I really relate a lot to the sucking topic, I never wanted to draw full body characters because i sucked on It, and after accepting that I Will suck, i really started to get better at It, I have been More Time drawing, More than 2 years, and even so, your journey has inspired me a lot to practice and get better at art, after a lot of time of mindless practice 😅, your journey Made me awake, im really excited to keep improving and getting better at art, thank you for the video and keep going!
Tip(s) : weaponize time. Time is both your ally and enemy here. When you asks for advices on how to improve u can hear sometime the deadly advice of “just draw” out of context it does not help you but what people usually mean by this is produce. By producing you can try and copy art style, techniques, workflow etc etc. 1 fundamentals : what are those ? Mainly how perspective (1,2,3, point(s)) works, that life is just cube or different forms of cubes or cut cubes that are molded into different shapes. How to position those forms in different angles. 2 focus your attacks :you might get overwhelmed very quickly by how much you need to learn to “get gud” so if you would like to make portraits train in the face and upper body first, if you would like to draw landscape learn how to create a dynamic landscape with perspective ,if you would like to make a comic/ manga learn how to position your characters, how to mount correctly your page even if the task at hand seems daunting 3 TAKE YOUR TIME : I cannot stress this enough progress at your own pace. We all are made differently, one may improve in days , others in a week, months or years know that even Satoru Gojo the Strongest trained to become the strongest nobody starts with like boundless skill when he begins know that even Picasso learned to get gud you’ll even see that in his early career he did normal things 4 REFERENCES : I also cannot stress this enough you need that to improve. Our monkey brain built on millions of years of bioengineering works by learning by seeing and doing. That is why our friend Kooi recommended to copy to use references to improve our mental library. You cannot build a building from things you don’t know how to do. Know that studies works like an hyperbolic time chamber. 5 have something that drives you : for me it’s just pure SPITE ( it allows me to grind for 2-5 hours ) Having something that drives you is essential in this. Psychologically you cannot keep on a difficult task if you have noting to motivate you. If the soldiers fighting in the trenches had no will no drive to hold for France know that the triple entente would have lost WW1. 6 it’s okay to take breaks: I’m in art school now and even now i can be fed up of drawing and do other things for a while. You have the opportunity to take breaks to relax even I take breaks from time to time. Know that the grind never ends and I wish luck to all that chose this journey on this weird year that’ll be 2025
Nahhhh bro I audibly screamed an entire section for sucking. 😭 Great video Kooi. The memes, the multiple references to other artists and good advice on general art practices. Thank you King.
The inspiration you gave me yesterday after watching this video is unbelievable. I hope this inspiration will be guiding me through all year and I will try my best for this to happen. Thanks a lot and I wish you also a good year and hope that your channel will grow a lot more, you deserve it
This video actually really breaks down each part and I love the cooking analogy. If only I wasn’t so lazy.(though I have gotten pretty far just looking at pretty art and going waow instead of doing art studies) Your art journey is very inspiring and through the video I can see some of all the hard work over six months that lead to the improvement.
Got here through recommended and have to say, great vid and solid advice! "To steal from one is plagiarism, to steal from many is art" whoever came up with that one, cooked haha stealing that. Good stuff G
I just started my art journey for graphic design but I also want to draw the things I imagine from my mind. This video really helped me figure out what I really wanted to draw and focus on. Keep doing what you're doing Kooi cause it's amazing.
Great video, thank you for making it! I love that your channel has all the livestreams for each day too for us to go back and check out how you started and learn together with you :3
@@kooikoyume its a good structured reference library that you can rapidly go through and explore. I would consider putting them in a playlist as well just so those streams are easier to find for those that are looking.
This is honestly really helpful! im a vtuber whos trying to stream while drawing but i have no guts for drawing infront of my audience because i have this problem where i draw halfway and soon erase the whole thing 😭 and i thought it'll be dissapointing for them. Anyways great video!
Oh thank God some1 mentioned the hours. I saw title and actually considered being THAT guy that says "so 10 seconds a month for 6 months? Got it" but thankfully I actually watch at least some of the video. 750 hours over 6 months is roughly 2h 30min a day now that's a good time frame. It's honestly what the whole PewDiePie issue came from, not to touch too much on it but stupid people and trolls will both ignore the obvious time investment if you don't straight up tell them. Dates are not Time. Love the video, step 1 had me a bit iffy because trying to adopt other artist techniques it's very hard to compare ur art to theirs instead of focusing on learning the technique. So many times do I follow tutorials and my finished product looks like trash compared but it's only after I've had my rant that I accept I just don't have the same experience. I should know better but it's easier said than done.
I never realized that when you finish SUCKING you have to SUCK more in order to get the full SUCK experience, definitely bookmarking this video for future reference 😊Amazing art pieces btw
I've started only doing circles because I want to improve the way I use my whole arm. I do not know if this is a good idea, but I feel that is important because if I do not improbe my mechanical part it is gonna be difficult to improve. However, I am trying to draw something besides of that despite of the result, I've started drawing things of videogames. I would like tips, how can I notice that i am improving or if should I change something about my method
2:42 man casually putting all the artists I've been watching for a while on one screen... Kinda surprised to see theCecile there, as I've acknowledged them because of that one Isaak Wolf's music album ("Calm Stasis"). Overall great video, like how it overviews every aspect of learning how to actually learn to draw
the intro kinda reminds me of that art youtuber that posts shorts🤣🤣🤣🤣🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 "common mistakes artist makes" edit: 2:43 "artists to follow" damn that cooking part hits so hard😭😭 all i did was practice anatomy and figure drawings, never actually did any original art...this lead to me, burning out😔😔

So if I am right u must suck+suck+suck+suck+suck=suck more. then suck times 2x to suck times 4x = 8sucks then u take 8 sucks then to multiple it by 21 sucks which = 168 sucks + two to get 170 sucks (I am not cooking here I am doing math) then u take 170 and then ??? Well keep on sucking until u can't suck no more just keep going guys u all got this
