The NBA has passed down the new rules for any team updating their logos (which is happening regularly now). They are to resemble World soccer logos and must all have a basketball built into the design, not bolted on like the old clippers logo.
Oldest trick in the graphic designer book... showcase a bunch of terrible designs and then reveal the one you want the client to accept. Not much work is involved in the final design but the client is so blown away after all the terrible logos that they accept on the spot. Standard.

I like the Clips and their new logo. But I'm born and raised in LA. The Clips haven't claimed it as their city yet. People still bleed purple and gold as do I. There's no need to hate on The Lake Show. But I do want these new Clips to dominate. They have the right pieces to be able to pull it off.
