i dont. stupid people deserve to be talked down and condescended to! we've been coddling them long enough! validating their precious feelings and rights to have their own opinions based on nothing but conjecture and "personal truths". where did that get us? do you see what kind of world this turns into where everybody feels safe to express every idiotic brain fart with the knowledge that nobodys gonna call em out on it?

It's more his tone that annoys the fuck out of me. And I say this as a long time fan.
I think it's kind of funny that he doesn't watch his podcasts back. Maybe the reason he doesn't like to watch himself, is because he'd have to reflect on his his behavior/attitude - self reflection and introspection can be painful.
I also think it's really funny how his podcast seems SOOO overproduced. Part of the pull of podcasts is that they're less produced/fake and Maher just really can't seem to shake his network mentality.

@@vinvin4884 he says things that are in conflict, he’ll mock dems for being woke and judgemental and then he’ll be shallow and judgemental…only guest i’ve seen call him on it was Sean Penn…I ended up liking Sean more than Bill.
The self righteousness is off the chart. He’s too self absorb to understand issues from others point of view.
I’m happy he’s happy, but it’s a shallow life…but as Jordan Peterson said, I see why no one has married you…oh he says I could have…yea but wouldn’t have managed to stay married…he has a juvenile opinion of marriage…yes things change, and it’s not for everyone, but it is a comfort to have a spouse as you age, they can become your real friend. as you said, it’s his arrogant tone that is off putting…I see an old self absorbed pot head.

My adopted mother was a extroverted and knows no strangers. But one day she asked me if I ever felt lonely. I was puzzled by the questions but I realized what she was asking so I asked her what is lonely feels like. She said to me that when she is alone, she feels alone and nervous. I, Then said, I don’t feel lonely, I enjoy quite time because I like time to think and analyze at the end of the day what I have learned, progress in life, and where it’s going. I, asked her, why wouldn’t anyone like quiet time? Mother then said, she thought I was lonely because I seem to spend time alone, a lot of time. I reminded her that being alone is not a lonely for some people, I happen to be one of them.

I appreciate conversations like this and I truly enjoy listening to the perspective of others who don’t necessarily align with my political or religious views. I think Howie made a great point when saying there’s a lack of respect. If we just went back to respecting each other no matter political, religious, or sexual beliefs, we could move forward and become a better country at a much quicker pace.

You’re wrong to be conservative and it’s also harmful. Truth matters and it’s good to call out lies and toxicity and to not treat it like it’s valid. Tolerating it is what brought our society to the broken state it’s in to begin with:

But its incredibly divisive for America. It just doesn't happen elsewhere even in other western countries with high immigration. In Australia they push the indigenous agenda but you're only talking about 3% of people max. Everyone else is under the Australian category.

I have worked very hard as a former teacher, mechanic, landscaper, and whatever work I could find over the past 25+ years. Privilege /privileged should also not be a negative word. I was listening to Lex Fridman's podcast and I recall, I made a comnent regarding White Privilege which was as follows:
It only relates to the very wealthy or the very upper middle class which we have very little of due to corporate hegemony or capitalism gone amock and destroying it. Hence, I have to agree with Bill because I frankly think white people who are not coming from the upper echelons of society do NOT have white privilege and may or may not have an advantage.
Case in point: After 2 years teaching, a gay, hispanic woman was given tenure and a woman who'd been there over a decade but was straight & white said: She got the position cuz she checked e boxes and I checked only one and they did NOT look at experience. In my case, i was studying paralegal studies while trying for a teaching job and one day a lovely African American co-student told me she'd gotten the job and she apologized. I had a Masters and years of experience domestically and internationally but she--who had NO higher degree or any teaching experience--as had the advantage of being black.
So YES the BETTER word to use is advantage. I had NO privilege and due to the city I lived in, I also had no advantage.

I was raised in South Central LA and listening to Howie and his daughter speak about white privilege bothers me a bit. Im a huge Bill Maher fan after this. I hate the word white privilege because I feel like that handicaps every single person of color and allows them to make an excuse for themselves as to why they’re failing in life. I’m not white and grew up in a very tough neighborhood. What Howie and his daughter don’t understand is what it’s like to grow up in places like that and they never will. When I was in 8th grade all my friends and their older siblings would tell me, being smart was for white people and the gangster life was for us. White people are not to blame for people in those places. It’s the people in those neighborhoods that don’t want to be better and they abuse the system because people that believe in “white privilege” continues to give these people handouts. I had to join the Marine Corps during war time and going to Iraq and Afghanistan was a better option than getting shot in a drive by in my neighborhood. I didn’t want to be born there but that’s what my parents could give me, but I knew one thing. I had to get my family out of there and thanks to the hard work of everyone we got out of there. Very few families want to do that because it’s so much easier to collect a paycheck every month and pay very little for rent. I still have family that lives there and they don’t talk to us because they say we are “white washed” and are too good for them. Such an ignorant mentality to have but people that believe in “white privilege” continues to enable these people to take advantage of the help without the intention of bettering themselves. Very ignorant.

I'm white. When I learned to drive I had, "the talk" i.e. common sense behavior when interacting with police during a traffic stop.
If all these young black men getting killed by police have "had the talk" why does the police cam footage show them behaving in the opposite manner? They're all on some dumb shit! I have yet to see a young black man getting killed by police who was in full cooperation with the officers request. This talking point has been horseshit ever since they started using it.

There's so much more at play then race. Howie didn't have to tell his daughter about being pulled over by police. But as a poor child my mom did talk to me if you ever get pulled over turn down the radio, keep your hands on the steering wheel, always be polite, don't argue, don't get an attitude
And she would say your young, they don't know you, so they are going to think your up to no good. Never leave home without your license. Howie has money he wasn't in poor neighborhood. Going into stores with it a parent. I would get watched, or get followed. I got questioned. I had a cop tackle me while sitting on the side of the road while talking to his partners because he thought we had drugs in the car. Which we didn't and they had to let us go. But I stayed calm, and polite. It's not always race just other races wouldn't know what others go through if they are watching only what happens to rich white kids.
That's what people over look. It's rich and poor that are different and now as an adult I can see why. Because cops don't know what they are walking up on. If your in a bad neighborhood and your actions look suspicious, they have to be in full guard compared to great area's.
There's advantages on both sides. If you stop to look. But if your poor your thrown all together.

    • @madvillainy6845
      @madvillainy6845 ปีที่แล้ว

If a cop tackles you because he THOUGHT you had drugs in the car, he isn't very bright is he? If I was a cop, I'm telling you, I'd be a dirty cop.

It’s not so much about race as it is about black culture - it can be disarming for some white cops who live in entire different suburban zip codes than the ones they police. Which is why they need better training, and black neighborhoods should have community policing by folks who actually live in their communities.

I have been astonished (but not surprised) from the beginning of this piece until the end that Maher sounds EXACTLY like me! he has the same attitudes to the ages of women, to the whole police debate etc etc. Whoopie had a right to say what she said. It goes on and on. And then towards the end - again - the issue of respect for elders. As a 62 year old who is partially disabled and who works in the middle east, I never cease to be amazed how I am treated with respect the second I walk through a door. It is instantaneous and universal. As a devoted follower of Bill Maher I am not surprised, but it is great to hear anyway. And finally - I think that Howie's daughter is cute as a button!!! She has a great vibe about her!! BTW - I HATE Club Random!! I'm fed up with Maher constantly interrupting his guests.....
