      @@MattsAviationChannel You're welcome 😉 Yes, awesome powerfull take off. Must be a great experience to take a ride onboard.
      The new Gulfstream (G500/600/650) are in my opinion the best looking bizjets around.

    Matt, you know how much I love those Gulfstreams. I'll bet this one still has that 'new plane smell' 😂 Those engines powering up were like music. And I believe that pilot could take off from my driveway 😉. What an outstanding video! Thank you!

      Thank you Bruce! It was an extreme short take-off roll. The G500 is completely airborne before taxiway Bravo. This must be a take-off roll of around 670 metres or 2'200 feet only!! This brand new Gulfstream G500 is absolutely amazing and also more quiet than their predecessors. It is equipped with two powerful Pratt & Whitney Canada PW814GA turbofan engines which is also new to me because Gulfstream jets were usually equipped with Rolls-Royce engines. But it still makes wonderful engine music :) Its range is 10’750 km or 6'680 miles, maximum speed is 941 km/h / 584 miles. BMW (German car) is the operator of this brand new jet. The boss knows how to travel in style.

    • @MattsAviationChannel
      @MattsAviationChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you very much Guillaume! Good question. It was definitely only on the left side during the taxi. Maybe they wanted to save the brakes. It sounds ridiculous but it might be the truth. Excessive braking is not only expensive but also a safety hazard because of hot brakes. In case the crew has to abort the take-off they need fully operational brakes so the must be cool. That might be the reason why the deployed the thrust reverser. Maybe the one on the left side was effective enough.

    • @natebrad7471
      @natebrad7471 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Even at idle thrust with TRs stowed, the plane would taxi too fast. That is why you normally see one TR deployed. No big deal.

Could be the engines are so powerful, deployed reversers to slow down to taxi speed instead of using ground brakes, lol, or a combo of both. Have a great day my friend

    Why reverse thrust on one engine?

      Good question. It was definitely only on the left side during the taxi. Maybe they wanted to save the brakes. It sounds ridiculous but it might be the truth. Excessive braking is not only expensive but also a safety hazard because of hot brakes. In case the crew has to abort the take-off they need fully operational brakes so the must be cool. That might be the reason why the deployed the thrust reverser. Maybe the one on the left side was effective enough.

      @MattsAviationChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve, it was deployed only on the left side during taxi. But you are right. It was no longer visible when the aircraft turned.

    • @TonVerkleijT3
      @TonVerkleijT3 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it was deployed on both sides the plane would roll backwards. At the 180 turn at the back of the runway you see the plane struggle to turn, then the crew discovered the reverse trust was still on.
      A grave error, what if they had not to turn and started the takeoff straight away? Another deadly crash would occur, and not for the first time.

      @@TonVerkleijT3 The engines might be on idle power. I am sure that a take-off with thrust reverser deployed would case a master warning and an acoustic alert.

    Great video, can i ask you something. Why you Wright G500 instead of G600?

  • @MrRotorBow
    @MrRotorBow 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    While it is the same type certificate designation (GVII) This is actually a G600.
    For all the plane spotters out there, An easy way to tell a G500 from and G600 is the number of windows. The G500 has 6 windows per side and the G600 has 7 windows.
    Great footage nonetheless!

      Thank you for your kind comment, Josh. It is very interesting to know about the certificate designation (GVII). I think it is the same like the Dassault Falcon 7X and 8X. Both have the 7X certification.
      But your assumptions with the number of the windows is not really correct. Depending on customer requirements this may vary. The Gulfstream G500 is shortest version of the based on the G650, until the launch of the even shorter G400. Like the G600 it has most often seven cabin windows on each side, but sometimes only six. The previous registration of this GVII was N964GA (C/N 72064). According to the US-Registration the model was declared as a Gulfstream GVII-G500 model. Even Gulfstream promotes the Gulfstream G500. Have a look on their website: www.gulfstream.com/en/aircraft/gulfstream-g500/
      Wishing you a great day and many happy flights, Matt

      @@MattsAviationChannel Well look at me trying to be a know it all! haha I think my assumption came from the uber basic "G500 vs G600" google search which produced some generic mock-ups and the easy distinction was the difference in the number of windows. I think your statement regarding customer requirements might be the determining factor as to whether or not that 7th window is present or not. I will do some digging to see if there are any easy / quick and dirty visual differences between the 500 and 600. Thanks for this! Keep up the great work!

      @@MattsAviationChannel Hey so i did some digging and discovered that the first few serial number G500's were built with 6 windows. After those were built the subsequent serial numbers were all built with 7 windows thus both the G500 and G600 having the 7 windows. The only way to tell them apart visually is by the space in between the MED (Main Entrance Door) and the first window!!!

      Good question! I checked it again and it is a G500. Have a look on the Gulfstream website too. The visual difference between G500 and G600 is only minor. The G600 has 7 windows and the G500 6 or an optional 7th like this one in the video.
