    0:00 Intro - Click show more under the video to read more.
    0:05 The Manufacturer wanted a new long block (complete engine) installed. Pistons will have 3 rings so most likely the oil control ring was not installed. The technician is not sure which one was not installed as the manufacturer didn't want the engine torn apart any more than it was.
    0:36 Water pump was replaced under warranty.
    0:47 Instrument cluster was replaced under warranty.
    0:55 Engine replaced under warranty.
    1:11 The machined services (engine block and cylinder head) must have been so precise that it didn't cause an engine until 10000 miles and under load. As mentioned the technician had also seen these on other models (Ford Edge).
    1:24 Somebody wants to drive a little fast...
    1:43 The manufacturer didn't want the technician to take apart the engine anymore so he's unsure of the exact issue, however, he said another technician had seen the wrist pin retaining clips fall off on these newer 3.0L Duramax engines.
    1:55 Never seen somebody install a piston backwards.
    2:09 No extra info.
    2:17 Short block was replaced.
    2:34 Internal coolant loss in engine. The customer's vehicle is 9 years old and they wanted Ford to cover the engine under warranty but it's 4 years past the warranty date (and over the mileage as well).
    4:29 Found before doing the PDI (pre-delivery inspection).
    4:34 Customer just angry on how much the services cost, even though a tire rotation for $28 is pretty good nowadays.

    I work as a mechanic. I've had customers get angry at me... You get use to it. If someone says they can get a 15 year old to do the job for them I tell them go for it... I once had a customer get mad at me for taking an hour to replace the rear brakes on her Mercedes C class. And she didn't want to pay. So I spent my lunch hour to put her old pads back in and she took her car to the so called Google Mechanic and guess what... The kid they got to do the brakes didn't realize that on a Merc you have to tell the computer to release the park brake before your replace the pads 😂 she came back to the shop with the car on a flat bed because now the car doesn't have rear brakes anymore

      I accidently did that on my Jag F-Type because the battery died suddenly which I discovered is common. Last thing it did while I was mid pad swap is engage the E-Brake and shot out the cylinder. Had to put it all back together, re-calibrate the E brake and bleed it by myself using a metal pipe to push the brake while also losening and tightening the bleeder. Lucky I have long arms.
      The lesson here is, put the car on a battery tender 😂

    To be fair to the Ford Fiesta lady: I had a 2013 Fiesta, and the transmission was so bad they were sued in multiple class-action lawsuits. The car nearly killed me with slipping gears on more than one occasion, like jack-rabbiting into an intersection at a red light, or suddenly downshifting two gears (auto was a double-clutch) going 65 on the highway. When my son totaled the car (he was fine, thank goodness), I was actually *relieved* I didn't have to fight Ford any more for giving me the runaround on replacing the transmission under warranty. So yeah, I was pretty close to leaving a crazy rant like that myself.

    • @GoonSquadLifeMember
      @GoonSquadLifeMember 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +41

      Another testimony pointing to how manual transmissions are way less problematic. There is no reason whatsoever to make manuals obsolete, yet that's what the industry is doing. It is a symptom of the utter contempt for the consumer held by the auto industry.

      @jefftindell7924 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

      I used to work at ford when the double clutch recall hit hard. I remeber hearing from a tech that it was a 2 step process,. 1- verify the slipping. 2- if confirmed, set up a later appointment for a repair that may or may not fix the issue. That was Fords best solution. Glad i dont work there anymore.

    • @fretless7099

      @@jefftindell7924 "verify the slipping" is where Ford screwed everyone. They made the dealers look bad by giving them almost impossible conditions to meet before slippage was verified and a replacement was authorized, and the customers felt it was the dealers' fault for the runaround. Later it was found Ford knew about the problem before the transmission was put into service but did it anyway hoping the problem wouldn't be that bad. Extremely poor management by Ford.

    • @aaronthomas6155
      @aaronthomas6155 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      Let me clear a few things up here. The transmission in the Fiesta and Focus is NOT the problem. The problem is the clutch and transmission control module. The transmission, is an "automatically" shifted manual transmission. The problem stems from the clutch not engaging fast enough, causing it to overheat and damage the pressure plates and flywheels. This causes the shutter that occurs. Fixing the problem requires the clutch to engage faster, which would make the shifts feel less smooth.

I have a honda CRV daily driver that I took to a local mechanic to service because who has the time to do that when you have to work? Since he retired just prior to pandemic, the only place I could go to get things done in a timely manner was the local Honda dealer. Holy crap. I've had to re-do almost everything they've done, or had to bring it back to them under repair warranty for things that were just too time consuming for me to tackle. Recently they tried to scam me to make up their loss for a warranty starter replacement. I had a meltdown on the guy - some snot nosed kid who even tried to get me to pay a re-stocking fee for parts he said they ordered(but didn't yet have)which I declined. A-holes. Man PACCAR has been majorly effing up for the last while. All 7 of the 2020-2022 T680s my carrier has ordered brand new have been absolute dumpster fires in terms of quality and reliability. Every one of them has been in and out of the shop nonstop since taking delivery for a myriad of electrical (both computer/software and basic switch/motor/wiring) as well as mechanical problems. I, too, would be absolutely boiling over with rage if it were my $300k spent on these garbage lemons. I've personally documented no fewer than 14 individual unique issues in my DVIR after driving these trucks (with many of those being 'repeat offenders' aka has reoccurred after going back to KW to be "fixed")... and out of all my shifts I only drive those models about 15-20% of the time. Cheap chinesium that shatters into pieces within a few months when it should last years.
      There’s tons of companies, Rhino USA for example since I have a product in front of me, that prides itself in being an American brand that they have it in their name. In the bottom of the description of almost if not all their products, they clearly state “designed in the usa, made in ___”.

    We have owned allot of new cars in the past 30 years. The only time I got upset is when I found an employee racing my car off the lot, turns out it was a 15 yr old that got a hold of the keys to take it through the car wash. I mostly had issue with it because my insurance wouldn't have covered any damage because we were not insured for anyone under the age of 25, not to mention the guy hot rodding my car. The dealership made him apologize to me and then they fired him. After that, I made sure that no one under the age of 25 was driving my car, they assured me they were insured for all of their employees but I was so upset. They made good efforts after that to make sure my car was taken care of...we purchased several cars from the dealership so they were careful not to screw up any future car sales. BTW, it was 40th edition, Pontiac Grand Prix that I waited for over a year while being on a customer list of future purchase, beautiful and fast...loved that car.

      In Australia (and many places), any failure caused by a manufacturing fault is covered by the manufacturer by law. So, for example, anyone who bought a 2011 MacBook Pro with a faulty GPU (like me) can get the logic board replaced for free by Apple every time it fails. This doesn't apply to general wear and tear though. But strong consumer protection laws is a good thing and prevents companies from churning out trash that fails after one year due to cut corners, poor QC or shitty parts.

We took them to take a look and they were in pieces! The screen smashed, keys missing, no doubt physical abuse... We declined replacement. After arguing for a while the mother comes clean... The father had forbid the kids from being on social media and came home to find them on the laptops on social media, so as punishment, he took a hammer to the laptops. They eventually left without the laptops since they were smashed and they didn't want to buy new ones. We all just laughed. The nerve of some people to think physical abuse or spilled liquids will be covered under a warranty. I was just surprised Best Buy didn't cave and replace them anyway. Warranty is against manufacture defect not human induced damage.
