    IT IS SO WILD TO THINK THAT ALMOST 10 YEARS AGO MOTOROLA WERE ONE OF THE FIRST COMPANIES TO SAY, WE'RE NOT INCLUDING A WALL ADAPTER FOR THE CHARGER AS A COST-SAVINGS MEASURE. Now every company does it, no matter if it's a flagship. Man, have times changed.

      I'm still using my Moto G as well [since the end of January 2015]! Just curious: Have you seen or heard about the Motorola E5 series (which has yet to be released in the US)? If you're looking for a similar smartphone in terms of style and 720x1280 screen resolution, the E5 Play might be suitable; however, a significant portion of its built-in memory would probably be used for Android 8 alone. At the very least, the wallpapers for my Moto G would fit on an E5 Play without any alterations. :-)
      * Though the E5 Play battery life would be a little better than the Moto G, the rechargable battery is removable, allowing for a quick swap from a dying battery to a fresh one.

    Among the Moto G; the only phone worth buying in an under $300 price tag is the Samsung Galaxy Express. Its 4.5 inch screen size, with 1 GB RAM, Dual-cor processor, running Android 4.1.2, with 5 MP camera, NFC included along with other features for only $249 no contract.

    Great review as always MKBHD. I remember when you started and I knew you would be great! Solid review of the Moto G. It's the perfect off contract phone right now compared to the competition. I wonder how well the Moto G will do in 2014 when the competition will respond. It's only real loss is no LTE but this isn't aimed for LTE markets anyways.

    Had my G for a month or 2 now and within 24 hours it was bootloader unlocked ( yes moto allow that too ) carrier unlocked for £2 and then rooted thanks to ***** , once Xposed was installed and a few modules added this became a high end device, low end devices simply cant do what this phone does, oh and battery life ; this is now my Wifi hotspot as its battery lasts somewhere near 2 full days. Truly incredible device among 20+ smartphones in my current collection. And ***** another great review, Peace. :)

      Xposed framework, apps setting module, modaco toolbox, and all after bootloader unlock and carrier unlock - then root via the sideload recovery method, most of this is finable using google, xda forum and modaco website.

    *Probably the best deal of 2013 in smartphones*
    I was a bit disappointed that ***** focused so heavily on the Moto X for comparison, even though it is a logical decision, the Moto G stands on its own in my opinion. Besides I was expecting to share this video with friends who are not tech savvy at all and don't know anything about any smartphones and this makes this review a bit out of reach for people who haven't been following tech news this year.
    All in all it's still a good review and shows what's important: the Moto G is not the best smartphone out there but it's a steal for 169€.

    Hi Marques and to all across the world . Iv`e been using the Moto G 3g 1st gen now for about 12 months and to be honest i can`t find a better phone anywhere near this price bracket ( £120.00 ) .I`m still getting an easy 1.5 - 2 days battery life on normal to heavy usage , the loud speaker is louder than any other phone on the market and the phone runs smooth and fast with no lag what so ever ( kitkat 4.4.4 soon to be lollipop 5.0 ) so what`s not to like about the moto g 1st edition ! I did try the new 2nd gen but even with dual speakers they weren`t as loud and battery life not as good as Motorola kept the same battery running a 5" screen ? If anyone is looking for a really good fast smart phone with no bloat ware overlay - pure android and the important things needed in a smart phone ie battery , hi rez screen , super loud rear speaker , latest firmware ( before all the leading other brands ie sony,samsung,htc etc etc ) and it fits in the hand perfectly for one finger operation then buy the Moto g 3g 1st edition as you won`t regret it .Just one downside and that`s if your into photography then the moto g 1st only has a 5 meg camera but to be fair it`s pretty good all the same !Thank you.

    • @laypyu
      @laypyu 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the good insight. I just bought the 1st edition myself without knowing there was a 2nd edition with expandable storage and stuff. I thought I am going to regret my purchase. But I guess this will do. :D Will use a seperate storage player for my music then.

      @laurenceharvey6202 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stick with you 1st gen my friend as the 2nd gen although it has expandable memory the speakers are rubbish , the battery life is not as good and the screen is not as sharp ! I tried the new moto g 2nd gen and didn't like it at all so had my moto g 1st gen for over a year now. Thanks

    • @Sirap7
      @Sirap7 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have the moto G for a year now too. For it's money it's still the best smartphone in the market. I'm the type of guy that's into cheap smartphones and that changes a smartphone every 6 months. I had a sony and a huawei before, nothing compared to the powerful smartphone by motorola. I'm just in love with this mobile, really proud of what motorola has managed to produce at such low price. Was thinking of buying the moto G 2014 but thankfully regretted it, if this one dies at some point I think the next best choice is moto G 4G.

    I bought this phone in 2014 and it's now 2020 and this phone is still working. I am about to replace it though only because I need more storage space. It's still powering up and still running and still being used. Never a major issue with it. My only wish was for them to have given the expandable storage, but overall it's been a pretty damn good phone. zero complaints. (and I never put a cover on it and no screen protector and no scratches)

  • @CyberPoodle

    I think the nexus 4 for 200 bucks is a better deal. I managed to snag it when it was that cheap 😀 it has more ram, better build quality, NFC, and a better camera. And its a nexus, so you get almost instant updates

    • @Spooky_Psyche
      @Spooky_Psyche 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, but that's for the 8gb version. You can get a 16gb Moto G for $200, and it's a huge difference. And trying to find a 16gb Nexus 4 at a reasonable price right now is basically impossible.

    • @0Bariq0
      @0Bariq0 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      bulldog521521 i got the 16gb nexus 4 from google playstore last september for $300, so this phone is still cheaper...i think this phone is made for people with limited budget that don't need the best specs.

    • @CyberPoodle
      @CyberPoodle 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      bulldog521521 yes good point but many people will be just fine with 8 gigs. I am a pretty tech savvy person, and I flash roms frequently which take up quite a bit of space and I haven't really ever needed more space than 8 gigs

    • @Ashquacks
      @Ashquacks 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bariq h That was during the fire sale. Just like the one they had with the HP TouchPad, it was the only few people that were lucky enough to get one. And just like the HP TouchPad now, finding a used one will just all be prices as if the fire sale never happened.

    • @laurenceharvey6202

      Only problem with the nexus 4 is the battery life is crap compared to the moto g which is ashame as the nexus 4 would have been perfect if it had simply better battery life .

    Acabo de comprar el Moto G hace dos días y funciona de maravilla. Para mi fue una muy buena compra pues vengo de un Sony Xperia ST21a que es inferior al Moto G.
    Algo que faltó mencionar es que también trae una cámara frontal. Claro que es apenas de 1.5 mp pero que traiga dos cámaras hace que sea aún una mejor compra.
    El desempeño, para mi, está al punto del toque del dedo. Es ágil y un verdadero gusto usar.
    Algo había visto de que recibiría kit Kat pero no me era claro cuándo y cómo. Enero no podrá llegar demasiado rápido. Será una excelente forma de iniciar el año..
    No hay duda que si vienes de un móvil inteligente inferior o buscas adquirir tu primero, el Moto G es la mejor compra que podrás hacer.

    ***** for me the moto G has been the best business class phone, i've been buying them for my organisation and I love them. no thrills, just the essentials and cheaper to buy an unlocked phone than getting a subsidised phone on a 24 month contract, so these phones are actually helping me save money. nobody else is doing phones like this, i'm so glad motorola are doing the things they're doing

      I'm recommending it to my mom for that reason. She has a phone released in late 2010, my old Evo 3D. The Moto G is better than every handset Virgin Mobile offers except maybe the S3 but that's unlikely to get future Android updates so that's not even a great option.

    Finally upgraded from my Moto G LTE to a Moto G4 Play (costed $100 as a repackage from Target). These phones are both fantastic, the G4 Play is a good upgrade, but I did a factory reset on my Moto G LTE and it still runs great. Could easily have lived with that phone for another year or so.
    My only complaint with the Moto G LTE in TODAY's age is the lackluster and slow camera. The G4 Play camera is pretty good for 8MP and is fast.

    I just bought a moto g 2nd gen today to temporarily replace my one plus and let me tell you I've been quite surprised. For a third of the price of the moto x, this phone has practically everything you might need from an everyday phone. Yes, its display is not qhd or it doesn't have SD card slot but it sure gives you a TON of stuff for a fraction of the cost. If you are on the fence, I would say go for it. Unless you are a display geek, or camera junkie, you'll absolutely love it!

    I've had this phone since the release of the phone in the UK on amazon which was the 15 of January 2014. To this day, I do not have a scratch on the phone, the closest thing to it is a little dimple in the bottom, and it isn't even noticeable because of my case. I've dropped it countless of times and nothing has happened to it, even when I drop my phone and my earphones pull out, the audio jack is still gorgeous. Hands down the best phone for its price and probably even the sub £300 phone category.

      I've bought two moto g's so far and they are great phones. The display is pretty good not amazing and the near stock android experience is great too. The bug issue I have is the bad camera, only in good lighting situations will this camera be any good, it is just bad. But comparing it to the s3, it will get android L while the s3 won't, and it doesn't have touchwiz (whether you like touchwiz or not),NFC, wireless charging, 4g LTE or a good camera, but what it does have is a near stock android build with a pretty good display and it will get future updates, but you give up a decent camera on the s3 for that. I personally would take the moto g over the s3 but that's because I want updates for the future, but that's your choice.

      I love moto g but there are some differences between galaxy s3 and moto g
      galaxy s3 price is about 300$ while moto g 179$
      camera on galaxy s3 is 8mp while moto g is only 5mp
      Gaming is slighty better in galaxy s3
      Moto G is going to have android L and thats something that makes moto g better than galaxy s3

    Galaxy Nexus - NFC/Removable battery = Moto G

    • @Trent255
      @Trent255 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wrong. This phone is superior to the Galaxy Nexus. That thing runs like a dog on stock Android right now, whereas this thing is fast. The GNex was slow even when I sold mine and got a Nexus 4. After a year, the Nexus 4 is still relatively fast and the GNex is likely awful.
      This phone will also officially get 4.4, whereas the GNex will not.
      There are a whole lot of differences between the two. Did you just think you were being smart or funny by taking one Google product and comparing it to another?
      I'm pedantic, yes. But you could have just not bothered posting something that's so clearly wrong.

    • @eiffelpex
      @eiffelpex 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cut it out dude. Everything you pointed out was issues with software. So either you're speaking blasphemy, or you never got root permissions on your GNexus.
      If you buy a new phone every time you feel you need to specifically for soft stuff (updates, lag) then your lost.
      Check this out, my Wife's Gnexus ONLY has a custom kernal with a few tweaks here and there. But she's running STOCK 4.3 because that's all the Gnex "officially" gets and she doesn't need all the extra functionality of a different ROM.
      Buy MY Gnex...that's a different story. So you can save all that "Superior" "like a dog" "official" "clearly wrong" talk for those who post stuff trying to be smart or funny.

    The whole video is him talking about how bad is this phone compared to the moto x.. Bad review.. Not helpful. I have been using moto g for 2 years now and it still is REALLY good phone.

    I have a man-crush on the way you make/create such solid reviews.... Great detail which explains the features of the phone in a simple enough way. I can make my parents watch this and be assured that they understand the review.
