    You will always remember the way your Dad takes the time to do things right the first time and doesn't rush it.

    Really cool project! My son and I are restoring a 76 highboy as well but it's had a lot of work done to it, supercab swap, cummins swap, custom length bed. It will be going on TH-cam soon too. When you're initially setting up that carburetor, run your idle mixture screws on the front all the way in, gently, don't tighten them, then run them back out 1 and a half turns on each side. Then the idle adjustment on the throttle itself should be backed off until the throttle plates are fully closed, then turned back in one full turn. That will make it run and you can fine tune it from there. There are some great carb setting videos on Uncle Tony's Garage channel. Also try putting a quart of ATF in your engine oil and running it for awhile and see if that lifter tick will unstick itself. Love these old trucks, looking forward to seeing it back on the road again!

      Thanks for watching, and thanks for the tips! We will definitely try that out. I'm trying to get the third episode done here pretty soon, and spoiler alert...It might be driving around in that video :)

    Had the same issue with a 65 Chevy tank. I put a gal of muratic acid with the rest water and let it set for a day. Cleaned up like new. I then put por 15 has tank liner. Worked great.

      Awesome! Sounds like a great solution. I've heard that mineral spirits can work wonders for dissolving things too?? Good to know.

    Lkq tank.
    Once I cleaned up a tank by dumping some nuts and bolts in and shaking side to side.
    Nice truck. 390?

    • @ljmproductions1
      @ljmproductions1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! It's the 360 actually. And we a tried that same trick with the nuts and bolts, prior to these clean out efforts. If you watch the first episode of this series, you can see what we came up with :)

    There is no gas tank behind the seat in a 1974 f100

      Interesting! I guess the '250 is different. Ours also has an auxiliary tank under the back left fender, which I think is aftermarket.
