Thank you for the video. Very useful! Very few videos on YT on Pink Satin variety of pom. Can you please create another video on it sharing more info on its growth habit, how you fertilize, prune, pest, etc.? I (Z9b) am looking into growing it. And, if possible, pls compare with Parfianka & Desertnyi. - flavor/taste-wise. Thanks!
Thank You, I have so many varieties of fruit to shoot that i am not focused on planting and care videos right now. I will most likely do more of them next season. But maybe I can help you now directly, Pink Satin is a variety that I and my Dave Wilson Nursery Team reintroduced in the late 1990's. The Sin Pepe as it was called at the Wolfskill Germplasm repository in Winter's Ca. The variety is vigorous but compact and dense, so it's often grown as a hedge. Easily Kept to under 8 feet with summer pruning, size control is important with all Pomegranates in the Home Garden. The plant is very drought tolerant once established but care must be given for the first year of planting to not let the plant dry out (this does not mean overwater it!) as it gets established. These are not plants that require lots of fertilizer once established, mulching the tree and allowing the organic breakdown of the mulch feed the plant over time is the best approach. As far as pest or diseases are concerned; for pest watch for scale or the Leaf Footed Stink Bug. The Leaf Footed Stink Bug can cause Alternaria, a rotting of the Arils. Powdery Mildew can be a problem, most often due to overwatering. Also Overwatering can cause root rot and the death of the plant. Finally flavor comparison, simply the Parfianka and Desertnyi are both complex acid/sugar selections, both have great taste! The Pink Satin is a Subacid selection super sweet with a fruit punch like flavor. A favorite among many, including Brigid the woman presenting in the video. It is surely one of my favorites. I hope this is of some help.

How old is this tree?
Checking the field records it says it was planted in 2017, so about 7 years old. I personally have been picking off of it for 5 years.
