  • Chimps (1996): A report on the orphan chimp population of Uganda, and the woman attempting to reintroduce them to the wild.
    Subscribe to Journeyman here: www.youtube.com...
    Synopsis: Debby Cox, a veterinary nurse from Australia, works at Entebbe Zoo, Uganda. She works there with a colony of orphan chimps, saved from poachers who sell them off on the black market. The living conditions of the chimps however are terrible - chimps can end up spending their whole lives in a small cage, never living in a natural environment. Debbie wants to change that. While semi-wild santuaries do exist, Debbie wants more to be built, and eventually aims to start introducing stolen chimps back into the wild. However, a location, and the $100,000 needed to build the santuary, are yet to be found. ABC Australia speaks to Debbie, as well as a zoologist studying chimps who continue to live in the Ugandan wild.

    I don't trust em... exactly because they are so closely related to humans. Those things will rip your eyes out and bite your hands off if they are so inclined. Let em be wild... and don't mess with them.

      They are revengful .A story I heard recently the chimps wrecked the farmers crops in Africa ..He managed to shoot the leader.But those chimps waited until the man went to town and they approached the man's farm like a army..The chimps grabbed the 11 year old daughter and they took off like cut cats with her
      Later the village looked for her and they found her with bites all over her neck ..she bleed out and died.
      The couple Saud the troop lay in the grass watching and belly crawled to the house that's why the wife didn't see them until it was too late.So they behave like a army
      I saw another video where one troop moved in on a neighborhood troop and again they creped up on the troop. Then they all started screaming like they do and the alpha went up a tree and killed a chimp and then no shit .he ate it and handed it around all eating bits off it..Not because they were hungry.no it was a look at us message to the troop.I cant stand chimps.they are chaotic and thar ridiculous screaming they all do is horrible..I love gorillas and orangutans..seems the bigger the more gentle.Chimps are vicious.One ran after a car as ut got out of a santurary and it bit one man so bad he nearly died
      It had being a decent chimp but something happened and it turned.

    @retrosmasher There are many people who are intelligent but never went to school. Intelligence has nothing to do with schooling but with IQ. But I've heard Einstein wasn't that great at school at all. Also loads of animals are intelligent, chimps, bonobos, but also dolphins..

    @hunter15ist Why do some people think it's normal to abuse animals? Why do you think you can't love animals AND babies at the same time? In my case you're right though, I hardly glance at a human baby. I'm just not interested. At least I know that BEFORE getting pregnant and ignore my kid for the rest of its life. More women should do that.

    Write grants to tell the story of these animals and submit them to huge foundations! I am just a nobody from a small town but in 3 years I was able to raise over $6million for two projects that helped impoverished children and a community. I wasn't a grant writer, I just DID IT. and I made sure I told the heart wrenching story of the people this grant would help, and as long as you make it a human interest story of whom the grants would be helping, instead of a pile of statistics written in grantspeak, you will get the money! Don't ever "just sit around waiting for someone to come give it" to you. How can they do that if they've never heard of the work you want to do and the communities you want to change? Surely somebody is doing this on your behalf, but they must not be doing it well! If you tell a compelling story you will get the money!

      +Ann Alejandro Aw you are just a nobody? You bought into that LIE? Sad for you. I am spirit in a body. Greatness within.:)

    • @annalejandro1
      @annalejandro1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +fairybits To your Greatness, Fairybits, what lie did I buy into? A person trying to help a traumatized group of orphaned animals expressed her need for financial help and was frustrated that help was not forthcoming. I tried to make it known to her that if she gets the word out via some kind of exposure, which is easy to do in this social media age, there is always someone willing to help. I advised that if she needs money for her cause, she should write grants to some of the thousands of charitable organizations & foundations which may not be able to give her tons of money, but if she told the story of the animals well and got the word out, people would give her money for them. I knew this by writing dozens and dozens of grants to benefit young humans in need of different kinds of assistants. There are books and web sites devoted to categorizing various foundations who give grants, and you can easily find out how to apply for them, see samples of who has applied in the past, etc.

    • @annalejandro1
      @annalejandro1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +fairybits, It is most unkind to call anybody a nobody, but if I am a nobody but I write and receive grants for the organization's I support, such as arts and literacy programs for at-risk children, literacy projects for communities, or even state of the arts libraries for small towns, then I am content to be the nobody who by writing grants raised more than $6 million in 4 years for these groups I support. If this group asked me to write grants for them, I would certainly do it. My point was that you can't just sit there in a crisis and wish for funding. You have to ask, or get someone to ask for you. My son graduated from a prestigious private university for free, on a 100% scholarship he applied for under my supervision.i have helped many many students get great scholarships. All I was saying was that the person waiting for funding for the chimpanzees in such heart-rending circumstances should quit waiting and start asking, because others will help if she getsthe word out.

      I don't think that is true, if one chimp snaps, it will rip someone's face off. Thet are not very smart for hugging the beasts. I am for not torturing them, but there is no compassion in those beasts. Let's be real, these videos are loaded with garbage that's not accurate
