      Surely it's your landlord responsibility, a stuck window is a fire hazard !

      @@Mr4fksake they never said it was stuck. And it's petty to call out your landlord to replace a window that you can fix yourself in 5 minutes.

      I've got the same problem. Key is broken and window permanently locked. The handle covers one of the screw holes, and I can't access it to remove or change the handle. I'll look around and comment again if I find a solution.

      look on youtube. there is a life hack that shows you how to open when handle has failed. its basically pushing a thin metal blade in the right spot to lift the handles locking part. No need to drill 👍

    Mine is completely jammed. I cant even open the handle fully to get to the other screw to get the handle off.
    Its as if the whole mechanism on the side if the window has seized shut and stopping the handle from fully turning

    My late dad arranged for the new windows to be fitted around 6 years ago now; and yes… they are still under warranty. But the company in question.. ( Town & country window systems from Totton ) who fitted the windows.. do not seem to be particularly interested in doing any repair work on them; unless they have stopped fitting windows altogether.
    i don’t own a mobile 📱 so my sister’s been trying to get in contact with them; but they are not answering or responding.
    Another window company could come out and have a look at them; but look at how much they charge for that. Around £200. That seems an awful lot of money for them.. just to come out and take a look.

    Might as well not have locks, without multipoint locking you could simply crowbar those windows open from the outside as those handles would just snap off.
    Oh and this doesn't work with that ^^ type of lock handle as the handle when locked, hides the fixing screw.

    Yes… I’m having problems with my front windows. They will not close. Have to keep them closed with shoe laces; otherwise the windy weather will blow them back out. Cannot afford to have them replaced. Cost hundreds. No one seems to want to come out and take a look. They were fitted around 6 years ago; and they Still look as new.

    Being a fitter and Upvc repairs professional, I don’t recommend doing this at all. Very long winded, also if you can’t get a handle that day your left with an unlocked window , in which you’ll have to do the same process you’ve seen but in reverse. My advice.... get a professional out.... if you don’t like how much they charge then by all means run the risk of doing it yourself, you’ve only yourself to blame then if you knacker something.

      You're clearly talking rubbish. I'm not suggesting for a minute that every trades person rips off their customers but it does happen all the time. The media is absolutely littered with great daily examples of people being ripped off with shoddy workmanship, being over charged, etc. You're either very naive or completely oblivious to what's happening in the world around you.

    • @Strider9655
      @Strider9655 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@21stcenturycaveman33 Actually it's less common than the media would have you think, more often than not customers just don't want to pay for work that doesn't involve actually replacing something, so when a tradesman comes around and fixes a lock (for example), the customer can be very reluctant to pay them. I know tradesmen who will turn down work because they know that the customer will question the bill, as either the job seems more simple than in really is or the customer has expressed an attitude that they think the job is a simple one.
      It's the same with having your car repaired, extra parts get added to the invoice because they don't want the hassle of arguing with a customer who sees a single line on the invoice, saying "adjusted handbrake cable" and doesn't want to pay for the 2 hours it takes to raise the car on ramps, remove trim, strip down the handbrake and locate the adjustment mechanism.
