not.
I think these interviews are ridiculous. So many times I've seen people who can talk the talk but they can't walk the walk. What's to say that anything they tell you is true? Many psychopaths are excellent at verbal skills. Many amazingly talented workers who know exactly how to get the job done and achieve great outcomes are not too good at explaining what they do. You really need to get the person to relax and be themselves rather than force them into this manufactured style interview.
Like someone mentioned, I too watch many interview technique videos and this is by far one of the best-you were clear, concise and knowledgeable. Furthermore, I loved that you moved around; it kept me focused and kept my mind from wandering. Good Job! Thanks for your help!

extremely helpful :))
Thank you
a lot of people looking for a job, its a buyers market. How else are they supposed to pick a person
One good tip that was missed out:
Research the company you're applying for before the interview.
I have no real life examples to use for behavioural based questions. Do I just make stuff up about make-believe 'work projects' that never happened??
Yeah, but I imagine that an answer based on make-believe events would look better than answering ''Sorry, I have no example of that as it's never actually happened to me'' For ever question, lol.
