The songs I wish they would play: The House Jack Built Cure - only ever played as a jam Bad Seed - only ever played as a jam Where the Wild Things Are - occasionally performed as a bass/guitar doodle around 1998, sometimes with James singing!
@@barakaobama4017 Lars has said it’s his least favorite song in the catalog bc he feels like it’s two different puzzle pieces being jammed together (I disagree, but I think I can understand why he would feel that way). I highly doubt it’ll get played outside of Kirk and Rob jamming it (unless they decided to do a show playing Justice front-to-back for the first time like they’ve done with Kill, Ride, Master, and Black in the past). James had to get over his ‘Escape’ and ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ hate for those shows, so maybe Lars can do the same lmao

One of my favorites. They haven't played it live at all since 2017, which is probably cause it has a relatively complex drum pattern that Lars can't play anymore (cause Lars), and James probably struggles with singing the song with the guitar, which also has a decently difficult pattern. Definitely a song I'd love to see them play live at least one more time before they eventually come to an end as a band.
Interestingly, Metallica has Mama Said listed as played twice live on the website, counting the Stockholm performance, yet still not acknowledging the other two post 2000s performances - how intriguing! It’s weird how it wasn’t included in the acoustic sets Metallica have done, or even the acoustic parts of shows in the Poor Retouring Me concerts, where a hated DEEP CUT (Poor Twisted Me) got played over a SINGLE! Also worth mentioning that 3 of the Beyond Magnetic songs were only played on the 30th anniversary shows, and if we include Garage Inc., then we also have Crash Course and It’s Electric!
Good observation! By the way, the Seattle 89’s To live is to die is recognised by setlist website only as a footnote to “Bass Solo”. In wonder how many more such bits are missing, as well as misalignments with Metallica’s site.
We could make a video centered around AWHM song, which has the most curious case, and add other bits to it. Disposable Heros also has been acousticized pretty drastically
"Escape" meant a lot to me as a teenager and obviously I still like it today. When you're that age and you're wanting to break the mold and forge your own path, a song like that means a lot to you. Even if it was the last song written for the album and came about because the label wanted a more palatable track, it's still a cool song that deserves the occasional setlist spot.
the 2nd last tour date for M72 2024 was September 27th, the day Cliff died. they played Orion on night 1 as usual on this tour, but they dedicated it to Cliff. I wish they had done at least both Orion and To Live Is to Die, since it was literally on the day. hopefully in 2026, if they do something for MoP's 40th anniversary, they'll play it.
@@ProjectRevoltNow They were forced to make the song in the studio despite being happy with the album. As far as I know it's the only Metallica song Cliff didn't like
I've been looking for the CMT Outlaws version of Mama Said for years because Jesse Colter sang it with Hetfield. There are a few pictures of them sharing the stage together, but sadly no videos.
I played Low Man's Lyric for a 'show and tell' at school when I was about 14. It went down quite well... I think. I shortened it to about 4 minutes. I really liked what sounded to me like a sort of Irish vibe. And that dark, "so low the sky is all I see..." When everyone's quiet at the end you're not sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing

They did actually play All within my hands in an electric guitar set. They did it in 2022 during the AWMH auction concert. It's just that it's not the album version at all: all the acoustic versions they made of All within my hands are heavily modified from the album one: the pace isn't the same, the riff structure is modified, they cut off the end, ect (and in my opinion, they did a great job for eth live version they made is so much better than the album version). In 2022, they just performed live that acoustic version of the song... while plugging in their electric guitars instead. You can find the video somewhere on YT. Just hoping that this could mean they'll start to play this excellent song sometime around in the huge stadium venues they play in usually!
I liked Mama Said when I was strumming a Dm chord and briefly added a G to make it Dsus4 one time back in the 1990s and wondered "where have I heard that before?"
