Such a wonderful documentary slightly let down by the narrators ridiculous comments such as “people have yet to change Africa” and “the people of africa are all as innocent as children”
Just came in the comment section to look for someone noticing it! It's interesting to see that - in an anthropological perspective - those who wrote the documentary still had a sort of western etnocentrism instilled
My favorite documentary of all time! I had read her first book, "In the Shadow of Man." This documentary mesmerized me - as the fascinating book actually "came alive." Thank you Jane Goodall! You are an amazing human being. P.S. Sutherland is the perfect narrator.
This is the very BEST Goodall doc I've ever seen. Even though Jane herself is not actually featured, the subjects are Flo & Co -- one of Goodall's most beloved family of chimps. While watching, I kept feeling like I was sitting in the jungle right next to Jane, hearing her explain what the chimps were thinking and feeling = the next best thing to BEING Jane Goodall! Bravo to Jane and Hugo for all their patience, dedication and brilliant research!!! (Hard to believe this fabulous documentary isn't viral with a million views and likes!)
"... a place where ALL the people are as innocent as children." I think your bigotry of low expectations may be showing here. I used to think Don Sutherland was pretty hip. Nahh!
@Last of the Albino Mexheecans No, I haven't confused anything for anything else. Expecting less from 1 group, as opposed to another, because of race/ethnicity/culture, is bigotry.
I first seen this about 26 years ago and it just never gets old I could watch it again and again. I am so thankful for Jane Goodall so much time was put in to this by her. Other than my grandmother I have to say Jane Goodall is my idol. Such a wonderful woman with such a big heart and she shared it with us through this. Thank you Jane.
Never seen this, and I could tell halfway through the 2nd sentence that Donald Sutherland was narrating lol! Such a great, distinctive voice! One of my favorite actors too!
This is the best documentary film ever made. I have treasured it since I recorded it onto VHS so many years ago now........Something every human being should see.
Thank You for posting these!!! I owned the VHS when it came out and accidentally took to a thrift shop years ago. I was so happy to find this on TH-cam. Many, many thanks! 😊🐵
I can’t believe how many people complained about the narration, but nobody noticed the hilarious little kid slapping his brother on the head, then grinning wide and silently poking him in the forehead 😂
I grew up watching old National Geographic Society shows like this, and; Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, with ol' Marlin Perkins. JANE GOODALL STILL ROCKS! She is truly a positive part of culture during my lifetime on this Great Planet. 1965 to ?😨. She is An important part of human history. (In my book anyway). God Bless Her.
"By a tiny grass cut in the tender finger" . Absolutely pathetic. The narrator talking as if these primal feces flinging canable Baby killing then eating Chimpanzee are these docile creatures.. Bleeding hearts never cease to amaze me
Chimpanzees are so smart,,,,,,for animals. I find them interesting and very intriguing, however, I agree they are no where near the better than human status so many people think.
I can't believe fifis son frodo became so evil even killing a human baby, I have never ever looked at chimps the same way since frodo, I want to, but I just can't, gorillas, orang-utans 👈( bloody spell check) and especially gibbons I adore, I wish I'd never watched the Gombe war, it really left a mark 🙇♀️🕊✌.

I don't mind being called innocent in all honesty(at least not a savage) 😂 better to be underestimated by the world than to be feared
I see it as a compliment
Your grandchildren will be even more disappointed by some of the crap that comes out of your mouth daily, if it makes you feel any better😊
3:20 is me with my two kids wondering how I got into this mess
:D
LOL SAME
king Monkey haaaaaaaaa lolol you stupid 🤣🤣🤣
@Psyfi x Believe it or not I was just schooling a young teen yesterday about wearing his raincoat and dont be believing I'm on the pill bullshit

Cant believe I was only 6 years old when this was made 😆

U realize it was Flos Fifi that tried to kidnap and kill Gremlins twins? Isn't that just sweetest thing I ever heard of?
it was great, I wish it was much longer, they have so much footage that I've heard the stories of, but can't find footage of much of it. Bummer.
"It is a place where all the people are as innocent as children". Mannn and this isn't even that old.
Lol can you believe he's talking about Africa? Lol
They are no longer as innocent. Now they are starving and their country has actually been raped of it's national resources.
So happy to have found this after so many years of missing it. Thanks for uploading it! It will always be one of my all time favorites

Nahh!
you are a stupid person..innocence is not about age you dip stick...it is about what is lost......you idiot
@@jadezee6316 you've lost your innocence, haven't you cavetroll
@tfs2O3 let me guess, you're a racist
Just let it go and let people enjoy things.

Jane Goodall is a national treasure. So is David Attenborough.

Same here, very distinct and recognizable voice.
I knew I recognized the voice. Thank you lol years later I appreciate you saying it bc now I can stop obsessing over who’s voice that is 😂

The Chimpanzees Of Gombe Tanzania Magnificent Creatures Discovered By Jane Goodall Back In The 1960s!🐵👵🌿🇹🇿
I love this story. I especially love Flint.
Baby chimps are so effing cute !!
Flo was such a good , caring mother ,,
who loved her children deeply.
Look what happend to flint she was not a very good mother
It wasn’t her fault. She was just getting too old to be a mother and did the best she could.
@@ashleyking1146 Yes this is true
@@lennarthagen3638 she was an amazing chimp mother!

They belong in the wild, wonderful primates.

This is a remarkable documentary. Thank you for uploading it.

Great videos! Thanks for posting them!

9:48 "Shit ya'll I'm bleeding! I'm BLEEDING!"
'oh shit, are you gonna die?'
"that looks bad cuz"
is this the people of the forest film
Even though this is a fictional story “There is not such a WAR between chimpanzees or other animals” it is very humanly alike and entertaining.

Holy mother of cherry picking
They are docile, most of the time. So are people. Both complex species with many sides to their behavior.
Maybe Ativan was frustrated because he identified as a female an was bullied by his Brother and not accepted by his sister
A Carpenter's Son Or maybe he was just the runt of the litter, and you're equating apples to oranges.

Anyone here from school?
yuh
It was mentioned in a question on a test i had and I thought it was a strange so I looked it up and I was surprised how it was a chimpanzee war.
