Saw Nosferatu last night with my oldest so and thought it was a slow burn with a sense of impending disaster. William Dafoe was excellent as was the rest of the cast. I absolutely loved it and was so glad that we went to see it in the theater. The scene where Thomas is walking up to Count Orlock's castle was just amazing.

Heretic was the best horror I saw all year. The best thing a movie can do is keep the edit tight and Heretic does that perfectly. There isn't even a moment when you're not engaged with what's happening on screen.

Finally! I was beginning to think I was the only one who kinda liked Night Swim and Imaginary! Neither were masterpieces but I enjoyed as nice, light entertainment. My friend and I saw Nosferatu a few days ago and neither of us liked it much. However, I saw it again yesterday and liked it much more. The voice was the scariest since Christopher Lee in Dracula has Risen from the Grave! The Substance, wow! I knew literally nothing about it before I saw it except I thought it might be a horror movie. By the end of it I had to have my jaw reattached since it had dropped to the floor! My favorite of the year, easily, is Longlegs. Saw it 4 times in theater and now have it on Blu-ray. I'm still torturing my friends with my Longlegs impression! Love your channel Daniel!

@ actually I consider Dracula and Orlock to be the same character. In the original Nosferatu they changed his name only to prevent a lawsuit since it was an unauthorized adaption of the Bram Stoker novel. In the 1979 remake of Nosferatu he was called Dracula. In this remake I like that they gave him a mustache since Dracula had a mustache in the novel.

So happy to see Longlegs so high on your list. I've seen it twice and have an itch to watch it again. I actually not to keen on vampire movies but this particular film is going to make an absolute life out of me.
It’s my absolute favourite to date and yes it’s the Swedish movie from 2007 ( LET THE RIGHT ONE IN ).
Beautifully directed and with superb acting from the whole cast.
A haunting and delicate movie to say the least.
Not to confused with the American remake from 2010 .
Have you seen either film? And if so what are your views on these past films 🍿

Good list. I feel there were so many movies this year that had great ideas that didn't quite live up to those ideas. In A Violent Nature... I definitely enjoyed it. Almost loved it.. maybe I did love it but I really wish there was a campfire scene where you only hear glimpses of the story from Johnny's perspective. Between Immaculate and First Omen, I do think I preferred The First Omen. Maybe it didn't get as far out as Immaculate but I loved the visuals and sound design of The First Omen. Definitely a lot of good performances in each. I liked Cuckoo and Devil's Bath more than you did. I didn't hate Salem's Lot. Definitely loved Oddity. I would have put Stopmotion and Strange Darlings a bit higher. Alien Romulus... I love some aspects of it. CGI didn't bother me. I just felt the first half was pretty radically better than the second half. Heretic was great. Maybe the best executed in my top five. I wouldn't have changed anything about it. Terrifier 3 was great but definitely liked 2 more. Longlegs... I really liked it but I did feel a bit disappointed. I need to watch it a couple more times. Hopefully I will grow to actually love it. I liked The Substance more than you did. Nosferatu... LOVE the vibe but I struggle with a few issues. I'd still put it as my third favorite movie of the year behind and like Longlegs, I feel I will grow to love it more than I did upon first watch. Haven't seen Frogman or The Vourdalak but will definitely check them out.

I kind of wrote off Nosferatu because I don't see the point of remakes, but then I gave up on New Years Eve and went to see it, mostly because I assumed if The Cobwebs Channel likes it then I probably will. Wrong! My opinion: it tries WAY too hard to be scary, to the point where I was actually laughing at some of the biggest "horror" scenes. I'm not saying it wasn't creepy, scary, etc. - this is not a "you call this horror?" opinion. I just mean it was laying everything on really thick: the lighting (or lack of), the music, the totally over-the-top voice they gave Nosferatu. Did he used to be a Mongolian throat-singer? Are you sure it wasn't Milan Fras and not Bill Skarsgard under the makeup - he has the same mustache and voice. Sorry. I can see why some people may like it, but to me it was just dialed up to 11 and trying too hard.

It didn’t suck money wise. It was already Egger’s highest grossing movie after opening weekend.

@cobwebschannel don't get me wrong id love a horror movie to win some Oscars and they did get lucky at box office, but the release date had everything to do with Oscars and not money. When I said it shouldn't count for 2024 is because 95% of horror fans and your subscribers will have first viewed this in 2025

Absolutely abhorred Stopmotion. I found it to be completely unrelatable and entirely unpleasant to look at, listen to, or spend time with. The whole "it's all in her head" thing doesn't really do it for me.

The substance is really bad, like, the last 40 minutes make the movie a waste of time af

The Substance was terrible. Dennis Quaid is one of my favorite actors and he is good in it. I like Demi Moore too but the movie sucked.
